Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Ox- What the hell was that the flame lit the gas!! Maybe we should move if possible.
Did the hall dead end up ahead? Or can we move forward.

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
<FTOOM>!
by keeping the lowest buttons depressed, enough gas kept shooting forth from the right plaque until it eventually reached enough volume to fill the entrance area and come in contact with the flame from the opposite plaque, and therefore ignite.
Korin took 2.5* hits of burn damage, Ox took 1 hit.
The explosion suffocated the flame from the left plaque, both Ox & Korin reeled backwards and thus let go of buttons.
*to add to the 0.5 hp dmg received earlier
Jacob and Norbold although startled by the explosion managed to catch a glimpse further down the passage inwards, lit up for an instant by the flash of the explosion: there seemed to be a dip or slope 30 ft in, and the wood beam reinforcements seemed to continue at intervals along the ceiling.
(As Ox's follow-up move was posted before knowing these results of the flame/gas buttons, it could be edited if you want)

Ox- Maybe there is a key we haven't found yet. We should venture farther in the cave to see if we find anything.

Says,
"Ok, enough of this, these button panels could be just a decoy. In the explosive flash i could tell the passage started to slope further in."

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Jacob, "And this, Norbold, is why we don't let them have anything nice." He shakes his head before adding to the group, "Norbolds right, flame lit up enough for us to know it slopes further in. Let's get this over with, are will you two be toying with those holes some more?" He raises one eyebrow in a suggestive manner with a grin.

Ox- I don't think we have figured out the proper combination yet. Lets try pushing in the hole on both right eyes, He looks at the group to see if they are in agreement

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Jacob simply gives Ox a blank emotionless stare, "Alright then, I know better then to get between Ox and his curiosities. I'll be over here, out of the way... Once you're satisfied me and Korin can scout ahead and check for actual traps, ya know... the hidden kind."

Pushing in both right eyes at the same time <click> causes nothing to happen.

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Jacob looks up at the ceiling of the tunnel, "I can check them once he stops pressing buttons. I don't want to be looking at some hole for a fireball to slam into my face...."

Jacob gives Ox a grin and bows low to him, "I thank you for your generosity." He then goes about and checks for traps on the ceiling.
While he does so he also calls out, "I'm feeling some temperature shifts, unless one of you farted, Korin, then I'm guessing we aren't alone in here."

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Jacob stands on toes and just about manages to prod the ceiling with his short sword.
At 20' in, he discovers that the overhead wood beams are...part of a trap!
Outside, a wind blows through the barren land, out towards southwest. The deserted feeling out there is enhanced by the shadows caused by the lowering sun.

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Jacob continues to search the area around those beams, attempting to see what kind of trap it is and how to either disarm or avoid it.

Re: Chapter 03: into the Ridge
Despite his laid back manner, Jacob is a mean trap deactivator. He quickly finds a hidden spring between two beams, flicks it with the tip of his sword, and with a <krrr-ka-click> sound everyone notices that the whole row of wood beams, from above your heads to as far in as you can see, recede upwards 2-3 inches, and settle in a kind of locked position.
Ox, standing near one plaque also notices that at the same time, both 'eye buttons' sink in to lock in a depressed position.
