Storyverse 69 Subplots: Tania's Tale

A troubled Tania slips into the little death. The elf has had a hard life and dislikes the opposite sex. Ironic it is a barbarian man's soul that now co-habitats her mortal coil.

Tania's deep sleep is a placid lake. A ripple forms in the center, flowing outward to the edges of consciousness. A hand breaks the surface, two hands, the head. The barbarian cleaves theough the surface. Tania's dreamscape lake drains and the reaver begins to rifle through her mind.

knowing this reaver is rummaging thru her mind she get's pissed off, certain areas even she has blocked off from herself let alone a male barbarian. She's attacks with shrink spell then her Sword of Repentor after she tries a spell not knowing if it would work next round

The barbarian shoves Tania's id aside, attemting to psycho-pummel her inner spirit. Tania dissipates and the mind-thrust swipes mere aether. But her effort subsumes the mental energy gathering to cast what may be a Shrink spell.

The two souls in one body coalesce violently trying to gain the upper position.

- Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 3 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 6 Barbarian wins.
- Barbarian spirit psycho-punch [1d20] = 4, soul damage [1d4] = 2 Miss
- Tania is not sure how and if spells may work in this soul struggle. It seems difficult to pull off in the struggle. Average your Int. and Wis. and roll 5d6 to get under to successfully cast, if you are not hit and therefore interupted. Next round it'll be 4d6, then 3d6, to reflect your increasing acclimation to this strange combat.

so what did that dice roll mean? I'm guessing i missed?

That ability check fail means the Shrink spell didn't cast successfully. This dream-subconscious struggle is new to Tania and the "combat" feels strange. You are fighting how you would fight in normal physical circumstances, but feel this is not quite spot on. With each spell cast, roll the decreasing ability check to successfully cast in this dream environment.

Dream Battle - Round Two

In a surreal dreamscape Tania swings her magic blade Repentor at the looming barbarian. Steel slices skin. Instead of blood flowing a red mist escapes from the wound (5 HP.)

The man lunges for a stranglehold on the elf and manages a weak grip (3 HP damage.) Tania isn't able to swing her blade again. She shifts in an attempt to break his grip. She struggles and slides out.

Dream Battle - Round Three

The barbarian rages as Tania slips from his grasp. The elf thrust her sword and gashes his leg. More red mist escapes from the wound (3 HP.)

The barbarian pulls back, growls, puts his hands together like he is holding a sword. Suddenly a fearsome two-handed sword materializes. He looks a little surprised himself, laughs, and cleaves at Tania! The elf lithely dodges the massive blade.

Actions for Round 4!

- Strangle hold on Tania - grapple rules [1d100] = 54 result [1d100] = 60 hit, minor hold, 3 HP damage

- Tania break hold [1d100] = 52 escape

- Round Three initiative:
Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 6 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 1

- Tania continues with sword per post (mistakenly called a war hammer), which hit for 3 per your roll

- Barbarian sword on Tania [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7, damage [1d10+3] = 7+3 = 10 miss

not sure this is feasible (swing sword with one and pull out Medusa head from sack with other if Repentor is not a 2handed sword) otherwise sword attack again.

Dream Battle - Round Four



In the swirling dreamscape barbarian and elf clash with steel. Tania's long sword Repentor hacks into his right flank. Red mist sprays. She pulls back in time to parry his great sword.

The barbarian growls in pain. Tania, though she knows the medusa head has long since rotted, dreams she takes its fresh form out of her sack and exposes it to the barbarian.

The snakes writhe weakly. The barbarian momentarily glances at it before yelling a war cry to his god and attacking again. He seems weakened from his wounds.

Actions for Round 5!

- Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 3 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 3 Initiative tied. Simultaneous actions.
- Barbarian sword [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8. damage [1d10+3] = 1+3 = 4 Miss
- In your Tania rolls under Easia, please include "Tania attack" in the marcro to set it apart from Easia and avoid confusion. Thanks.

Dream Battle - Round 5


Tania's elven speed gets the edge on the barbarian. She slides Repentor down the great sword's blade then around the hilt to slice his arm. Red mist expels from the wound. The barbarian grimaces, steps back and ripostes with startling speed. The great sword gashes Tania down her left side (11 HP damage.)

- Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 4 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 2 tania wins
- Barbarian [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15, damage [1d10+3] = 8+3 = 11 hit for 11

thinks and focuses as hard as she can about her friends (Big Blue, Marcanus and Barm) thinking of them appearing and fighting alongside her against this barbarian.
Tania swings Repentor: [1d20] = 15
I believe plus 2 against evil / 2 to hit?

Dream Battle - Round Six

The second soul rages within Tania's body, struggling to subsume her consciousness. He cleaves at her again with his great sword. The lithe elf weaves and parries with her own longsword. The reaver rages, clenches his fist, glances at the wounds Tania has given him. Then a suit of chainmail materializes on his body. Is it his mind bending the dreamscape to his will?

Tania hews again at the barbarian, slashing through his new chainmail. She focuses on summoning forth her comrades to help in the battle. Nothing happens as she girds for the barbarian's next attack.

Tania invokes sorcerous somnulence upon the barbarian, but the reaver seems uneffected as he cleaves at the elf with his great sword. Tania barely avoids the massive blade, her dextrous form dashing left.


Actions for Round 8!

Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 4 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 3 Tania wins.
Sleep spell didn't work, perhaps because his Hit Dice is higher than 4, or the nature of the dream realm.
Barbarian sword [1d20+2] = 3+2 = 5, damage [1d10+3] = 9+3 = 12 miss

backs up and blows bubbles at him focusing on a breeze at my back towards him in my mind.

Dream Battle - Round 8

Tania rolls to the left and grabs a bottle at her belt. Strange it's usually in her backpack. There is no time to ponder as the barbarian chases after her. Tania opens the stopper, to which is attached a round circle trapping the liquid within. She aims and blows through the circle. A bubble forms, expands and floats towards the oncoming barbarian. He swipes at the bubble, missing but generating an air current that blows the bubble onto Tania! (Fumble.) It explodes in her chest (3 HP damage.)

The pain distracts Tania as the barbarian hews at her with his great sword, gashing her right shoulder and arm! (12 HP.)

Actions for Round 9!

- Initiative: The Runner [1d6] = 4 vs. Enemy [1d6] = 2 Tania wins
- Tania bubble [1d20] = 1, [1d6] = 3 Fumble Feel free to do attack rolls with your stated action.
- Barbarian attack [1d20+2] = 12+2 = 14, damage [1d10+3] = 9+3 = 12 Hit for 12

uses her ring of illusion to show her friends attacking him from behind. illusion is of them charging and yelling from behind the barbarian.
if he turns she will backstab with sword of Repentor
