Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Re: Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Flint, Illusionist
The slippery Illusionist also slides away from combat, seeking distance. His monacle finds its way back to his eye, in a desperate hope to find something otherwise unseen.

Bjorn will attack the giant with his magical mace.
Mace+2 Hit + Bless[1d20 +3] = 3+3 = 6 Sm/Med Dmg[1d6 +3] = 4+3 = 7 Lrg Dmg[1d6 +2] = 6+2 = 8 @ Giant with cleaver.

Three Heads Are Better Than One? - Round Two
The hermaphrogiants press the attack. The fearsome three-skull flail swings down again on the ranger. Andover dives out of the way, but is rattled enough that his own sword swipe at the creature misses.
The cook whacks Bjorn the cleric with his ladle (7 HP damage.) The cleaver, bigger than a two-handed sword, hacks down on the dwarf. Bjorn rolls under a nearby table. The cleaver thuds into the heavy oak table, getting stuck for the time being (fumble.) Bjorn scrambles out and attacks with his mace, but the giant's third arm interferes with the dwarf's aim.
In response to the alarm from the youth giant, the adventurers hear many thumping footsteps running from the connecting west room.
Shen the monk barks a word of power and his magic ring shoots forth a pummeling ram's head that hits the giant attacking Andover (6 HP.) With a snarl Poltux charges the giant attacking Andover. His javelin gores the giant deeply in the hip (11 HP.) It screams.
From the doorway Honnilee the hobbit lets loose a sling stone that flies to high. Flint the illusionist grabs his monocle in his pouch - his hand brushing the jewel eye patch acquired earlier. The monocle reveals nothing insightful or helpful.
Ianin the evoker, realizing still more giants will enter the fray, bolts into the room to near the west door. He chants and draws forth a rotten egg from his pouch. With a flourish of his hands and crushing of the egg he summons forth a noxious, stinking cloud of vapors into the room from which more giants are coming.
Raquinel's wand orchestrates a cauldron attack. The sorceress sits on Idwellin's shoulders in the hallway for an unobstructed view. She telekinetically dumps the cauldron of boiling stew onto the cook giant. It screams in pain (19 HP.) Animal limbs and other unknown ingredients splash all around the giant.

Bjorn tries to keep pressing his attack upon the cook giant. But still cannot land a hit.
Mace+2 Hit + Bless[1d20 +3] = 6+3 = 9 Sm/Med Dmg[1d6 +3] = 6+3 = 9 Lrg Dmg[1d6 +2] = 6+2 = 8
Current HP: 10/17 O.o is that all I have really??

Andover sets his jaw and tries one more time to hit the giant that's attacking him. Finally, his sword strikes true!

Ianin, while he is off to the side, will attempt to throw one of his daggers towards the biggest giant, aiming for it's knee to try and buckle the thing.
Ianin, thrown dagger THAC1 20 : to hit: [1d20] = 6, damage [1d4] = 2/[1d3] = 1

Re: Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Honnilee fires off another sling round at the closest Giant. We should get out of here! They're too powerful!
Re: Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Curse and rot the risk! Flint growls to himself, seeing very little chance for his party's survival. Defying group concensus, he dons both the crystal eyepatch and the scintillating guantlet taken from the Bull-Orc Mongrelman. If he sees what the Halfling Thief descibed seeing thru the 'patch, 6 Grimlocks waiting, he will beckon for them with the glove.

Ripping his javelin from the giant's hip with a turn, Poltux attempts to skewer the hideous giant again...
...and again.

