A momentary blue-white beam lances straight down from Ike's skimmer, bathing the security vehicle in light. There's no cinematic 'zaaap', no fireworks, just a small motion as the mounted automatic weapon drops to aim at the vehicle's engine compartment. The target was the vehicle on the upper right corner of the 'mall' map (NW corner).

Any luck on crashing the drone into one of the other vehicles?

Your Guide has been unable to override the drone's control system so far.

Tal circles the wrecked building, heading for SamanEric's truck. It's obvious why the truck stopped- there is a puddle of oil with some pieces of metal under the engine compartment, and all of the tires (solid-core runflats) have been hit with enough concentrated fire to tear hunks out of them. Driving on them would be worse than trying to use square wheels. Even without the engine trouble, it will be several hours to replace enough tires to drive the thing.

Ike Heinlein, of the Double Minds

Waiting in the sky, the starman monitors communication while his saucer energy repowers from the EMP cannon. He circles the area to see if reinforcements may be on the way.

[Urson]

The only thing Ike sees is that the other security vehicles are moving toward Tel's position with the wrecked truck. They're hauling butt, too.

[Pulpatoon]

Tel: "Ike, what's that saucer's hauling capacity? It might be easiest to uncouple the trailer and run with it."

Era-appropriate toolkit in hand, Tel slides over to the engine and sets to work. leaving it to the others to hold off the security vehicles, and hoping someone has a workable idea for the tires.

[Urson]

The truck is a single unit, not a tractor-trailer. And the saucer's carrying capacity is not nearly enough.

The engine appears mostly intact. On closer inspection, it seems the oil pan was ripped open- probably when the truck rolled into the wreckage of the mall. It will need replaced, plus 3 gallons of motor oil.

[Monsieur Rose]

"Lana? Do we know what the cargo is? It looks like that truck isn't going anywhere fast, we may need to transfer and bolt."

Axel thinks for a bit, then with a shrug suggests that:
"If someone with a faster vehicle can play bait and pull the security off of the truck, I will get in there and check the cargo."

The man continues typing furiously. If he cannot crash the drone, perhaps he can fabricate obstacles to divert the vehicles?

Tel relays the information to the others as she sets to work on the truck. "This requires more than the supplies on hand. I have a few pints of motor oil, but not the gallons this beast will require. And I don't have the appropriate tires. If anyone does, speak up. Otherwise, our best bet may be to knock out local security, and then set up an ambush for this... what's it called? Transport One. Use it for parts. But, uh, there's a lot of unknowns, down that path."

[Urson]

Breeze: The drone hesitates, then moves into a circling pattern. I have control of the observation drone. It is unarmed, but can be used for surveilance, recon, or a kamikazi attack.

Axel: The cargo is gold bullion. There may also be weapons, salvaged machinery, or useful data onboard.

Congrats! I never even considered you ambushing Transport One.

Well...now that we have control maybe we see about the other vehicles.

Ike brings his saucer down from the clouds and looks for the nearest security vehicle.

[Urson]

The nearest of the security vehicles is skidding into position as the gun lines up to fire on Tel. the other two are heading that way. you'll be able to get in one action before it fires.

Is Breeze trying to get control of another security vehicle?

Furiously.

Tel continues working at the truck, calling out to the Flying Knife to target the nearest vehicle.

Ike Heinlein, spaceman

Ike arcs his saucer down behind the security vehicle aiming at Tel. He fires his tractor-beam at the rear right wheel, hoping the 250 lbs of pressure pulling the tire will send the truck out of control.

What should I roll?

Marlowe fires his revolver at the truck's wheels, hoping to blow one out.

[Urson]

don't worry about die rolls and such. I'll take care of that.

Between the tractor beam on one side and Marlowe's pistol on the other, the security vehicle skids to a stop. The .30 cal machine gun opens up, spraying a half-dozen rounds at Tal, all of which miss. The gun falls suddenly silent, even though it continues a sweep across the disabled cargo truck, Tal, and his precious Citroen.

[Monsieur Rose]

"Screw it" thinks Axel while he puts the large bus into gear and guns the engine.

Axel will try and intercept the incoming security vehicles in a collision-y manner.

"Fasten your seat belts Lana, it's going to get bumpy!
Someone get to the cargo and see if there are any weapons we could use.

[Urson]

Tal's Flying Knife slams into the front tire of the security vehicle at the same time as the shot and tractor beam disable the rear end.

Axel's party bus bears down on one of the two remaining security vehicles, which fires a burst of .30 cal through the windshield, scattering safety glass everywhere. It's on the wrong side to hit Axel, but he is pelted with glass. He strikes the rear end of the vehicle a glancing blow, spinning it out. It blows a tire as it spins, but recovers, still heading for the cargo truck and Tal.
