Lar warns about traps. Castran invisibly watches the rear. You hear a clatter approaching from above; seconds later, a battered and broken helmet that was once plumed rolls down the stairs. It disappears at the foot of the stairs with a splash (unless someone wants to pick it up as it rolls).

The rest of you watch as Scarlett wades into the inky black water. She descends until the water reaches her waist at its full depth then proceeds carefully forward toward the south door. She comes just short of the alcove leading to the south door when an explosion of air and water flies up around her. Scarlett suddenly falls from sight, leaving only a slowly dissipating swirl in the water.

You have barely a moment to take this in when half a dozen dark forms rise from the water just in front of you—the shapes of several undead horrors you're pretty sure you faced a few minutes ago!
Lar is already right behind Scarlett and Gragog in the marching order, isn't he? He and Gragog are the only ones in a position to attack this round.

Agax can go back for the light coin, but you can't "back-date" an action. Especially since Agax already has a light source of his own, I won't assume he picks up another one unless you say so at the time of the move. Sorry. Agax can go back to get the coin as his move this turn if he wants to.

Shinyah, Druid

The druid will go back up the stairs and get the continually lit coin.

Lar was just making sure he was near the front if not already there.

If Lar sees Gragog's attack he will try to assist his companion against the same creature. He says, "Where did Scarlett go?"

The watery wights attack! Two are in position at the front of the submerged hall. Gragog easily dodges the one attacking him, but the other swipes Lar across the arm. The scratch is minor, but a chill fills his body (-3 HP; -1 level). Shocked by the cold, his counterattack is weak. Gragog, however, is able to spear the one on him in the shoulder.

Bragar moves into position in the second rank and fires a solid shot into the shoulder of one of the wights further back in the hall. Agax also moves down just behind Gragog and attempts to turn the undead but they are unfazed.

The other heroes are unable to get a shot at combat because of the curvature of the stairs. Castran maintains an invisible defensive posture. Petyr and Bogdana maintain their positions. Shinyah takes the opportunity to go back upstairs to retrieve the light coin.
Lar loses one level; please adjust his sheet to 33 max HP and THAC0 to 16.

It will take Shinyah until next round to return, so he's out of action for the next round.

Can the rest of us get by or are the JLos still blocking the stairwells with their big asses? :D

If Castran can get past the others he will swig one of the gypsy potions and test out his water walking ring, drawing his Shortsword ready to attack.

Can he see how many wights are emerging?

Those at the front of the party can see that there are half a dozen wights.

Gragog and Lar are at the bottom of the stairs at the edge of the water. Bragar and Agax are behind them, up the stairs but still able to target the wights in the hall. Castran can move forward if someone in the rank he wants to move to agree to move back.

Lar grunts at the chilled strike. He tries to make room for any of the others to come down and assist them and he swings at any creature that's been hit already or the next closest one, "Where is Scarlett friends?"

To Hit AC0 (16) Bastard Sword +1, [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6, Dmg vs sm [2d4+1] = 3+1 = 4 Dmg vs L [2d8+1] = 12+1 = 13

The wights take initiative but are slowed by the deep water. Lar and Gragog easily avoid their attacks. The wight that was attacking Gragog slips on something in the water and falls with a splash!

You counterattack. Grog stabs the wight under water like an expert spear fisherman. The other wight dodges Lar's clumsy swing. Bragar puts another bolt in the face of the wight he hit before. Though it seems unmortally wounded, it does not yet drop.

Agax, having seen enough, calls forth a bolt of lightning that strikes down the length of the hallway. It hits the water, sending sparks shimmering across the surface. You hear a wet thlump where Gragog's attacker lies under the water. Bragar's target finally collapses. The other four wights are singed but survive, with the one at the very back looking like a well-placed stone shot would kill it.
A combination of a poor damage roll and great saving throws by the wights means more of them survived than I thought would.

(The wight fighting Gragog rolled a critical miss, which would have meant it got no attack next round and would continue to block other wights from getting to the front of combat, but it got zapped to death so that doesn't end up mattering.

Agax Gryyg, game mage:

“What?! Still standing?! That’s impossible!” the excitable electrocutioner proclaimed as he cast three darts at the weakest wight! (the one that could be felled by a stone)

Agax Darts: To hit: [1d20] = 18, S/M damage:[1d3] = 3, L damage:[1d2] = 1
Agax Darts: To hit: [1d20] = 6, S/M damage:[1d3] = 2, L damage:[1d2] = 2

“Find Scarlett, please,” he urged softly. “I’m afraid I fear the worst.”

Our heroes take the initiative this round. Lar and Gragog combine to fell the wight in front of them. Agax throws three darts at the heavily-wounded wight toward the back. Two of the darts clink against the walls of the corridor and fall into the black water; the third, however, strikes the wight in the eye. The wight falls.

The two remaining wights press their attack. Gragog blocks one with his shield and counters with a spear to the arm. The other wight grabs Lar's pretty face by the chin! Lar shudders as feels the now too-familiar chill draining his soul (-3 HP, -1 level).

Those in the back of the group notice that Shinyah has not yet returned.
That drops Lar to level 4, with 27 HP. His saving throws also changed.

I just noticed that Gragog should be attacking twice every other round because of weapon specialization. Last round should have been a two-attack round. I rolled an extra attack for last round and applied it this round. GreyWolfVT, go ahead and roll two attacks next round.

Lar has been updated.

Lar releases a chilling moan as the wight strikes his face. He shakes off the chilling and numbing sensation and says, "By Ohama's hand I will end you fiend. We are coming for you Strahd. Ohama will protect me and guide me."
