You can use 2nd edition books. I allow the complete guide books, & Player Option books.
Allowed Races: Gnomes (Subraces allowed), Dwarves (Subraces allowed), Halflings (Subraces allowed), Elves & Drow (Subraces allowed), Humans (subraces allowed), Half-Orc (Subraces allowed), Half-Elf (Subraces allowed).
Allowed Classes: Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Mage, Illusionist, Cleric, Druid, Thief, Specialist Mages, Monk, Alchemist.
Not Allowed Races: Half-Giant, Half-Ogre, Half-Dragon, Tiefling.
Not Allowed Classes: Psionic & Assassin.
There very well might be a significantly longer list of classes and races I'm not remembering off the top of my head. Just run it by me in a PM and I will say yes or no.
Alignments Allowed: CG, NG, LG, TN, NG, NE, CG, CN
Not Allowed Alignments: LE & CE
I also have no issues with spells from Unearthed Arcana provided I go 1st Edition. I would prefer to leave out classes and races that are found in the GreyHawk, DragonLance books namely sticking to the more core type classes and races. No oriental class or race except Monks are allowed.
Death: Characters are knocked out at 0 HP, they bleed out 1 hp per combat round until someone heals or binds the wound. Character death results at -10 HP. Once dead a character can be revived or resurrected but it is very costly at the local church, unless a character is able to reach the level to cast the spells.
Rest HP Recovery: I know in the 2e book you get 1 hp while resting 3 hp for complete bed rest. While camped for the night or resting in an Inn for an evening not on watch I will give PC's back 6 hp. If you are on guard/watch then you will get the 3 hp the book states. While travelling peacefully with no attacks you gain back 1 hp in 8 hours of travel.
Combat
Initiative: I do a group init. I'll roll for the PC's and the monsters on init. Each round gets a new init.
To Hit Crits: Natural 19 or 20 is Critical and does double damage. You just double the damage already rolled not roll twice.
Mechanics will be that I'll just tally up all the combat damage in a round summary post.