Three Heads Are Better Than One? - Round Three
Ianin the conjurer's stinking cloud into the west room forms in the midst of three giants.
One giant is huge at 14', while the others are 12' and 10'. All three reel over in wracking coughs and vomit. The giant youth flees through a door in the south wall (see map.)
Ianin tries to take advantage of the giants incapacitation. He throws a dagger but it flies off the mark.
Andover faces down the ranger's sworn enemy, evil giants, and this time Spellslasher bites deep into the flail giant. The creature was reeling from Shen's ring blow and Poltux's javelin. Andover's stroke is the coup de gras.
Poltux, about to attack the giant again, sees it die. He pivots, steps and lunges at the cook giant. The half-orc's javelin pierces its ribs. The hermaphro-giant grunts in pain, heavily wounded from the blow and the boiling cauldron dropped on it. It tries to whack Poltux with the ladle, as the cleaver is still stuck in the table. Poltux blocks the ladle with the shaft of his javelin.
Bjorn the dwarf swings his enchanted mace at the cook giant's knee, but is spoiled by the ladle. Honnilee the hobbit slings a stone at the cook, but her aim is too high. Shen the monk delivers a round-house kick, praying mantis style, but the giant's third arm blocks it.
Whispering Flint dons the Hand of Kwyll and Eye of Rhys. The illusionist sees the misty red cavern and six morlocks. They notice him and come together and toward him, waiting expectantly. Flint motions with his jewel-scaled, gloved hand, and the morloks step forth into Flint's reality.
They attack the giants with savage ferocity.
Raquinel the sorceress sees these two giants are well in hand, but others remain in the adjacent room. She darts in along with Idwellin the druid to take an eye-sight position into that west room. Durandal the cleric, unused to combat after 10 years as a statue, overcomes his nervousness and rushes in to aid the wounded dwarf.

Bjorn still continues to try and hit the giant. Mace+2 Hit[1d20 +2] = 8+2 = 10 Sm/Med Dmg[1d6 +3] = 2+3 = 5 Lrg Dmg[1d6 +2] = 6+2 = 8

Andover attacks any giants he can without getting himself into the noxious cloud.
Re: Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Honnilee seems to ignore her own advice as she fires off another sling shot at any available Giant.

Whispering Flint dares not allow concentration on his duties as Grim Master to falter. He recalls seeing the Bull-Orc doing nothing during battle except direct the Grimlocks.

Re: Chpt. 3 - The Wonders of the Palace
Three Heads Are Better Than One? - Round Four
The injured cook giant roars with its two male and one female heads. It is quite loud. It finally pulls its cleaver free of the table and hacks at Poltux. The cleaver clangs metal-on-metal as the half-orc warrior parries skillfully with his javelin shaft.
With its second arm the giant swings the ladle at Bjorn. The dwarf scoots low and avoids the lethal ladle. With its third arm the giant grabs a table to use as a shield, which repels Bjorn's mace attack.
The other adventurers gang up on the cook giant. Andover spins around and with mighty sweeps slashes one leg clean off, then the other leg. Poltux's javelin skewers the dead giant's belly. Guts splash, blood fountains from leg stumps. Honnilee's sling stone flies high again. Shen the monk hesitates at the west doorway, wary of the stinking cloud. Ianin also at the doorway takes careful aim with his dagger, hurls it, and strikes the largest giant in the chest (critical, 6 HP.)
Durandal then steps close to Bjorn. "Let me heal you," he says and places his hand on the dwarf. Bjorn feels divine spirit touch him and his wounds heal (7 HP.)
Flint the illusionist concentrates on guiding the morloks he brought forth with glove and eye patch.
He is not sure if he is having an effect, but regardless the morloks seem intent on killing giants. The six morloks, seeing no enemies alive in the room, run through the open west door. They disregard the stinking cloud and attack the three giants, two on each. Some succumb to the noxious cloud, others don't. They hack and claw and bite the giants, which continue to be nauseous.
Atop Idwellin's shoulders in a position to see into the adjoining room, Raquinel the Purple quickly chants a magic missile incantation. Two red arrows of energy dart forth from her hand and hit the largest giant (9 HP.) Idwellin the 6'7" druid draws forth his sling and fires at the same giant. He hits it squarely in the forehead (critical, 6 HP.)

Andover, having no intention of entering the stinking cloud, takes a moment to down the rest of his healing potion.
