Summary: The Trap Is Sprung…Prematurely
Calendar: 8:57 pm - July 10th, 9001
Location: Undercity Bottom Level – Ancient Temple

Lyaera, having overheard the conversation between the guards and the rest of her party, quickly assumes the assumed role of the party and urges the slaves to work. She quickly engages in conversation with the guards, perhaps to throw them off guard so they don’t figure out the 3rd guard has a large pick-axe hole in his head. Her hopes are quickly dashed as Pirate-Bandit 2 notices his companion's predicament and stands dumbfounded at what his eyes are seeing.

Rakjak takes full advantage of the enemy’s pause and attempts to pounce on the unaware Pirate-Bandit 1 with his handaxe. In his haste he fails to account for the powdery volcanic dust covering the floor, as well as his padded feet, and his feet fly out from underneath him. His arms flail about the air as his face swiftly approaches the dirty floor. The axe, swinging wildly, slices into Pirate-Bandit 1’s rear calf, as Rakjak comes face to face with the floor, in a hard way.

Pirate-Bandit 1 lets out a horrible cry, “Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhrgh!!!, that echoes down and out the entrance tunnel, giving up all hope of a stealthy entrance. Dram and Caiden, already poised and at the ready, release their shots. Lyaera’s axe hits Pirate-Bandit 1 in the chest, throwing him off balance. He falls to the floor and begins tugging at the axe, while moaning loudly. Caiden’s arrows, following on the heel of Lyaera's axe, swiftly find their mark a few seconds later; one into the fallen Pirate-Bandit 1, finishing him off, the other protruding from the chest of Pirate-Bandit 2.

Pirate-Bandit 2 Initiative [1d10+1] = 6+1 = 7
Kel Initiative [1d10] = 1
Kel’s Forest Axe Damage: 1d8+3=8

Pirate-Bandit 2 begins to let out a gurgled scream, “Guaaa…grgle. Kel cuts him off short with a Forest axe to the back. The guard’s eyes go dark as his body falls limp to the floor, Kel’s axe still firmly planted in his ribcage.

Pirate-Bandit 2 wears chainmail armor with a tarnished scimitar and dagger at his side. Pirate-Bandit 1 wears light leather with a short sword and simple knife at his side. They both have small leather pouches strapped to their belts.

Great job with that scene guys. Well, other than Rakjak’s fumble that is :)
NOTE: Roughly 9 minutes have passed since descending the ropes. Another guard was set to arrive in one minute. After that commotion, I would imagine several are on their way, if they heard it.

NPC Post: Zirus – Lizard Man
NPC Post: Tobias – Grimalkin (Zirus’ friend)

Zirus, hearing the Guards scream, leaves Tobias to watch for reinforcements and rushes to the party to see what all the commotion is. Upon arrival he will ask, "Have our plans-s-s changed then?" He eyes the dead guards and scared slaves, his tongue flicking the air mildly, his eyes slowly moving from one party member to the next.

Human Flesh Weakness DC: 20 - 1 (Avg Human level) - 15 (Amulet) + 6 Humans + 6 (+2/dead bleeding Human)= 16
WIS-DC [3d6+2] = 11+2 = 13

Then it hits him, the scent of fresh Human blood. His eyes and mouth begin watering uncontrollably, long stings of thick saliva begin to hang from the edges of his thick leathery Lizard lips.

CHA-DC [3d6-1] = 8-1 = 7

Zirus lunges at the dead body of Pirate-Bandit 2 and begins tearing, ripping, and devouring its flesh with a heinous rumble of growls, hisses, and moans of pleasure. "The fles-s-sh. S-S-S-S-S-UCCULENT Fles-s-sh!!!!!"

NPC Post: Gavin Moorehouse – Human

Gavin flinches at Zirus' actions, "What the...What is he doing? Someone... I..." Unsure what is going on or what should be done about it, Gavin turns to Lyaera, "Take the slaves into the temple and then take a position for when the guards arrive. The rest of you flank the tunnel and prepare for a fight. Tobias should return any time now, try not to shoot him." Gavin gives Zirus a confused look, unsure what can or should be done to stem the Lizardman's lust. He takes up a position behind a nearby column, takes a heavy mace in each hand, and waits for the guards to arrive.

NPC Post: Tobias – Grimalkin (Zirus’ friend)

Tobias comes trotting out of the tunnel in his usual black cat form. He approaches the hunched, ravenous form of Zirus and stares at him momentarily, “Oh dear. You have succumbed to your base instincts my friend. Whatever shall we do with you?” Turning reluctantly, Tobias quickly finds Gavin and reports, “There is a commotion emanating from the west. I did not see guards nor torch light, but it sounds as if they are massing in force. There was shouting and clanking of arms. They are surely close behind my entrance. I shall take a rear position and catch stragglers, if I must.” Tobias slinks of to the rear, inspecting the temple as he goes, apparently uncaring as to the impending advance of enemy guards.

Caiden stood silently as Zirus fed on the dead guard remembering a time when he could have met the same fate, he simply smiles and tells Gavin, "Don't mind him, he will take it harder on himself more than anyone else"

Caiden sees more bandits come in and as he does he releases two more arrows at the closest

Calendar: 9:01 pm - July 10th, 9001
Location: Undercity Bottom Level – Ancient Temple

Caiden and Lyaera waste no time knocking arrows, and just as Pirate-Bandit 5 is about to skewer Zirus, Caiden sends an arrow though the man’s shoulder. Letting out a scream, he veers off to one side, his blade scraping across Zirus’ scales.

Caiden and Lyaera fire off a second round of arrows, Lyaera’s shoots through and out the other side of Pirate-Bandit 7’s neck. His attempted scream comes out as nothing more than a loud gurgle, followed by red foamy bubbles. He tumbles to the floor clutching his neck. Caiden’s arrow shoots well over Pirate-Bandit 6’s head, slams into the far wall, and shatters.

Kel comes charging into the fray, his mighty forest axe swinging with ease, cleaving a terrible gash through Pirate-Bandit 6. The man crumples to the floor and moves no more.

Pirate-Bandit 4, seeing his comrades fall easily, falters, and attempts to veer clear of Zirus. The Lizardman swings his snake scepter at the man but just misses.

Pirate-Bandits 5 & 6 lay moaning on the dusty rock floor, while Pirate-Bandit 4 attempts to flee back the way he came. Rakjak, having just peeled his bruised face from the dusty floor, watches as the Pirate-Bandits go down one-by-one.

Rakjak

Rakjak will skirt to the edges of the combat, ducking behind his own teammates to serve as both distraction and shield against the enemy as he moves through. Once he gets an opportunity to strike at a bandit that is occupied Rakjak will swerve in and hack at the man's legs, aiming for a main vein to bleed the target out as well as greatly hinder their movement.

Rakjak Handaxe: Init: [1d10] = 5 To Hit: [1d20] = 19, Damage: [1d6] = 4

Rakjak gives joyous barks of laughter as his swing hits home.
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.

Creature Post:

Pirate Bandit 4 – Human (AC: 9, HD: 1)

Pirate-Bandit 4, seeing his comrades fall with ease, and having no inclination, or backbone to speak of, to stay and die himself, flees with all the determination and gusto he can muster, back the way he came.

DEX-DC To Flee [3d6-1] = 13-1 = 12
