Mr. Choe
Helps detect traps:
[1d100] = 11 BAM!
And says:
"I think I saw Goblin tracks up there -- kinda small."

Dungeon Master:
Mort does not find any secret doors on the right wall.
Mr. Choe were exactly were you looking for traps?
Also, based on what i saw about torches & lanterns for the 5th edition starter, i will extend the light to 30ft, however after 15 ft with torchlight, it's dimmer & you only make out outlines.

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
Wexley takes his position with dagger in one hand and his other hand free. He slowly examines the entrance and proceeds with caution, knowing that the previous party was surprised on their last visit
1st 10 ft Floor [1d100] = 9, walls [1d100] = 59, ceiling [1d100] = 16, secret doors [1d6] = 6
2nd 10ft Floor [1d100] = 55, walls [1d100] = 38, ceiling [1d100] = 24, secret doors [1d6] = 1
3rd 10ft Floor [1d100] = 88, walls [1d100] = 17, ceiling [1d100] = 17, secret doors [1d6] = 1
Since we know there is likely traps here...any bonus to our rolls? Also, could you describe anything beyond the ordinary we might see. Old armor, rags, anything beyond rock and moss...levers hide in them. And as I said, I will send Wexley to the side...in this case it looks to the left to allow Maya to move forward and engage. He would step back, pull out his sand for color spray and make ready to cast it should he get the chance, otherwise, he is looking for levers, trapfalls, nets and the like. Let me know when you need another 30 ft of rolls. FYI Find/Remove Traps is 20% for Wexley, but hoping for a bonus from knowing it was previously trapped and heightened awareness

Mort catches up with Wexley doing the next 10' increments
2nd 10' Trap Check Floor[1d100] = 20 Trap Check Wall[1d100] = 93 Trap Check Ceiling[1d100] = 43 Secret passages[1d6] = 4

Dungeon Master:
Ok, we need some sort of standard format when searching:
For each 10 Feet Searched:
Floor: your roll Ceiling: your roll right wall: your roll left wall: your roll north wall: your roll south wall: your roll
I will count all the previous rolls.
Wexley also does not find traps in the first 10 ft of floor space nor on the walls.
Wexley does find that the ceiling gives, guessing that it is perhaps the camouflaged tarred netting.
Wexley finds no secret doors in the first 10 ft of cave.
Both Mort & Wexley note fresh blood stains on the floor of the cave.
I will wait for all players to state their Actions for the first 10 ft of the cave before moving on to the results rolled in previous posts for the next sections of caves.
If you are taking no actions with your characters please state so, so i know.
So Far, Mort & Wexley mentioned & rolled all they can do.
Mr. Choe needs to mention where exactly he looked for traps with his roll posted above.

Dungeon Master:
Mr. Choe & Wexley find the Tarred Net trap itself but neither found the trigger!
Note: when checking for things on reachable ceilings i will assume the character was hoisted by another character(s). You can state which ones are giving the boost or if you are using objects in the room to reach the ceiling.
This is what the players can see in the bright torchlight:

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
Maya does her best to keep the group in formation, following loosely behind the three trap finders so that they are not caught in a trap and to give them sufficient room to search.
Victor quietly calls to the group, "What are orcs more afraid of? Death clowns? Unicorns?"

Lutha & Wolfram remain in agreed formation, full alert, but no special actions other than that Lutha is in "ready to cast spell"-mode

Dungeon Master:
Looks like I just need Pulpatoon's actions now, then we start a new round of actions.
Remember the triggering mechanism has not been found yet!
Also, whom is bearing the torch(es)?
I would think the ones using single-handed weapons.

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
Ok, one way or another we have to get past this net. Mr. Choe, if you can assist me, I will attempt to disarm it, if not, I will trigger it and have my dagger ready to cut myself free while you are all back and ready to engage anyone or anything that comes forth.
Resigned to the decision, Wexley takes a moment to remove his pack and equipment except for the clothes he is wearing and his knife.
Tarred was it? Removing his cloak and handing it to Mr. Choe, he then lays down in the dirt and gives himself a solid dirt bath in the dust and mud before standing and taking his cloak back to wrap it about his head like a big turbin. Hopefully the dust and mud will hinder the adherence of the tar and the elevated nature of my cloak will keep what does touch to a minimum contact with my arms so I can cut free. Make sure you all stay back and remember the caltrops. Having said this, Wexley remembers the second gourd full of caltrops, pauses a moment to remove them from the pack and hand the gourd to Maya. Toss it HARD at the ceiling a bit distant into the cave and it will shatter and scatter the contents. Make sure you gauge about 10 ft forward of your target to give them a chance to fall and spread. Resigned to his action, Wexley smiles and awaits Mr. Choe's help in disarming the trap.
Disarm traps or pick locks [1d100] = 48
I know we haven't found the trigger, but Wexley is going to see if he can somehow trigger the net or lock it up somehow as it has to be a rope/string/wire release and should be able to be knotted and snarled to prevent proper release

Ewat: arrow nocked, eyes open.
Idonea: Fork and eyes forward.
Torches: Who has single-handed weapons and no infravision?

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
Mort has no infra and has a two handed weapon ranged and single hand one for melee.
Kormak has a form of infra and a two handed weapon as his primary, a two handed for range being a bow and a one hand weapon back up.
Borum has infra and a hammer one or two handed now entirely sure.

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
Maya uses single-handed weapon but she uses a shield.
Victor is a spell caster and thus can wield a torch to give central lighting to the group.

Re: Chapter 6: Into the Valley of the Caves of Chaos
I find it fitting this must have happened to the 1st group. It also almost happened to the 2nd group in the rock slide.

Dungeon Master:
Ok, Mr. Choe, Lutha Cee & Victor can be the main torch bearers until they need to cast magic or melee.
No one found the camouflaged tarred net's trigger in the first 10 feet of space, you can tell the net extends beyond that.
I am debating letting the trap seekers just roll an intelligence check to find & follow the trigger or simply have them continue down to the next 10 ft of cave & pointing to where they are looking for traps & doing the usual percentile rolls & searches.

Mr. Choe
Choe places a hand on Wexley's chest to prevent further action. Wait! he says, just back up a bit.
Choe raises his torch to the tarred net and sets it ablaze.
Everyone wait a few minuets. This might trigger an alarm. So be ready. We let the trap burn-out.
Choe smiles.
