You know what? Avery, Girt, Silva, and Milner each get +1 Luck for posting, as the gods smile upon their involvement.

Girt and Giant rush in. Girt swings, ineffectually, and Giant snaps at a rat-thing, wounding it sorely but not sorely enough to kill it.

Girt and Giant find themselves surrounded by the creatures, which snap at them with sharp yellow teeth. Girt is bit by two of the things, taking a total of 3 points of damage. Giant is a little less lucky, taking 7 points total from three successful attacks, including one from the great black rat-thing that seems to be the leader.

Next round?

Silva charges into the fray layin about himself with his longsword, driving back the beasts surrounding his friends. Ac14 (no deed) 3hps

Milner also charges in with his pitchfork, careful not to expose himself to more than one ratthing. Ac17 hps2

Girt wades further in to the room praying to Ulesh to freeze his foes in place (paralysis, spell check 19). He makes his way towards the big tough looking rat. Giant snaps at a rat (AC 12, 4 hp).

Silva charges into the fray, drawing his longsword as he does so (and presumably dropping his bow). He slices and kills one of the rat-things, which dies with a curse snarling from its lips.

Milner also charges in, and stikes the big black leader. He does damage it, but not nearly enough to kill it.

Silva gets bitten by two of the rat-things, taking a total of 4 hp damage.

Milner seems protected by the gods, as two of the rat-things snap at him with clear misses, but then the big black leader bites him for 3 hp damage. With a sneer, the leader spits blood and laughs. "Eat you eat you eat you soon!" the chittering thing promises.

Girt and Giant are both bitten by rats-things, and take 1 hp damage each.

Ulesh hears Girt's prayer, and his weapon is charged with the power of the god. He makes his way toward the big, tough-looking rat-thing that just bit Milner. Giant snaps at another rat-thing, and misses by the skin of his teeth.

Girt roars and swings is mace, trailing electrical fire, into the sneering face of the big black rat-thing (AC 15, 2 HP, plus Paralysis (I don't see the formula for calculating saves. If it's based on the original roll, it's 19 Will).

Herman lunges into the room and battles the rats swarming around Giant. He golf swings at a rat (AC 14, 1 HP).

Avery also comes into the rat-room. He lays his hand on the haunch of Giant, praying to Ulesh to restore the vitality of the faithful, yet flagging, canine (Total spell check (18+2) 20).

"Oh gods protect us!" cry out both Milner and Silva. "For we cannot suffer more!"
Milner carefully withdraws from battle, protecting himself as best he can.
Silva bravely turns to strike down the hulking rat-aberration. (indeed his bow was left behind in the doorway). Hard earned Luck(3) turn his blade through the things hide.

Withdrawing from the battle, Milner suffers attacks from two of the rat-things. Both rolls are a "6", so he has withdrawn safely, leaving Silva, Herman, Avery, Girt, and Giant to face the remaining nine foes.

Silva strikes the hulking aberration, hitting it and drawing a pained hiss from the creature, but it does not fall.

Girt then roars and swings his mace, finishing the thing off. You are right about the save, jferngler, but it is immaterial right now....the big rat-thing is dead!

Herman wounds a rat, but does not kill it.

Avery may roll healing for Giant, having given him back 1d6 hp per Hit Die.

With their leader gone, the remaining rat-things check for morale, but are determined to keep fighting! Girt is attacked by two of the creatures, one of which hits for 3 points of damage. Herman is attacked by a single rat-thing, which misses. Avery is attacked by two, one of which hits...also for 3 hp damage.

Giant is attacked by a single rat-thing, which hits for...3 points of damage.

And then two of the things attack Silva, both hitting, and both rolling...3 points of damage, for a total of 6 hp damage.

Silva falls beneath the rodentia onslaught, his glittering blade fallin from nervless fingers.
Milner howls in anguish and dives back into the fray, jabbing with his fork.

Holy light explodes from Avery's hands as Giant is restored to full health in a flash (healed 19 damage, far exceeding the pup's total).

(Next round, group initiative is 14)

Girt critically fumbles a follow-up swing of his mace.

Herman also critically fumbles his attack roll.

Giant bites (or doesn't) AC 5.

Avery commands the rat that attacked him to flee (spell check 11).

(Dang it. On my initiative, everyone dies.)

Recall that Giant is healed and then bit, so he currently has 3 hp damage.

At the start of the next round, a comedy of errors or a tragedy of sorts occurs, depending upon your point of view. But first, what are Girt and Herman's current Luck modifiers?

Thank you.

Girt misses, the head of his mace seperating from the shaft to roll at his feet, now useless, but still crackling with divine power. Somewhere, some malevolent deity is chuckling.

Herman trips during his attack, but makes up for it with a natural 20 on his Reflexes save, so that naught truly goes amiss save the attack itself. Somewhere, some benevolent deity is smiling.

Avery commands the thing attacking him to flee, but doesn't feel divine power surging through his voice. He now has automatic disapproval on a natural roll of 1-2.

Giant attempts to bite, but the rat-thing eludes him.

Milner hits, and kills a rat-thing.

Unfortunately, there are still seven left (two injured), and five of you yet standing, including Giant. Two of the rat-things attack Milner, and two attack Avery; the rest are attacked by a single rat-thing apiece.

Both attacking Milner roll a 6....weird. That's four sixes in a row against Milner.

Of the attacks that follow, only Herman is hit...he takes 3 hit points of damage.

By the grace of the smiling Fates, even with two fumbles, the fight is not over!

Swearing mightily at the beast that's chomped him, Herman brings his mace down with all the fury he can muster (AC 14, 6 HP).

Giant tears into one of her foes (AC 14, 2 HP)

Girt drops the useless handle of his mace, and Avery takes his hand. Together the boys call on the might of Ulesh to drive their hated foe away or to destruction. They speak with one voice, eerily harmonizing as they ask for divine assistance, "By the power that binds the expansive universe and the worthless flesh together, in the name of peace, in the name of law, Ulesh, hear our prayer! Cast out these unholy works, these enemies of your will!" The words crescendo, and deepen, and the torchlight flares. (I don't know if you can assist on a spell check, so they both rolled turn checks, Avery's 17 total, and Girt's a total of 20; if assists are possible, Avery, with the worse luck score, assists Girt's turn attempt.)

Herman brings down his mace, slaying the beast that bit him. Giant likewise bites a rat-thing, and, shaking his head like a mighty terrier, sends it across the room to lie in an unmoving heap.

Girt and Avery, filled with righteous fury, call upon the power of Ulesh, and the remaining rat-things flee in terror!

As the rat-things rush out of the room, Milner strikes and kills one. Likewise, Giant and Herman are given a free attack. Giant misses with a 6, but Herman rolls a natural 20. His mace strikes the thing right in the eye as it rushes past, turning its head to a paste of grey-red jelly. The three remaining rat-things run squealing down the corridor, past the stone eyes of the six watching statues, and into darkness.

Milner rolls over Silva. Hoping against hope that he is still alive, but it is not to be. Silva
Is dead.
Milner sadly but reverentially relieves his dead mentor of all earthly belongings and promises to continue the fight, such as it is.

Everyone carefully searches the room while the clerics bless and perform last rights for Silva. Then they will begin heading for the surface. Herman gives his mace to the cleric and asks Milner for one of his blades.
