Elethil joins the group near the back doors. The less he needs to show his elven face, the better.

Everyone else? Or just continue on...
Even a child that receives one bit of praise has the ability to excel in a single talent, and those who receive regular encouragement can feel confidence, achieve success, and become leading members of society. Going on the assumption that Flynn is taking the lead while going through the front entrance.

The group splits up into their parties and begins making way to the Sally Conch. It is heavily congested at the moment due to all the ships being on lock down right now. Many sailors and traders are found lounging about the dock area outside. As you enter the establishment, you are met with the ambient roar of laughter, conversation, general merrymaking, and even a drunken fist fight in the back of the room. The tables are filled and the servers are running back and forth with drinks and meals.

The crowds are mixed, a whole bunch of people from different walks of life are found: sailors, traders, dock workers, visiting nobles and the occasional person in rags panhandling or trying his luck at cards and dice. Of the taverns patrons, a very loud Wessiwiser makes himself known. Having failed to leave the docks like everyone else, he is found at a table with this crew. A few people approach the former mayor's table: a young man who looks like he is fresh off the fields and looking for a life of adventure, a middle-aged man dressed in fairly decent cloth that has taken an interest in the gem merchant's sale's pitch, and a couple of sailors who start to poke fun about the mayor's frilly cuffs (they are clearly drunk).

Flynn will casually mingle in the crowd and look for their prey.

Deceidon sits, orders a drink, listens for rumors, and keeps an eye open for Fenrin.

"Do you have any magics to sniff him out?" he asks Matkinsai.

The group keeps a vigilante eye out for their target as they casually mingle with the busy crowds. Stories of last night's execution float around, and some appear skeptical about the reasons behind it as the details are shared. The two freelancer twins accompanying the mayor Wessiwiser recognize Flynn and Deceidon. They stay at their table though and just give a friendly nod. It seems as if the mayor has them on a tight leash metaphorically speaking. The man who approached the shady gem merchant seems to take a greater interest in merchant's wares. They both leave the table and head their way to the front. The shady merchant stops though and stares out one of the windows. He spots Whitsell and makes a sneer. He promptly turns around and motions the man to follow him to the back entrance. Flynn and Deceidon notices this exchange within their peripheral vision.

Setting all the talks of the execution aside, other stories float around as well. Warnings of pirate attacks at certain ports, bandit activity in other lands fills the air. Tales of a noble's frequent string of disappearances on certain moonlit nights, and some sailor was even talking about how he swear he saw a towering building in the middle of a jungle island. A man who looks like he works in the fields for a living mentions that the lands around his town have suffered for the longest time, that the harvests keep on yielding fewer and fewer each year. He believes that evil magic is behind it, something that almost everyone says now-a-days about things going wrong.

Since Whitsell stayed outside for his search, his attention was not fully directed inside.

Whitsell will roll for surprise this round to see if he notices and can act before the merchant does. You are currently near the front. Here is the enemy roll:

Flynn will give Deceidon a discrete nod and casually head back to the front door. Once outside he'll tap Whitsell and run towards the back of the tavern, careful to stop at the corner to squat and peak toward the back door.

Deceidon waits a few moments until Flynn leaves, then gets up and walks to the back door.

Whitsell will run around the other side toward the back, (unless he did spot the merchant)...

Whitsell noticed the merchant, but the merchant did not notice him noticing... if that makes any sense.

THen Whitsell will approach the merchant...
Excuse me, but I think we have some business to discuss. Did you think that selling fake jewels would go unpunished?

He makes sure his sword is visible.

Whitsell notices the shady merchant the same time Flynn and Deceidon overhears their conversation inside. He takes the initiative and confronts the shady gem dealer openly...

After what happened back in the prison realm, Whitsell's honest face was the last thing he wanted to see. The shady dealer puts up his best mask and says in a defiant, but slightly shaken tone, "I-I have no idea what you are g-going on about... you, whoever you are!" He points a gnarled finger for added effect. "This fine man wanted to see my completely legitimate wares, and-" He notices the sword. "GUARDS!"

The people inside the Sally Conch stop their conversations and the room becomes briefly quiet as they stare at the interesting spectacle unfolding before them. After an awkward moment of waiting, conversations continue after a roar of laughter, much to the gem dealer's, and Wessiwiser's, expense. No guards came, and the ones who were present just looked away and went back to nursing their drinks. The man who showed interest in buying the gems slowly starts to back away and make his leave.

Whitsell hails the man before he leaves,
Man, might you be the supplier of his fraudulent wares? Stop now, I insist.

"Oh! Are you referring to me my lord?" He points to his chest with a questioning look. "I assure you that I had no part in any bad business. I just thought that he actually had something for a moment there..." The man looks at the sword and Whitsell's face, switching between the two in an alarmed state. He takes a slow step back.

Deceidon tensely follows the conversation, while keeping an eye out for Fenrin and his known associates.
