Ablesforth waits until the flies approach before rushing at one.

Knowing he won't be able to reload his crossbow before they arrive, Rhybek take the opportunity to ready his shield and battle axe.

Rhybek enters the flying fray...

Fingers looses another arrow at the fly he hit before then switches to his spear.

"Sprinkles, guard," he commands his dog.

Idriss

Readies his spells but would prefer to use them later so he stands with short sword drawn, ready to ward off any flies trying to dive bomb him. "Surely coaxing them aside with some dead meat or rations may ease our passage?" he says as an after thought as folk attack.

[Marullus]

The seven flies swarm towards the group. Fingers and Silent launch their arrows - Fingers' arrow finds its mark, dropping the insect out of the sky with his second shot.

The party stands ready when the flies arrive - axes, mauls, and short swords flashing. Neegan strikes true - another fly dropping to the ground.

The remaining five flies swarm over the group. Two strike past defenses, their great serrated maws chewing gaping wounds viciously into Fingers and Ablesforth, both of them collapsing to the ground bleeding under the wounds. (-8 and -6, respectively)

The fly dives at Fingers, but Sprinkles is ever faithful and ready. He leaps in the way, the fly chewing on his flesh instead. Sprinkles tries to get his jaws on the bug, but doesn't manage to get a grip, snarling all the while.

(Sprinkles is majorly wounded, Fingers is uninjured)

"GET OFF OF MY DOG!" screams Fingers, stabbing at the fly with his spear.

Idriss Flyswatter

Idriss will poke at one of the flies, having been buzzed and bitten before. Just how big are they to be doing d8 damage? Not much of a swordsman, not much of a mage or entertainer either, Idriss swipes thin air and thinks he should have gone for the dragon eggs instead.

they are listed somewhere earlier by Marullus as the size of a dwarf. Other online sources of them as 3'diameter.

Correct. But, three feet long, not diameter. No less imposing as a bug.

The flies buzz more aggressively, five massive hairy carapaces swarming around the group. Only one manages to make it through the flashing steel of parrying blades, biting the unarmored Idriss and leaving a bleeding wound before being dislodged (-4hp).

Sprinkles barks forcefully as Fingers wheels around with his spear, piercing the offending bug and dropping its now-still form to the ground to be worried by the teeth of his canine companion. Idriss tries to counterstrike at the bug which assaults him but his short sword finds only air. Rhybek's axe hews some legs off the side of one of the bugs (7hp), which seems to make it more angry, but unstable in the air. Neegan roars a dwarven battlecry and cleaves one bug in half from head to thorax, greenish bug-guts splattering across the grasses (Critical hit, 12hp)

Three angry flies continue to harry the group, roused to protect their nest even as their companions fall lifeless.
