Rhodri's brows knit in concern at hearing the noise cut off. "I don't like the sound of that...or rather, the lack thereof. We may have a spellcaster at our back." Motioning to the others, he starts down the right-hand hallway, toward where the noises were coming from.
I know this could go south, being caught between 2 groups of enemies, but I think we need to face one of them and finish them off...if we're going to be caught between 2 forces, I'd like to put arrows into the one that has spells first.
Kennit, I know you were hiding, but I'd recommend coming with us; if they didn't see you and you got behind them, that could be good, but 1 in 3 odds doesn't inspire me.

Round Two:
The party heads off down the darkened tunnel. The torchlight doesn't stretch far, and they find that at its edge, perhaps ten feet down the hall, the passage opens up into a chamber. The left wall continues straight ahead but there is an impression of space beyond on the right.
Kennit takes a moment to fish a new torch out of his pack and get it lit, revealing a room approximately ten feet deep and fifteen feet across. The passage continues out the far side, and another narrower hall opens to the right, back in the direction toward the entrance. Lying in the opening to that hall is the burned-up body of a goblin, still freshly smoking. While they can hear sounds from behind, and their own movement, everything that might have been beyond continues to be eerily quiet.
There is a tramp of booted feet coming from behind that abruptly stops. It seems that the goblins are pursuing, but stopping short of a direct assault into the passageway.
Actions and Initiative!

Numen begins to get more cautious in his step. "Onward," he whispers to the others, urging them on towards the silent hall while maintaining his watch on the group's back, shortbow at the ready.
Numen will fire if any gob shows its face...

Rhodri's face momentarily flashes with a savage grin when he sees the dead goblin, but doesn't slow his step. Seeing Numen covering their retreat, he leads the way onward, wary of foes and magic.
Rhodri will have his own bow ready; he will likewise loose an arrow if he spies a goblin, especially one in robes or bearing any kind of holy symbol or blunt weapon.
If he suddenly stops being able to hear, he will pause to reassess the situation.

Attack with bow: [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13, damage: [1d6] = 4 (add another +1 if it's short range)

As they enter this part of the hall, all sound of their footfalls cease, and even the crackling of Kennit's torch is immediately silenced.
Numen, keeping an eye to the rear, spots a goblin peeking his head around the corner, bow in hand and ready to shoot. The elf is faster, and his arrow goes through the goblin's eye, leaving him slumping in eerie silence to the floor. It seems to have bought the party some time.
Ahead of the group, another goblin lies mutilated against the wall at the junction of the halls. He is covered in slashes and blood, and his head is mostly torn loose from his body. A smear of blood stains the wall behind him.
To the left, the passage seems to continue with metal-barred cells alternating along either side. The nearest pair of cell doors stand open, but otherwise the hall seems empty within the range of the torchlight.

I think we keep moving. I don't like the silence, but it's not likely to run out soon. We might have to make it through this part without sleep spells.

The party ducks to either side of the hallway in order to stay out of incoming missiles from the goblins hiding back around the corner. Rhodri gives a quick glance through the doorway to the right. He sees a room approximately fifteen feet deep and ten feet wide with no other visible exits. Along the left-hand wall are three primitive beds of straw and sackcloth, with small poorly-organized piles of goods collected nearby, perhaps the residents' personal effects. A series of metal hooks on the far wall hold a collection of thick leather collars, a pair of cruel multi-headed barbed whips, and a set of thick leather-and-metal gauntlets.
Apart from that, the room appears unoccupied.
A pair of arrows or bolts strike the wall in front of the intersection soundlessly, shattering and falling to the floor.

With two projectiles nearly missing the group, Kennit will bolt towards the left side of the T-intersection.

Rhodri will also dodge quickly across the intersection, and continue down the corridor. With hand motions, he indicates that Kennit should watch down the hall in the direction they are proceeding, while he and Numen keep their attention mainly to the rear, bows aimed back down the way they came.
