No responses to the roll call so far.

Please go and propose scenes on the other thread. I'm happy to proceed with another scene for the active players while giving others a chance to return. Thoughts?

I'd be happy to continue the scene with Durgar, Whitfield and Ilreth by the campfire, to get my character acquainted with them... and hopefully introduce the prophecy theme.

I'm happy to continue as availability permits. I think Niping has enough of his background & character intermingled with other PCs that figuring out future scenes won't be a problem, regardless of who sticks around.

Happy Holidays everyone! Sorry for my unresponsiveness - I've been without computer access for the last week or so. In any case I'm home and ready to dive back in.
What I'd like to know:
Are you having fun?
Are the rules making sense?
Do you need more/less rules guidance moving forward? (I'm providing a lot of mechanics to help the learning curve and want to know if it is helpful and/or needed)
What do you like?
What are you not liking?
- I'm enjoying the game so far.
- The rules are clicking but I definitely find the mechanical guidance useful as I get more comfortable with the system.
- I'm enjoying everyone's role play and learning the BW ropes.
- I agree with Spectreman17 that the pace of the game is a bit slow but I'm not sure we can do much about that. If I have been slow to post it's because being human in this group has been pretty difficult so far. Whitfield disagrees with you guys on pretty much everything so I'm looking for opportunities to evolve his beliefs and have him see Dwarves as individuals and not one people who he blames for Dale's demise. I don't want for him to just leave the party and go with the Dalefolk even though his beliefs push me in that direction. Role playing this has been a welcome challenge!

Hi, everyone, I'm back. I apologize for going MIA, but the holidays caught up with me.

Yes, I'm thoroughly enjoying it! It's in large-part my fault for some of the dragging aspects of it because I haven't been able to reply, but that will no longer continue as I am back at school and able to participate once a day.

The problem of fate and free will in Tolkien's writing is a complex one! I'm just adding these links here, for further use...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gift_of_Men

http://forchhammer.net/tolkien/Fate_FreeWill.html

I hope to implement elements of it into Favrick's narrative at some point. But he will have his own understanding and cosmology.

Very nice!

I'm glad to see research simply because I like Tolkien. Remember, though, in this game, it is use of -Wises in tests-that-matter which define the binding facts. You can establish facts from Tolkien's writings (likely with lower difficulties) or your own facts as the situation dictates. I will continue to add results from all Wise rolls onto the thread we're using to capture game-lore.

Yes, I remember! That's what I meant by Favrick having "his own understanding" of Fate.

Sorry for my own delays... Last week and weekend were hell.

I will give Artha for the first chapter and start the third chapter shortly. Keep going with your second chapter activities. :)
