Yes. All or most rolls made in this game format just use the 1d100. You will be taking your intelligence rank value and comparing it to the master table. Depending on your d100 roll, you have a range of numbers that will determine whether it was a success, or a fumble. In order to figure out some of the basic mechanics for the device, like how to shoot it, you will need just a minor success. Higher success are rewarded accordingly...

Hot Streak's quick on the fly tinkering yields a few of the gun's features. One of the side panels allows for a touch screen based input, much like the smartphones of today. It seems haphazardly put together though, almost as if the touch screen implementation was forced for ease of use by its creator. The letters and numbers you see on the screen are based off of some alien text, but for some reason, you are able to figure out what certain groupings mean with relative ease. Luck perhaps, or an intuitive sense of what does what, you don't know. What you do know is that you now know how to fire the gun, reload it, and shut it on and off.

Hot Streak puts on a song over his little smartphone and decides to use the gun for a while with a wicked grin he goes to back up Vorpal if needed.

By the time Hot Streak catches up to Vorpal, he is already at the end of the windowed corridor, right at the intersection of a staircase and a corridor leading to some rooms. You see streaks of green bullets flying past, either missing or hitting the door shield that Vorpal has raised. As you approach, he says to you with a bit of envy in his voice: "so you got that gun to work huh? Guess it's yours then." He then looks around the corner through a thin crevice nods his head in confirmation. "So, I've got the freak trapped down there. He seems to like hiding in the rooms. I figure, he can't last for long. Once the bullets stop flying, I will make my move. Oh, and I've been hearing some strange noises up above. I think there might be more of them trying to find us, just as a heads up man."

As Vorpal says this, the sounds above start to become noticeable to you as well. Scratches and growls, the sounds of footsteps, there is definitely something going on up there.

With alien weapon of destruction on one shoulder and a pair of flame gauntlets ready to blast, Hot Streak ascends the staircase with renewed confidence, a Metallica song blasting into his ears. As you walk out of the staircase area, you find another set of rooms similar to the layout of the first two floors, on your right. To your left is an enclosed area with a set of double doors. You can hear sounds coming from both directions, though you are not sure what belongs to what.

Hot Streak goes over to the double doors first and opens them.

You enter what appears to be a lounge area. There are many tables and chairs still set up, aged over time, all facing what appears to be a raised platform, a stage of some sorts. Amongst the chairs and tables across the room, you can see one of the more wild looking creatures from before. On all fours, it props itself up on a table and stares down at you. You can hear a growl and it appears as if it is about to pounce on you.

Its the first mutated soldier in the picture, the one with little to no armor.

Hot Streak points his new toy at the thing and does the figured out procedure for firing it.

[1d100] = 58

Hot Streak doesn't give it any time to reach him. With alien energy rocket launcher at the ready, he fires a green volley of energy at the leaping mutant soldier. When the flash of light and explosion ends, Hot streak can only see a crater where the tables and chairs, and most importantly, the mutant was. The blast site smokes with the familiar green vapors and seems super hot to the touch, considering that the objects that survived the blast are melted. Looking at the side panel on the weapon, you notice that where there was once 3 shapes, there are now only 2.

"Well that was fun." he said with a growing smile. Then Blake starts looking around for something else to blast.

Do you leave the room or continue looking in the one you are currently in?

Blake will search the current room then proceed to back in the hall and look for another door or stairs or Vorpal.

Hot Streak searches the room and finds nothing of interest. The floor at the crater collapses and creates a hole looking down upon the second floor. You can hear Vorpal cussing up a storm down below, saying stuff like "WHAT THE F--- WAS THAT BLAST!?! HOLY SHIT! YOUR BLASTING THE CEILINGS DOWN NOW!?!" among other things...

You decide to back track a bit and head towards the staircase. You look down the corridor full of doors and take note that this is another living section. Some of the doors are open, forced, and you can see debris scattered across the rugged floors. Please roll an Awareness check for me ;)

I'm sorry to say, but in this rule set, 100 is the equivalent to a big fat zero. Meaning you will always fail or fumble when rolling a 100. :( sorry man...

Hot Streak continues to look around and does not notice any enemy activity. While listening to his 'evil' playlist, he comes across a song he especially likes and starts to crank it up, against his better judgement. Not really sure where you will find the last mutant soldier, you start to look through the first few rooms that have been forced open. You see nothing but green piles of goo and torn up room debris.

Blake keeps on looking and turns off the music "Vorp what on earth is taking you so long. I thought you were more skilled than that old friend."

When you turn off your music and shout down towards Vorpal, you can hear the sounds of gunfire stop. Looks like the cornered mutant soldier just ran out of ammunition, like Vorpal theorized. A few rushed steps, the bursting of a door and the quick thuds and grunts of close quarter skirmish confirms that Vorpal is just now wrapping things up on his end.

Walking back out into the hallway, you renew your search of the last soldier, only to find its green energy bullet searing through one of your arms, making you drop the heavy alien rocket launcher. You take 30 points of damage. Darting your head to the left, you can see the soldier now at the end of the hallway, partially concealed by one of the doors that were forced open. You can see it cackle and start reloading its gun.

Actions!
