Major Julius Concord was born and raised in the Free Worlds league where he graduated from the prestigious Allison Mechwarrior Institute in 3002.
He immediately gained a commissioned with the 5th Regulan Hussars as a lance commander. He was respected by other officers for his keen tactical mind and battlefield prowess and respected by his men for his honor and loyalty to those serving under him and by 3014 had risen to the rank of captain and taken a company command.
When the Marik civil war broke out in 3014 Julius along with the rest of the 5th Regulan Hussars sided with Anton Marik. After the Defeat of Anton Julius was appalled at the mass executions of members of Antons former regiment the 3rd Marik Militia. No longer feeling attached to the military he admired as a child he decided to strike out on his own. Most of his company in the Hussars remained loyal and followed him as he left the Free Worlds League to form his own mercenary unit.
As a charismatic leader Julius was, within 6 months, able to gather enough mechwarriors to turn his unit into 1 full company and a additional lance of mechs with a flight of aerospace fighters. In 2015 he signed his first contact with the Federated Suns. The contract lasted 5 years and was spent mostly raiding Capellean Confederation worlds.
The 5 years had been successful and by the contracts end Julius had filled his unit into 2 full companies of mechs. The Crusaders next contract was with the Lyran Commonwealth starting in 3020. The Crusaders were stationed on the small world of Steelton not far from the Draconis and Periphery boarders. They used the planet as a staging point for hunting bandits and garrisoned to protect the water treatment facilities from bandit raids.
Little did anyone know the planet was home to a lost star league cache. The Draconis Combine were the first to discover records of the cache and in 3024 sent 2 full battalions from the 2nd Sword of Light to assault the tiny world.
The Crusaders fought Valiantly to try and slow the enemy until help could arrive but were quickly outgunned and overwhelmed. By the time it was all done the Crusaders had been reduced to 4 surviving mechs.
The Lyrans, who were at the time, looking to recruit and keep as many mercenaries as possible offered the remaining Crusaders a new contract extension. This time it would be a garrison contract on the planet of Abramkovo near the Free Worlds League boarder. There they would guard a small plant that produced engines for the Pegasus Hover tank. While the amount of pay for the garrison contract was lower it offered the Crusaders 2 Pegasus Hover tanks on top of the pay. Needing time to rebuild Julius accepted.
The last 3 years have been spent rebuilding the Crusaders to company strength with the last 4 mechwarriors being hired within the last 4 months. However 3 years of garrison pay has drained the units bank accounts and left the mechwarriors feeling antsy for some action.
