Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Amistad
well they can have the food supplies, don't think they are going to snaffle the silver and gold. Amistad will break open several flasks of oil and create a safe circle around the party, lighting the oil with a log from the fire. He has 8 flasks in his backpack and will use as many as he can crack open and pour.

Earc's spell puts the closest six of the rats to sleep, making room for the other seven to dive in, squealing and unperturbed. Blackjack pours a ring of oil, using the last of your flasks and lighting it on fire.
The rats greedily tear through your packs, consuming all your remaining rations. Faced with the ring of fire, they then toddle off into the riverbrush once more. (No combat, but remove all oil, all food, and your ruined backpacks from inventory.)
You pick up your remaining personal goods and gather them into various sacks, piling them onto your handcarts with the treasure. You trundle on the last three or four miles, finally arriving back in Frogmorton Ford by mid-afternoon. You're grateful for the return to your holdings there, and can easily be back in town to exchange your metal goods for proper coins by nightfall.
Date/Time: 2:00pm, 14 July 2021
Light: Daylight
Effects: None
Distance travelled: 3.5 miles today, about 32 miles total
Injuries: Achaedany (seriously wounded), Akkara (seriously wounded), Blackjack (moderately injured)

I guess it's just as well I never posted Olaf attacking.
I had forgotten that Olaf has a mule. Is he still with us, or did we leave him in town?

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
'Blackjack' Amistad
Is relieved to get back to the relative 'comforts' of the logging yard and heckles Godric and the builders now that the 'Boss' is back in town. Good news with an increase in experience.
The potions of healing, if I had remembered we had them, I would have used them on Akaara and Acheadany.
I guess we cash in as much as we can and share equally, Amistad has little money saved since most of it has gone into the building and he needs to add more to complete it. Can Earc use a Detect Magic spell on the stuff before we divide it.
What to do next? I think any future expedition to the Morlock tunnels is going to need a much bigger and rounded group (any healers about in town?). For Amistad I think he would be prepared to go back with a bigger group but will also want to invest some time in the logging business and maybe even join another forest / other side of the river expedition. (Catacombs?)
Need to make retainer rolls if we wish to keep with the girls and Amistad will assist Akaara with her report on the tunnels back to the Captain of the guard in the Duke's quarters. Amistad will thank the girls personally and make sure the retainer commitments and promises made are kept. Perhaps we can agree to paying a 'tribute' song off the top of the profits before we split it up.
Achaedany retainer [2d6] = 7 Akaara retainer [2d6] = 6

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
OOC: Actually, I'd reminded you once that the dryad gave you a potion that you hadn't taken and should have, based on your health description.
I think we should sell all but the gems, using them as-is for treasure division because of ease of transport.
Earc got to level 5 with this venture! I'll need to do a bit of checking the rules to see what increases are because of that. Maybe 3rd level spells? Which is cool except that he still only had the one 2nd level spell. So Earc's next goal is to find spells. He's going to hear rumors of the goblin tower with the magicians' spell books in it and want to go there, if anyone wants to join. It will be much closer, which would be a nice change.
Earc can cast Detect Magic on all of the stuff we've gathered, just in case.

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
I'd exclude the blowguns, darts, and chains from the treasure accounting. Weren't there enough of those for everyone to have one if they wanted one, with us leaving some behind? Or am I misremembering?
Also, I'll try to make a treasure split proposal this weekend if we can get a Detect Magic result and some idea of what insect wings and bugbear legs are worth.

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
In detecting magic...
The potions are obviously magical, Created items.
The morlock darts, blowguns, and chains all radiant a faint Imbued magic associated with gifted manufacturing (like some dwarven goods).
The golden ring is an Imbued item with a sense of a paternal Grandfather in it. 4001xp.
Peirpont offers you 25gp each for the pairs of wings and for the spinnerets. You can likely get much more from the merchants if you're willing to wait three months for them to sell them to Southron buyers and return.

That's 25 gp for all the wings and 25 gp for all the spinnerets? Not 25 gp per pair?

Neat.
Are the "24 bear-sized insect wings" 12 pairs, or 24 pairs of wings?

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Earc offers to spend a week or so studying the gold ring to see if he can properly identify what magical powers it might contain.

A week of poking the ring avails no additional knowledge. Does anyone try it on?

I will let both rolls stand as Successes. Remember though, that Akkara was hired by Earc and it is his CHA and roll.Spearmint wrote: Achaedany retainer [2d6] = 7 Akaara retainer [2d6] = 6
Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Tallying up, I see we have both "39 gp (from Orcs) and "39 gold pieces taken from the orcs." Is that just a repeat (we didn't get 39 gp from orcs twice, did we)?
Also, did we want to see what kind of offer we could get for the blowguns and chains, if we want to include those in the treasure accounting?
ETA: Here's the current tally, assuming we can get full metal value out of the broken gold, silver, and electrum stuff:

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Good catch - only one set of 39gp from the orcs.
I total up 450 for the bugbear parts and 2905 for all the coins and metal. Exchanging it all for the 1% fee gives you 2876 + 450 = 3,326gp or 332pp, 6gp.
If you convert gems to cash, you need to use that exchange rate.

Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
That works out well, then, since 2905+450=3355, which is my total above.Marullus wrote:I total up 450 for the bugbear parts and 2905 for all the coins and metal.
Let's leave the exchange fee out of it if we can. We can assume that we sell everything for GP, yes? And that the only time we need to start tracking GP weight is when leaving town? Some PCs might spend their gold fast enough not to have to convert it first, so I'd leave it to each PC to spend or convert his or her gold as needed.Marullus wrote:Exchanging it all for the 1% fee gives you 2876 + 450 = 3,326gp or 332pp, 6gp.
Again, that's for each PC to do, but I'd be surprised if anyone will be selling gems for GP.Marullus wrote:If you convert gems to cash, you need to use that exchange rate.
Re: Expedition - Amistad: Down the Morlock Hole II - 06 July
Because you came back with items, not coins, you should convert up front. It is awkward to try and hawk the Morlocks silverware and dishes at a vendor stall.
