Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Mr. Choe:
Choe will not fire again -- not at -4 with party members in his way.
Choe allows Wex to deal with the front -- his attention turns to the rear of their position -- always paranoid.

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Dungeon Master:
Ok, let's get the party up to where Wexley & Mr. Choe are then.
Running they get there in 5.5 segments.
This of course gives time for the 2 Orcs to move/take action.
Remember it is dark now & the Moon is behind clouds.
Wexley can see to approximately halfway into the group of trees.
In that 5.5 segments the Orcs can move 49.5 ft.
Wexley would lose track of them in 4 segments for going beyond his infravision range.
Within Wexley's Infravision range i will do some random die roll to determine if the 2 Orcs stay hidden or not, as they move.
It looks that Wexley & Mr. Choe could either wait for the group to arrive or make some sort of move to the Orcs.
This again is dependent on if Wexley can spot the Orcs. I can roll for each 4 segments they are in infravision range.
See what i am saying, if at least Wexley moves to try & keep the Orcs in sight, you may not lose them.
The party can make it to the boulders thanks to the light from the pyre.

Wexley:
Seeing the remaining Orc moving away, Wexley will take a moment to fish out the vial of ground chili powder and toss it at the trees near the Orcs after checking the direction of the wind quickly.
Vial toss [1d20] = 15
If I can't see them, I might be able to deter them seeing us and allow us to possibly hear them from being irritated by the powders.
Once tossed, Wexley will return to looking for the Orcs and covering the region with his bow with Mr. Choe should anything else appear.
Bow shot if needed. Bow shot [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18, damage [1d6] = 1

Dungeon Master:
Hmmm, ok, looking at the map, there would be some trees already in front of the Orcs location.
I need to see how far this cloud of chili powder would spread, 10 ft radius i guess, also you would be trying to throw this 35 feet when it hits a tree.
So this may get into the orcs eyes & thus they would do a paralization saving throw.

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Orc Pyre Combat - Round 1 : Segment 4:
Wexley:
Comes up with an idea to throw a gourd of chili powder & reaches for that instead of another arrow & tosses it.
The gourd shatters: [1d20] = 12, high up against a tree's trunk near where Wexley last saw an Orc.
Chili powder To Hit Roll: [1d20] = 8
Orcs Saving throw against the chili powder:
Orc #1: [1d20] = 15 is temporarily blinded by the chili powder
Orc #5: [1d20] = 10 manages to avoid the chili powder getting in his eyes.
Mr. Choe:
Choe allows Wex to deal with the front -- his attention turns to the rear of their position -- always paranoid.
Choe sees the rest of the party now runnning towards them with Kormak in the lead, all will arrive now in 4.5 segments.
OK, Looks here that Wexley & Mr. Choe can react to the incapacitated Orc since Wexley can see Orc #1 moving from cover for trying to rub his eyes with one hand.
Up Next Round 1: Segment 5 Party Actions (Mainly for Wexley & or Mr. Choe here as rest is running up towards them).

Wexley:
Bow shot [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14, damage [1d6] = 6
If a second chance comes up or he gets lucky enough to spot the other, he will take a second shot.
Bow shot [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, damage [1d6] = 3
Wexley will take aim again and shoot the Orc who is coming from concealment.PyroArrow wrote:[OK, Looks here that Wexley & Mr. Choe can react to the incapacitated Orc since Wexley can see Orc #1 moving from cover for trying to rub his eyes with one hand.

Ok, that first arrow shot will drop Orc #1.
Orc #5 disappears deeper into the trees.
Of course, Wexley & Mr. Choe, could risk some sort of pursuit, which would be slowed a bit by the knee deep Goblinwater Creek.

Cause some Orcs REALLY need to die
If he notices the Orc withdrawing, he would go after him and attempt the shot to ensure he doesn't go for reinforcements.PyroArrow wrote:

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Dungeon Master:
Round 1 : Segment 5:
Wexley's 1st Arrow is a Hit on the incapacitated Orc! : Bow shot [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14, damage [1d6] = 6
That was Round 1 : Segment 5.
3.5 segment until party reaches where Mr. Choe is.
Round 1 : Segment 6:
Wexley sees the Orc drop & decides to pursue the other Orc whom he saw momentarily after the chili powder filled gourd hit.
Wexley's movement is slowed by half (60ft/round), running through the Goblinwater Creek, while nocking an arrow, for 1 segment.
A Dexterity check for Wexley indicates he stays on his feet through the Creek: [1d20] = 15
The Orc notices this & Wexley can see that the Orc is dodging from one tree to the next.
2.5 Segments until Party reaches Mr. Choe by the boulders.
Round 1 : Segment 7:
When Wexley reaches the north bank, he fires an arrow in the direction he last saw the Orc, which he could not see when fired (a random die roll) so say the To Hit is at -2.
It's a Hit! Bow shot [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, [-2 to hit] = 19 damage [1d6] = 3[/b] & the Orc #5 Falls to the ground!
1.5 Segments until Party gets to the boulders with Mr. Choe.
End of Combat!
The Party will now get to the boulders with Mr. Choe.
What will Wexley do now? The Party?

Maya:
Maya regroups with everyone, "Looks like that is the last of the group. It's late, we should camp for the rest of the night. Borum, we camping in the valley still?"

Lutha Cee & Wolfram:

Lutha: "Camphor ? You got camphor ? A bit smelly, but great for keeping moths away from camp!"It's late, we should camp for the rest of the night.

Idonea & Ewat:
Idonea says "That one that got away—what do you think the chances are that he'll be back with reinforcements?"
Ewat inspects the fire and the area where the orcs had been standing.

Wexley:
Wexley retrieves what arrows he can that are in good condition, does a quick cursory exam of each of the Orcs and then returns to the creek/boulder area and begins to provide coverage once again, looking out into the night for movement
"We did not let any survive the encounter. Unless we were heard or another was in hiding and unseen, there should be no reinforcements anytime soon."Pulpatoon wrote:Idonea says "That one that got away—what do you think the chances are that he'll be back with reinforcements?"

Borum, Kormak & Mort:
Borum walks over to Wexley if he is with the rest of the party. "Great job Wexley." and he gives Wexley a hearty slap on the back.
Mort just continues to survey the area on look out as best as his human eyes can manage.
Kormak is with Mort and directs Mort if he sees anything with his infravision.
