First map of the entrance of the Mines of Gomor; the square immediately outside of the first chamber on the passageway that leads down is a collapsed/triggered pit trap. Ages ago - who knows when? - someone or something triggered this pit trap. There are no spikes at the bottom, but it is 10' deep. There is a narrow ledge along the wall on either side of the pit.

The passageway leads down at a 10 degree angle into the mountain. The direction the path is headed is into the mountain, due East.
Current assumption: party movement is 60' per round (checking for traps occasionally, tunnel direction, slowest party member, etc.)
The party heads down the tunnel, first negotiating the collapsed pit trap. After 60' (1 minute), the party detects no traps or tricks. Nor are there any signs of passage. There is a layer of dust and stone powder along the floor of the tunnel. There are vague, shapeless tracks in the dust, but of no entity or vehicle that is identifiable.
After the pit trap, to either side of the hall is a guard post with an opening leading into the hallway. The guard posts were deserted long ago. There is a dwarven skeleton in the post on the right. The body has been rent in two, and is covered in rusted, ancient iron links. The skull has been crushed, rendering the helmet useless.

Algrim continues onward as cautious as before this time his weapon is ready in his hand.

Mathus F/MU

Cautious, like his companions, Mathus draws his sword as they head into the darkness.

Elias is sorry for taking forever to respond....He'll head over and investigate the dwarven skeleton. Perhaps there are keepsakes that should be returned to his kin....eventually.

As the rest of the companions ready their weapons and file into the hallway beyond the initial chamber, Elias deftly dodges into the guard post/alcove on the right side of the passage. The corpse of the dwarven guard is skeletal - no trace of soft tissue remains. Elias moves his hands all over the armor and rotted clothing - nothing, nary a copper piece! As he snorts in disgust and kicks the ruined skull of the ancient sentinel, he hears a muted clanking.
Looking more closely, he leans down and notes that there is a key on a fine silver chain (10 gp jewelry value for chain). But instinctively Elias knows that this key may be pivotal to part of their quest. He pockets the key for examination later.
The party is marching down the corridor three abreast. After a minute of marching, pausing to observe for secret doors, traps, and peculiarities in the stone shaft (still 10 degrees down, due East into heart of the mountain), they have gone 60 feet into the mines...

Ahead, roughly 30-40 feet, there is a glimmering white luminescence coming from a chamber directly ahead (please review the map). There is no sound - no, change that. There is a faint burbling or dripping - as of water on stone. No other noise can be heard. 30-40 feet ahead - the strange pentangular chamber awaits. Party actions for approaching this room? Thief scout ahead? Invisibility?

ACTION!

Skyzar- She will have the party stop and move into the shadows quietly. She will move where she can get good view of the chamber without actually going right up to the door.

Move Silently 47%
Mov Sil:[1d100] = 74

Hide in shadows 42%
[url=http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... macid=4482]Hid Shad:[1d100] = 3[/url

Well I am not being very quiet. But I am gone in the shadows. Maybe if something is inside the room it will think it is a stone falling from ceiling.

Fiksilma Kimmontytar (gnome C/I)

Fiksilma winces as Skyzar's foot kicks bits of pebble about the floor. She stands guard with her walking stick, waiting to see what the elf finds.

As Skyzar approaches the end of the corridor, she can just make out some strange noises - running or moving water perhaps? She can also just make out some faint flicking illumination.
Skyzar is assumed to be in the lead at this point - just outside of the doorway leading into the chamber. The rest of the party is behind by 30' - same marching order sans Skyzar. They are able to hear Skyzar's soft boots slide across the stone floor, as well as gravel moving under her boot heels.

Skyzar waits for any activity in the chamber - but there is nothing she can see.

Just the sound of moving water - sounds deep, and some vague, faded illumination.

Party actions: keep waiting? Catch up with Skyzar? SKyzar enter the room alone to scout?

Algrim impatiently awaits the return of the scout grumbling as some dwarves do sword in hand. One booted foot tapping against the stone.

With a sour, matronly look, Fiksilma slaps Algrim on the hand and shushes him loudly. 'Shhh!'

Refer to the map to see the shape of the chamber (pentagram)
The scout can see two walls on either side slanting away at an odd angle. The chamber is dark to normal vision, but you can discern that it is roughly 65 feet in diameter. At one point it may have been a greeting chamber(?) or second layer of defense of filtering outside traffic. Directly ahead is a walkway - 10 feet wide. To either side it drops off into darkness. (the inner pentagon outlines a drop into an abyss...) From the dark drop-off, the sound of swirling water can be heard - slow, but deep. Along the walls in either direction is a 10 foot ledge around the edges of the room.

The center of the chamber is dominated by a large statue of a giant, broad-shouldered man or dwarf - vaguely visible in the dark. Over the ages, stalactites have grown from the chiseled ceiling of the dwarf-made chamber. The flickering light that was visible earlier is emanating from a diadem or crown on the head of the statue in the center. A white luminescence is flickering from a stone or gem held in the center of the head piece - it appears magical (certainly not natural). No matter how long the party/scout wait at the edge of the chamber, no activity within the chamber occurs...

Elias volunteers to investigate the statue. He's going to climb it and attempt to procure the gem.
