Sam Archer, private eye:
Grognardsw wrote:"Only one visitor, a lady she was a real darkie, dressed up like you know funny like some gypsy or something. Didn't catch her name."
Archer held out more greenbacks. "Didn't catch her name, huh?"
He waited for his memory to jog.
[reply?]
"Well, what'd she say?"
Grognardsw wrote:"Don't know about co-signer, that'd be the landlord. Ford Real Estate Holdings owns these three buildings."
"Got an address? Are they near here?" said Archer.
Has Archer heard of Ford Real Estate Holdings? Thanks.

"Really, I don't remember the name, it sounded French," says the superintendent, not taking Archer's additional greenbacks.

"She was asking about his place, if she could get in, saying she was a relative. I told her no, the place was empty by then anyway."

The super gives Archer the Providence address of Ford Real Estate Holdings. "I think they are headquartered in New York, but have an office here."
Please make a Know. roll on whether Archer has heard of Ford Real Estate Holdings. Thanks.

Sam Archer, private eye:
Archer closed his wallet, said thanks, and left.

He stopped by the vomiting wino, and handed him his pocket handkerchief. "Here you go brother," Archer said. "Say, where's Carcosa?"
After the wino, Archer turned his next steps over in his mind:

Now: Contact Watson at the BOI and brief him on his last 24 hours, so he can brief the consultants going to New York tomorrow...
Archer tells him everything from this post forward to the present: viewtopic.php?p=210622#p210622
...as well as the leads Archer will follow up next:
  • Tonight: Talk to Darren McCoy.

Tomorrow Morning: Track down the Ford Real Estate Holdings angle. Maybe visit their offices in Providence.

Tomorrow Afternoon: Read Horror at Red Hook and interview Lovecraft at Hay library.

The wino mumbles, "I ain't got no car," or something to that effect and Archer realizes he'll be no help.

Back at the BOI office, the private eye fills in Agent Watson on his recent investigations. "Thanks, I'll share this with the consulting investigators."

Archer is just about to leave when he sees Marius Albertoni (an older Italian man), Isaiah Bartlett (a very old though fit man) and Harold Mather (a professorial figure) walk into the office. Agent Watson introduces them as part of the consulting investigative team, along with Reginald Wilkins who is a book dealer and currently at his Charters Book Shop.

"Gentlemen, this is Private Detective Sam Archer of New York," says Agent Watson. "His own investigations into stolen museum artifacts is related to our own."

This conversation is continued in Book Two: The Psychogeography of Terror.

Ok.
Also, I just remembered, Ford is one of the authors of a letter to Carcosa.

Did the letter from Ford mention any properties in Providence or nearby?

The two letters from James Ford, president, The Explorers Club, New York, references investment of time and money in unspecified endeavors. Purchases of real estate in New York, New Orleans and Phoenix. Majority interest holdings in entertainment businesses.

Thanks. Is the New York address in Red Hook?

Does Archer know if Ford lives in NY City, where the company is HQed?
Thanks.

From your previous knowledge roll, Archer has heard of James Ford (no relation to Henry) as an industrial with a multitude of business concerns. He does live in NYC, though probably has other homes. He assumes his company, or holding company, is based in NYC.

The New York address of property recently purchased by Ford is in lower Manhattan, a dock property. The New Orleans address is an entertainment establishment in the French Quarter. The Phoenix address is a commercial property.

Archer doesn't know the specific address where Ford lives, or the company, but he knows that the latter information can be readily found in business directories.

Thanks, Grog.

All this gets shared with the other investigators in the Psychogeography of Terror thread.
