I'm cool with digging a little deeper into the characters but, if we are all going to die anyway, we might as well just get to it.

Actually, I like both options.
I will take the Alebelly approach and defer to the others as well. :D

The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to rush through the journey aboard the ship. I'm really not sure how detailed or "involved" I'll realistically be able to make the hours upon hours you'll be spending on board if I did try to go that more elaborate route.

It seems to make sense to role-play bits of it privately with the specific players that are interested in it as opposed to potentially "bogging down" the entire game.

That, upon further reflection, will make the most sense.

I'll try to post another update again tonight to give you all something to actually respond to.

I say push on. I don't know how much fun hours and hours of role-playing being stuck on a ship would be. I'd rather not find out.

I'm fine either way.

Speeding up the voyage sounds fine to me.

I'm okay with speeding it up too, but I do like the nautical speak.

What's funny is, I don't know the first thing about piloting a ship, so everything I've used in updates so far has been because of research I've done online.

Google is my friend. :D

"I'll shift YOUR ballast to the starboard," mumbles the surly pirate deckhand.

Hahahaha!

I'm not even positive if a ship during the time this game is taking place would even use ballast yet? And I never bothered to figure out what the difference is between a mile and a nautical mile is, but, for the purposes of this game, I feel it's working.

"Move the thing...and that other thing!" is perfectly legitimate sea adventure terminology. :)

I totally missed that reference. It's apparently been far too long since I've seen that movie.

That's why you keep me around, man - to point out movie references for you. ;)
