Re: Morik's Run (IC - Morik. GreyWolfVT only)
The lock yields to Morik's picking. Steep stairs ascend upwards 30' before ending at another door. Can this mean he is reaching the surface again and an end to his Run?

The stairs lead into a 20'x20' room. There is a door in the east wall. Two locked chests are in the middle of the room. Each has a piece of parchment on top, with a few words written in a difficult language.

Morik walks to both chests and attempts to read the parchment on each chest.
Chest 1 Parchment Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 47
Chest 2 Parchment Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 93
Then Morik proceeds to investigate both for traps
Chest 1 Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 94
Chest 2 Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 85
after trying to figure out the traps on the chests he will check to see if they are locked before going on.

The words on the parchment remain a mystery to Morik. The thief finds no traps on either chest, though both are locked.

As Morik attempts to pick the first chest lock a puff of smoke suddenly whiffs into his face from a trap. (Save vs. Poison.)

Re: Morik's Run (IC - Morik. GreyWolfVT only)
Morik waits for the fumes to dwindle down and wil work to try and force both chests open. Using his dagger to try and create a space big enough to try and get the pole into the chest opening for better leverage to pry if that is not possible he will use his sword eventually he will give up if nothing works.

The door bears no lock and opens to another steep and narrow stairwell that ascends 40' and turns north.

Re: Morik's Run (IC - Morik. GreyWolfVT only)
Morik proceeds up the stairs slowly so as not to fall. He will follow the stairs entirely until they reach a door, landing or passage.

Re: Morik's Run (IC - Morik. GreyWolfVT only)
Morik rounds the north corner and sees the stairs continue up another 40' to a door. Under the sill crack light shines out. As Morik's foot steps on the stair there is a click and suddenly a short pole juts from the wall stopping a few inches from Morik's chest. On the end of it is a red cloth with words: 'This spear just killed you.'

Re: Morik's Run (IC - Morik. GreyWolfVT only)
Morik lets out a sigh and grabs at the pole "Whatever stupid test normally I'd have more than one shot at picking a lock."

Morik continues up the stairs to the door. He hears voices behind the door; light comes out from under the door.
