Brief overview -

It is the 834 Year of the Third Empire, ruled by Man. The world of the Empire of the Dragon Throne has had many cultures rise, fall, and now are only remembered by old ruins and dusty tomes. Chaotic beings according the the sages rise in power every thousand years, and as if on a plan, they seem to be multiplying in the shadows of the world.

While all part of the empire, each area is given a fair amount of self rule, as long as taxes are paid and legion recruiters are allowed to press gang folks into joining. There are plenty of places that are wild lands, depopulated and full of foul creatures, while there are populus cities with active thieves guilds and political power struggles.

Of course, for those who want to escape the empire, there is the southern continent, a frontier that is both full of danger, and opportunity.

Faiths and gods of the Empire:

Players note: the gods do have some impact (but nothing like say, Forgotten Realms) in the Empire of the Dragon Throne.

The empire has had a long policy of tolerance of faiths, while promoting the "Imperial Cult", it also allows worship as long as it does not involve (Demi)Human Sacrifice or other horrific acts. Not that they do not exist, just that they are suppressed when found.

The Imperial cult -

This group of Seven Gods and Goddesses is supported by the Imperial government and most major towns will have a Chapel of the imperial cult. Generally a chapel will have a alter to one of the gods or goddesses, and shrines to the other six. A full sized Temple will have alters to all Seven.

Name - God/Goddess - Nickname/area of control - detail

Aman - God - "Timekeeper" - Usually shown as a old, bearded man, he carries a timepeice (a sundial or hourglass) in one hand, and the sun in the other. He is the "Creator". Holy Symbol is a seven rayed sun.

Mistra - Goddess - "The Crone/Magic" - Shown as a old woman who realm is magic and wisdom. Holy Symbol is a clear sphere.

Telkos - God - "The Smith" - Shown as a strong man with a hammer, is the patron god of craftmen and tools. Holy Symbol is a stylized hammer.

Peone - Goddess - "The Hearth" - Goddesses of the hearth and the Harvest, she is shown as a middle aged woman, many times a mother. Highly popular among the peasants. Her holy Symbol is a grouping of Grain stalks.

Lyeris - God - "The Warrior" - The god of the Warrior, shown as a man at arms, His holy symbol is of a sword.

Mara - Goddess - "Beauty" - Shown as a young, pretty woman or girl, her symbol is a basket of apples or peaches.

Jacorda/Julian Barbarossa - God (Immortal) - "Justice and Trade" - Shown as a man sitting on a throne. The first emperor, who according to the official documents, obtained immortality and went with the gods. He is view as the patron god of good rulers.

Other Gods and faiths.

There are many other faiths, but this is a small sampling of faiths and gods...

The Old Faith - Worship of nature by Druids is still common in many areas. Most popular in Feras.

Etaoin Shrdlu - A trickster god, patron god of thieves and con men.

Adaghar - The God of Necromancy, and the undead.

Selma - Another goddess of the hearth, who is still popular in the Isles.

What? No equivalent of Crom or Odin? Coenbeorht Kneecapper cares not for these fancy-pants, decadent civilized deities. :D

Well, the Old Faith seems pretty "feral", you could go with that... :)

Do all races follow the same Gods? Or is there also an Elven, Dwarven, etc. pantheon?

Ah, worry not Delazar. Coenbeorht has found his niche. He follows the uncaring Goddess Vash, she who is like Crom but with boobies.

Elves follow the old (druid) gods or the new human ones.

The Dwarves have there own faith, that they generally keep private.

The town or what ever that we're going to(in the 3 paths thread) isn't on the map. Where is it?

That map only shows major cities, if you where to draw a line from Tal Sune and the Imperial City, and Nor to the word "The Burn", the town would be near the intersection of those lines (Just south of the intersection to be exact).
