The Pounding Fathers (2)

#1 Post by OGRE MAGE »

Blacksmith/Wainwright/Stables

This massive compound looks relatively new compared to the rest of the town. There is a 10' wooden planked wall that surrounds the entire place. Two sets of huge gates lead to the main road, both of them are closed. There is one smaller man door that looks like it leads to an office. It has a sign hanging on it that reads:

The Pounding Fathers
Blacksmithing, Wagon building, and Stables

Ring bell if you require service.

There is a large bell positioned just above the wall with a rope that hangs down next to the door.

Grillock- Rings the bell. I guess we better have look inside. These are rather big men. Lets not try to upset them. He looks at Odilo cautiously.

The bell rings out loudly and is easily heard over the many sounds of work being done coming from inside the walls. You can hear that hammering and sawing sounds are the most prevalent but there are many others as well, including the usual animal noises you would hear coming from a stable.

The door doesn't open so you ring the bell a second time. Finally, the smaller door is unlatched and swings outwards towards you. You are met by a huge, bald man wearing a carpenters apron and still carrying a rather large wooden mallet in one hand.

He stands directly in the center of the doorway, as if he is trying to block your view past him to prevent you from seeing the inside of the massive compound. After looking you over, a bit, the bald man speaks.

Good morning gentlemen. As you can probably hear, we are very busy today. I see you have no mounts so, you clearly don't need our stable services. What is it that I can do for you?

The big man looks up and down the road before he continues.

If you came to complain about the noise again, how about you just piss off!

Timmy

YES! Yes, we do make some noise, but it is the noise of progress. We have a very successful business here, that helps out this town a great deal, but some less successful folk are jealous of our success and like to complain about the noise a lot.

What can I do for the two of you. As I said, I am a very busy man. Do you require the service of the Pounders?

Timmy smiles at Grillock and steps in front of him.

Ya, we got some nice quality wares here. No staffs though, never heard of that.

Step this way gents.

He leads you through the door and into the compound. There is a large area just inside the door where they sell numerous types of arms and armor. There is an attractive female dressed in leather sitting in the middle of the racks. She stands up to greet you.

Well, hello boys! Have a look around and go ahead and ask me any questions you might have, ok?

Timmy winks at the gorgeous brunette and pinches her in the ass. He takes his leave and goes back to work building a large wagon on the other side of the compound.

Odilo "Hmm well what about a staff sword have you ever heard of that? I know such a silly idea but I thought the idea up one time, a sword hidden in a staff where part of the staff is the sheath concealing the blade. Granted no mage would be able to use it nor a priest but it is a fairly genius idea."

The hot young gal looks at Odilo sympathetically.

Staff sword you say huh? Can't say that I've ever heard of such an item. I will make a note of it and ask around for you.

She mockingly draws something on the palm of her hand with her finger.

There, got it. Now, are there any real life items you would like to look at? She says with a perfect smile.

All of the items look to made of fine quality and the things that are priced don't appear to be overly expensive.

As you look around a little more, you can see that there are several more employees around the rest of the place. They are all working hard and there are a lot of different projects being worked on. You don't notice anything nefarious going on anywhere.

Odilo "Yes I don't think it has ever been created but I imagine it would be a fine selling weapon some day." then he looks around for anything staff or dagger like. "Fine quality items I must say."

Grillock - Looks over the finely made weapons. I have been looking to try my hand with a short sword. It is always good to have skills in other weapons. Do you know anyone that could train me? He smiles at the Brunette.

We have a large selection of daggers and shortswords.

She completely shoots down Grillock's advance. No, we just make them here, we're not instructors.

Grillock- My master here wants to head to the old mage tower. We want to see if there are any old treasures buried within. He gives Odilo a sideways look so that the brunette can see him. In thieves cant. He's crazy I think. Just the two of looking alone.

Odilo "I don't know who this master is you speak of. I am only a friend of yours Grillock. But when I meet this master you keep speaking of I'll teach him a thing or two. Now alright miss what will it cost me for one of the finely crafted daggers here?"

Odilo "I'm quite content sleeping in the chair. Though might I remind you I paid for the room." the mage gives a sly wink to his friend. "Don't mind him miss I hear the ladies say he likes short swords to undercompensate."

The confused hottie listens to the extremely awkward conversation with a crinkled up nose.

Ok boys, that will be quite enough of that talk. Don't let my nice smile fool you, I have very little patience for tomfoolery such as this!

Now, do you actually have any interest in making a purchase, or are you just here to play verbal footsie with each other?

She produces a fine dagger and matching scabbard with a price tag of 10 gold.

She then shows you a finely crafted short sword with an ornate scabbard that costs 50 gold.
