Part 2b: The Northern Contingent: Something in the Water

As Abel patches Marcus up he looks at the dead bear, "Do you think the corruption that we have seen so far has caused this? Is there any way to tell?"

Smokey has a berry left. He gives it to able.

Well done man. It is a good sword, eh?

Abel will also see what he can do for the other two.
Smokey [1d20] = 16 if Wisdom should be alright.

Bürd [1d20] = 19 fail

Marcus stabs the sword into the ground, "It is a good sword, I am glad we finished that fight sooner than later, the heat was beginning to bother me." He takes back his spear, "We should move quickly to the grove... Did anyone get hurt?"

[Pulpatoon]

Blood and fat spit and hiss on the sword's blade as it cools.

Abel makes pads of herbs wrapped in moss to press against the party's wounds. Marcus and Smokey recover 1 hp now, and the second if you keep it place for an hour. Bürd's pad just didn't have the mojo.

Before moving on Bürd takes a good look at the bear, searching specifically for signs similar to those on the priest's corpse...

Abel eats the remaining goodberry that was given to him. He will wait a while before trying to help Bürd again with his skills. "Sorry Bürd that should have worked but I think I messed up the doses of herbs."

Before moving on Bürd takes a good look at the bear, searching specifically for signs similar to those on the priest's corpse...

The bear is cut in many places, but it is not the patterned incisions on the wandering priest. These look like slashing attacks by something large. They are foul with gangrene.

Bürd feels a his mystical shield falter and snap out of existence, its time having run out.

It will be dark soon.

Abel "We should either get to the grove, or town. Otherwise I think we shall have to make a camp of sorts here."

[MonkeyWrench]

Marcus, "Let us continue onwards to the grove, that hunter has me very worried about the state of it. We should not delay any longer than absolutely necessary..."

Bürd turns from the stinking bear, "Summat bit it, an' gave it th'taint. Y'reckon we'll be seein' whatever it were?" He looks around the woods with a squint, then shrugs, "Aye, let's away. Nought here but corruption."

As he walks, Bürd scratches his head and looks around at everyone, "so what're we knowin' friends?"

He counts off on his fingers, "Firstly, summat carved yer priest friend up, and made outta 'im a spirit attractor. And tied 'n' sewed 'im up." He spits, "An' that foul hunger were on 'im. An' I'm not seein' the sense in it, but the flood started where he were… that priest's a right mystery."

"Second, there's summat out here bitin' right dangerous beasts, and given' 'em the hunger, like what the priest had on 'im."

Bürd pulls on his beard and grimaces, "that's all of it, or you fellas knowin' aught else?"

Abel furrows his brow "What?" I need a dwarf translator.

lol, he is nothing compared to my Varrick. basically the priest was made into some kind of beacon and thats where the flood probably started from, and now there's something in these woods that is biting creatures and possibly giving them this same kind of disease or corruption.

Marcus, "You are forgetting the Grove being corrupted, which may be the cause or symptom to the animals in this forest, let us make haste until we need to camp." Marcus then heads in the direction of the grove.

Smokey, shut up, man!

Bürd nods at Marcus, "Aye, the grove, but we're not knowin' much there, as we hain't rightly seen it. But I'm hopin' it sheds light on the mysteries..."

Pulp: with time passing & distractions etc. is it looking like we'll need to camp out again, or is it still possible we'd make it back to town tonight?

Abel "Sorry sometimes I have a hard time understanding you my dwarven friend. Yes camp is best I think. Let us hope it is a calm evening."

Pulp: with time passing & distractions etc. is it looking like we'll need to camp out again, or is it still possible we'd make it back to town tonight?

It would be several hours hard walking in a dark forest, but you do have a Young Woodsman with you. You think you could be home past midnight.

Well, as agreed, onward to the owlbears grove first, and we'll see from there.
