Moments after Rummus covers the lantern, shrouding the group in total darkness, a light at the edge of the corridor to the east springs into existence. No details can be made about the person or thing responsible for bring the light into being, however, and all remains quiet in that direction with no hint of movement.

For the moment, there is no activity from the held door to the north, the second door to the west, or the gap opposite it detected.

Xhahl grunts, "Verily," and places a hand on Relve's shoulder to follow the dwarf east.

Bingus follows with hand on the shoulder of the person in front of him, quite unnerved by the inability to see.

"They ain't coming to us," growls Malfindel; his scowl epitomizing the frustration the group feels as the standoff they're unwillingly a part of. "I say we move east and see what is through this open hallway," Rummus suggests, and when those behind him, especially those without the benefit of being able to see in the infrared spectrum, begin grabbing the shoulder of the person in front of them, he takes the lead.

Moving slowly, guiding himself by allowing his hands to drag along the walls of the pitch black hallway, Rummus spans almost half 30-foot distance of the stone cold floor leading up to the narrow entrance before stopping short. He, and those immediately behind him, can't help but plug their noses as a terrible stench permeates from the other side the narrow entry at the end of the unexplored eastern passage. The area beyond reeks of animal waste and a powerful skunk-like odor.

Rummus calls back,
I'm a thinking this is their privy location. Do one of you dwarves want to investigate? it seems more up your alley.

Assuming no volunteers, he will continue forward, ready to let loose an arrow on anything that attacks.

Xhalh Vhaldharian, human "knight'

The bumbling banneret was confused. He thought they were going to move east, toward the sound (toward 21), not retreat from the chance at glorious battle.

He stands guard again while the others investigate the small passage.

Bingus pulls his trusty wool sweater from his pack and holds it over his nose. "Whoooo-eeee!" he whispers. "I heard of an outhouse, but there ain't no sense in an inhouse! These men're more backwards than I thought!"

He remains near the door, firmly of the opinion that inspecting a latrine will bring nothing but trouble.

Malfindel scrunches up her nose worse than usual. "That place stinks worse than dwarves!" she says. "Enough pissing about. Let's grow us a pair and deal with whatever was across the bridge and to the south." (Past squares 25-30.)

Xhalh agrees with the elf maiden's sentiment, if not her bitching.
"Fair maiden, if thou dost not take care, strangers might mistaketh thee for an ill-bred, surly, harpy-esque flax-wench.

"Uh... Pray, let us regroup and advance to yonder southern corridors."

"I'm a thinking this is their privy location," Rummus calls back. "Do one of you dwarves want to investigate? It seems more up your alley." Dorin, standing immediately behind the lead elf, spits: "I ain't no waste workin' dwarf. If it smells like shite, it must be shite," he protests. Bingus pulls his trusty wool sweater from his pack and holds it over his nose. "Whoooo-eeee!" he whispers. "I heard of an outhouse, but there ain't no sense in an inhouse! These men're more backwards than I thought!" he says, lingering back by the door while Rummus pushes forward, twisting his form to pass through the narrow crevice, never letting loose his grip on his bow.

Behind the vanguard trio pressing their way east towards, and through, the narrow crevice, Malfindel and Xhalh look to resume exploring the "main" eastern branch, still cast in darkness. Relve, in the rearmost position, finds himself in a position to lead again and begins to slowly make his way east towards the illuminated area on the far side of the corridor, and towards the unidentified arrivals clad in metal.

For the northern group: (Rummus, Dorin, Bingus)
Rummus steps into a rough cut chamber with a collection of various weapons and pieces of armor lying about the floor, including sections of plate mail, a helm, swords, and other armaments. The room wreaks of a vile stench -- like the emissions from a skunk -- and, before Rummus has a chance to survey the area more closely, or even allow Dorin to enter behind him, a scraping sound is heard arriving from the single apparent exit in the chamber, to the north, where a small bear-looking creature with white stripes is rushing towards him!
For the southern group: (Luthon, Malfindel, Xhalh, Relve)
As Relve begins advancing towards the light and the metal-clad visitors, they begin to advance in his direction as well.

Actions?

For now, since, based upon the declared actions, there are two separate groups, please wrap all updates in the 'spoiler' tag.

Northern route folks:
Rummus yells, Need help and quickly places down his lantern, and then steps to the right to fire a shot, while letting Dorin and others in.
