That must include the private player threads. I see the current count as 9,718, which would still take a banner day to get to 10,000 today.Keehnelf wrote:We're about to hit 10,000 total posts for this game, guys. A big milestone! Thanks for all of your energy and excitement that have made it a huge pleasure to run.
If we hit the landmark today, in honor of mister-kent's birthday, I'll be giving out a birthday present to everyone currently playing. (and no spam, please--just game-related activities)

Re: OOC Chat III
How many players are currently in this game? 30-40? That's seriously insane
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
Re: OOC Chat III
The player count is around 15, but the PC count is upwards of 30, yeah.
And yes, that counts over 200 posts in private threads.

SWEET!!! For a birthday present, can we get a scroll of identification? Us wizards really need that one.Keehnelf wrote:We're about to hit 10,000 total posts for this game, guys. A big milestone! Thanks for all of your energy and excitement that have made it a huge pleasure to run.

Oh, heck yes. The "you don't know what this is and are unlikely to find out in this lifetime" magic items are starting to pile high.GTan_Baq wrote:SWEET!!! For a birthday present, can we get a scroll of identification? Us wizards really need that one.

Re: OOC Chat III
The DM in my FtF game is ruthless when it comes to ID. He'll make us use something for weeks before we really know what it does.
Once, our party had found a dagger that we determined was enchanted by something of necromantic origin. We were all pretty low level and too freaked to try it out. So we went to try and sell it.
Now, one of our house rules is that we don't get XP from looted items that we have then gone and used. (You could sell something you'd used for monetary gain, but no xp) So when we were offered an insane amount of money (for low level PCs) for the unused dagger we knew it was powerful but we also knew we'd reap mad XP if we pawned it.
Keep a crazy powerful piece of gear that we still don't know what it does, or take the payday?
We took the payday. The whole party levelled.

That's a great story. Your DM is a softie for not having the NPC offer you an insanely lowball amount.
...or maybe it was an insanely lowball offer?

Exactly. We'll never know. To this day he won't tell me what the dagger did. Arsehole.Zhym wrote:That's a great story. Your DM is a softie for not having the NPC offer you an insanely lowball amount.

Speaking of which, since we're bound for a round of revelations soon: the dagger that Largo Goodbarrel, halfling now of the Vaul Watch, is carrying around has a Wish just sitting and waiting to be used...

But come to think of it, I don't know if Keehnelf would tell us what Lug turned down so he could have his bow. 'Course, I'm not sure I want to know what he turned down for his bow.

By the time anyone learns of it in-game, it'll have already been used, sorry
Re: OOC Chat III
It was, in fact, a phoenix hatchling that he turned down--so no big surprises there (maybe), since someone did guess that.

Re: OOC Chat III
Phoenix hatchling post was #10,000!
Everyone gets their wish of one item in the possession of one of their characters (or belonging to them but held by someone else at present) identified, or they can ask one specific question about the setting or events that have transpired and I will answer it truthfully as long as it's not hugely game-breaking.
Happy Birthday, Mister Kent!
