Re: Second Expedition
The area beyond the first curtain to the north has no other exits that you can see. Nor does the area beyond the first curtain to the south.
There are at least two more sets of curtains, north and south, to the east. The corridor may, or may not, continue past the last set of curtains you can see.
Or you could go back to the four-way intersection and head south, west, or back north.

Re: Second Expedition
I'm still an advocate of going to the intersection and heading north to make sure our exit has not been cut off, as my understanding of the Detect Evil spell seems to indicate. Once that's clear we can search these barrows further. Silva leads the way back to check it out.

You are in the eastern corridor from the four-way intersection, where the curtains are.
Re: Second Expedition
(My bad. Can we forget the part about running in since I as a player was confused? If so/not: ) The boys edge further down the hallway of curtains, ready for surprises, especially the pit traps that Avery sensed mere moments ago.Raven Crowking wrote:You are in the eastern corridor from the four-way intersection, where the curtains are.

Re: Second Expedition
Okay. You are now near the second set of curtains.
You can now clearly see the third set beyond that.

Re: Second Expedition
You move past the second set of curtains, which rustle and sway from the faint breeze of your passage.
You are now at the third set of curtains. Ten feet beyond these curtains, the passage enters a T-shaped intersection, giving you a choice of going left or right.

"Ahead and to the left," Avery says, and carefully, the party moves ahead that way.

Re: Second Expedition
You move past the third set of curtains, which also billow eerily in your wake.
Reaching the intersection, you see an open pit immediately to the right, and Avery hears celestial trumpets warn him of a hidden pit immediately beyond it. That way seems to go at least 30 feet.
The left way, which you take, goes 20 feet before there is a set of alcoves, to your right and left, in which large stone statues are set. They appear to be statues of robed women bearing staves, each about seven feet high. They have garlands of stone flowers carved in their hair, and are shod in sandals laced to mid-calve.

(Does the hallway continue left?)
Avery warns the rest of the party about the pit trap he can sense. Herman and Girt cautiously approach the statues.

Re: Second Expedition
Beyond the first set of statues, there is 10 feet of blank wall, and then another set of alcoves containing similar statues. The passage seems to continue beyond.
As Herman and Girt approach, the eyes of the statues seem to follow their progress up the hallway.

Re: Second Expedition
"Those eyes," Girt says, and he raises his shield to protect himself as he edges past the statues. He and Herman move back to back past the eerie, and armed, statues.

Re: Second Expedition
There are three sets of such statues, and their eyes seem to follow you as you walk down the hallway.
Ten feet beyond the last pair of statues, the corridor ends in a closed door -- but much of the lower half of the door has been bitten and gnawed away!

Re: Second Expedition
Shall we kick in the door? Milner kicks in the door (STR check 16). Silva readies a flaming arrow to shoot whatever lies behind.

Re: Second Expedition
The door flies open under Milner's boot, coming off its remaining hinge and landing with a thud in the room beyond. Although only a 20-foot square area, the room beyond is a nest of the dog-sized rat-things. One of them squeals as the door strikes it.
Silva quickly lets off a fiery arrow, slaying one of the rats.
What do you do?

Re: Second Expedition
Giant, Girt and Herman rally round the door, ready to slay any horror that emerges, Avery close by encouraging the fighters to victory.

Re: Second Expedition
Silva's arrow goes wild, striking the wall rather than a rat-thing. Milner's oil flask is on target, landing in a group of the rat-things. They are aware of you now, though, and will act on the next round.
Re: Second Expedition
(Initiative 15) Tired of waiting, Giant and Girt rush into the rat room to do battle! Girt swings his mace (AC 11, hp 4), and Giant snarls and bites (AC 18, HP 3).
