Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
Well, since the player is making the roll, yes he/she would be aware of a success or not.
The character would however not know if, not hearing anything, was a result of being unable to hear anything or that simply nothing is there to be heard.

"Hold on , this is where I may be able to help!"
Jenks joins Arn by the door and presses his ear to it:
Hear Noise (10%) [1d100] = 55

Tuireann:
"Our task here is done. Let us get this egg back to Lady Galversharn before she destroys Caer Brennau"
Tuireann turns right through the barrack and then north to the exit of this underground complex.

Right! Sorry, been in OD&D mode lately and got my rules mixed up.
Listen (10%): [1d100] = 98
Arn can't hear much of anything inside his helmet, it seems.

Oh Geez! Who thought up this 'metagaming' silliness, I've never even heard of it until doing this play-by-post gaming!
Just have fun & play along without worrying if your Adventurer would know something or not!!!
I could do every single roll of the dice for the players, so you never know the result & need to worry about the silly meta-gaming !

Dungeon Master:
After several attempts to hear things behind closed doors, the party makes a hasty retreat back out of the Lair !
I take it that is what is going on now, no more hearing & looking behind closed doors, just get the egg out of the lair & maybe let Tewahutes carry it ?!

Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
We should all roll d20 and the one with lowest roll will carry the egg for now. Any hint of low rolls and the egg goes to second lowest roller, and etc.
The logic is that due to uniformity of luck, the one who gets a roll will be more likely to get a higher roll next time, thus increasing the chance of passing the AC for not dropping the egg while carrying it.
Flawless logic.

"I would like to explore the rest of this warren for unguarded treasure but if you all leave then I would not tarry."
Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
Note: if you leave you can always come back
Whom is carrying the Egg at present? You can do as NeoPlasmaVice suggested to determine that !

Arn holds his hands up and shakes his head. With his current streak of luck he's sure to fall headlong onto the thing and crush it.

Cayley
Having washed the blood off the egg as best she can, Cayley dries it and tosses aside the kobold's robe she used. I hope that wasn't magical. She then wraps her blanket around to for padding and warmth. "Well we brought that mule with us to carry the egg. Where is he?"

"Tewahutes is waiting for us outside at the entrance." Tuireann says as he move toward that destination.

The priestess secures her flail and shield and carefully reaches under the egg cradling it into her arms. She lifts with her knees, as her mother always reminded her. "Well if someone could hold the door, let's get moving. Slowly."

Ok so it appears the party heads back out to get to Tewahutes.
They quietly creep back out, taking the same way they came in & reach their hidden campsite & find Tewahutes where they left him.

"I can't believe we left all that virtually unguarded loot in there. We could at least have checked around! Gah are there no professionals left in this world?!" he walks off muttering and shaking his head to check the perimeters.

"We'll come back, we'll come back..." continued Procyon encouragingly. "I just want to hurry to counter any unfortunate delays we might have, that is all. Perhaps the Doctor knows a way to magically seal the entrance somewhat?"

Elusev looks at the group, confusion plain on his face, "Why does it matter? The important piece is that the very large and very angry Dragon gets her egg back before there isn't a place left for us to sell that "loot" Let us be off to complete our mission."
Sorry for the absence all! Life is kicking my butt.

Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.

Teladrin will take a position near the front of the group, keeping an eye out for signs of an ambush or any fresh tracks.
Re: Chapter 5: Down into the Darkness
Dungeon Master:
Both Mugg Grimhammer & Idhrenwen Lasseth know the way to the bronze dragon Galversharn's Lair.
It will take approximately 78 miles from where the Kobold Lair is, to Galversharn's Lair as noted on the Map.
Since it is over mountainous terrain, I will guess a minimum of 3 or 4 days to reach the Lair (Averaging 15 or 20 miles per day).
I do believe that is within the time frame the party has ! I need to go back & look see what day this is!
