I prefer Tolkein and Lewis as well, as I said I need to be in the right mood. But both Lovecraft and Howard have their place when I am in the right mood. Another author similar in mood is Karl Edward Wagner, who I prefer to both Lovecraft and Howard, but if you don't care for LC and REH I doubt you would care for KEW either.

Thanks. The tone of this gonzo game is pretty upbeat, despite Fiefo's every effort. :D

Don't thank me. You made your Save vs Spells to avoid being mind controlled. It's like thanking the ref after you hit a 3 point shot. :D

The comments on Tolkien reminded me of a discussion in a different Inspiration and Source Material thread: viewtopic.php?f=793&t=10254

My ratings (thank you for asking :) ):

Tolkien - Genius
Lovecraft - Genius
Howard - fun, but too direct to really capture my fascination
Lewis - his best stuff is genius (with a small g), yet ultimately a bit silly (especially his sci-fi)

I’ve read everything from each of them except Howard. Maybe if I read more I’d like him more…
