Lub back in the study opens the other desk drawers which were opened once before no trap triggers and again it is ages parchment like the other side along with the next drawer down from the top having the pickled various insects, rodents lizards and body parts.

Dune pulls the door pull ring of the third door and the statue comes to life. Moving toward the very close party in the hall way it swings it's stone sword.

Actions!

OOC: Is the statue also made of stone?
Does it radiate evil now? Thanks!

Cleared up via pm but for everyone's peace of mind this statue is a golem, golems are on neither evil or good alignment they according to the MM are neutral. A stone golem is 9½ feet tall, and weighs around 2000 pounds. Its body is of roughly chiseled stone, frequently stylized to suit its creator.

Dune smiles and raises his right hand at the golem, saying Fulgur!

Dune casts lightning bolt.

Eirik the Just:

The humble paladin kept backing away from Dune and the living statue. The mighty wizard seemed to know what he was doing.

OOC: GW, Did Dune open the door? Did the ring come off? Thanks.

Dune did not open the door upon touching the pull ring the golem activated to which Dune decided to stop what he was doing and blast lightning at the golem. There are still some folks in the study room as well as a bored Thifli further back in the hallway. most everyone else is now a lot closer to the golem area. Dune has made his action and the paladin appears to be going into a defensive stance.

Eirik the Just:

The innocent young paladin thinks Dune has a master plan, after the wizard intentionally activated a trap. Eirik will back up and hold his action to let Dune complete his plan. Also, to avoid being electrocuted!

Starts nocking his bow, but then feels that it would be useless against a stone golem, & thus having no blunt weapon falls back.

According to the MM only a magical item will effect this of at least +2 but I fail to recall that I gave anyone a + anything weapon so if anyone has a magical weapon it will hurt it. All non-magical will not effect it. Also some spells wont harm it.

So far only actions we have are Eirik parrying or defensive. Dune lightning bolt, Theodore unsure. Waiting for Thifli, Alanis, Gandrel, Lubidius, Neev & or Theodore to decide if he is holding back or changing tactics.

Is there room for Thifli to hurl his axe?

Neev

Neev commands the lion's head to attack and swings his shield at the golem.

Shield Bite: To Hit: [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4 Damage [2d6] = 6

For dis I wasted one of it's uses?!

Thifli, Dwarf Fighter

Image

Thifli attempts to strike the golem:

Returner Axe: [1d20 +3] = 1+3 = 4 to hit [1d6 +3] = 4+3 = 7 dmg

Lubidius will carefully pack away the aged parchments from the desk and ignore the other bits for now. Hearing the sounds of battle coming from outside the room; he will draw his enchanted sword and move carefully to the edge of the opening and peek out to see the situation....

Alanis steps back, away from any melee range, and points his wand at the creation, spouting no doubt magical words as he activates the weapon! "Vescere bracis meis!!"

Alanis Rod of Wonder: [1d100] = 41
37-46 Lightning bolt (70 ft. long, 5 ft. wide), 6d6 damage (Reflex DC 15 half).

Rod Lightning Bolt: [6d6] = 18!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing the sane Mage depart, Gandrel pockets the amulet and ring. He will raise them with the others once the commotion in the corridor subsides. He moves to follow Lubidius to the door.

Surprise Round:
Stone Golem AC 5 STR 22 per MM Thac0 7
has the upper hand and strikes Dune before the spell gets off. Stone Golem Attacking Dune [1d20 +4] = 11+4 = 15 to hit [3d8 +10] = 13+10 = 23 dmg hits the mage for a mighty 23 dmg. Disrupting his spell. unless that was meant for the next round.

Alanis hits the golem for 18 dmg though the golem does not act like a being that has just been struck for 18 damage.
Nobody else scored a hit on the golem.
to try and aid the players....
Combat: Greater golems are mindless in combat, only following the simple tactics of their masters. They are completely emotionless and cannot be swayed in any way from their instructions. They will not pick up and use weapons in combat, even if ordered to, always preferring their fists. Stone golems have a strength of 22, for purposes of breaking or throwing things.
The stone golem is immune to any weapon, except those of +2 or better enchantment. A rock to mud spell slows a golem for 2-12 (2d6) rounds. Its reverse, mud to rock, acts to heal the golem, restoring all lost hit points. A flesh to stone spell does not actually change the golem’s structure, but does make it vulnerable to any normal attack for the following round. This does not include spells, except those that will cause direct damage. All other spells are ignored. Once every other round, the stone golem can cast a slow spell upon any opponent with 10 feet of it.
Combat over.

The threat to what the golem protects being dealt with the golem returns back to the inanimate state back on it's statue platform.

Sweet mother of mercy. Is Dune still standing?
Is it possible to put the pull ring back the way it was, to try to make the golem stop attacking?
