[Game #1] Osan Taan's Thread

Osan Taan

Osan crouches down quietly and continues to watch the Northern Barbarian Woman to see if he can make out anything that distinguishes her as a member of a tribe or clan that he recognizes. Remembering the corpse impaled by a conical rock he just saw, he looks above the Barbarian and himself to look for any similar rock formations. He will stay well clear of any such formations that he sees.

From her dress and style of weapon, Osan recognizes the woman as being a member of the Suevi clans to the north of the Norwold, some twenty leagues farther than the Gallic town of Immshold. The Suevi are traditional enemies of Norlund, raiding south on their karvis and knarrskips.

One would think that Osan's people would be friendly to the Suevi as a result (the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that), but everyone hates everyone in this section of the Continent of Ornfal. Osan is confident that he would get his head lopped off if he announced his presence suddenly. Besides, the wilder thought, I don't speak Suevi.

Osan speaks his own Wilder tongue and Gallic.

Osan continues to watch from the shadow of the tunnel, sling at the ready.

The Suevi woman decides, for some perverse reason, to wade into the pool. Plucking her torch from the wall, the barbarian steps into the pool and continues to prod directly ahead.

Getting about ten feet into the pool, Osan sees several snake-like forms slither to the surface and raise themselves up, positioning their bodies for attack. Sure enough, the things lash out at the hapless woman, with two of them sliding in and latching onto the fighter's midsection and leg. Screaming in pain and shock, the woman seems to flounder!

So easy to allow the Suevi to die an ignoble death, Osan thinks to himself. Just the cycle of life...

Seeing an opportunity to show the Suevi he is not an enemy, Osan shouts a warning in Gallic, and tosses a fire beetle gland into the pool near the Suevi so the snake things can be seen. If he can attack one of the leeches on the Barbarian without striking the barbarian, he will do so, otherwise he will attack the nearest leech.

Osan Aklys: to hit [1d20] = 9, damage [1d4] = 2

Shouting the equivalent of "Ware! I can help!" in Gallic, Osan attempts to strike the leech attached to the woman with his aklys.

Missing, as the opponents are thrashing about greatly, the druid reels his throwing club back in.
