Episode 1: Into the Wasteland......

Frank will move towards Kapok and lend his intelec to the endeavor

Kapok shakes his head, "I know not what this is..." He examines the wall where it transitions into the dirt wall to see if he can tell if maybe it is something foreign and not really a "wall", but... the side of a large rock? or a ship, maybe?

“And perhaps it is a door… Mellon!” Bart bellows in a laugh.
When this fails he taps the poll of his axe on the rock.
Then continues to the edge where the rock and earth meet, and begins to dig looking for an edge.

Frank, Kapok and Bart examine the rock wall.

You dig into the dirt, trying to find an edge of the rock. After some effort and discussion, you determine that the rock is natural. Whatever dug this chamber must have hit a rocky area and stopped digging.

The vibration and ensuing sound is still a mystery. You are unable to determine if it originates on the other side of a narrow, rocky wall or if it is being conducted from a distance to this chamber.

"So... something dug a tunnel to lay eggs. Stopped at the rock. But... this is not a good place to nest," he concludes, looking at the desiccated egg sacks and larvae. His plant-like body rustles, as if someone was walking through a pile of leaves. "Could be radiation source nearby..."

Looking toward the entrance Bart ponders, “Why board up this tunnel just for these youths?”, as he speaks he gesture at the larvae. “What happen to momma?”

"Momma is what I am worrjed about" Frank loos about for any other ways out of the chamber,, besidedsmthe one we entered.

Nor-jax mutant ape

Nor- jax looks for other places to go.

[Norjax]

You search for another exit to the chamber, but are unable to locate any other egress, pit or holes.

Bart heads back the way they came in.

"and to get my rope!" he grins.

Kapok, Mutant Plant

Kapok nods his head, "At least out of here..."

Nor jax want out of hole.

Blixx mutant Human

Blixx helps the party on their egress from the egg tomb. Blixx flies up securing the rope once again and keeping watch while his friends exit the chamber.

[Norjax]

You follow the tunnel back the way you came, crossing the covered pit, retrieving useful equipment and supplies and crawl out of the hole into the ruined building.

The sun is setting, so you decide to camp in the building for the evening. The night passes without incident.

“We could head for that smoke we saw earlier.”

Bart peers out of the ruins toward where the smoke snaked up from the horizon. He also observes the sky for storm clouds.

"I, too, would like to check on the smoke... "

"Sounds like a plan." Frank growls as he collects his belongings taking a slug from the whiskey he makes ready to leave.

[Norjax]

You leave the shelter of the ruined market behind as you follow the ancient road towards the smoke spotted the other day. No smoke is currently visible, and a series of hills to the south blocks a direct view to the assumed source.

After a few hours of travel east, the hills start to end and the road turns south, beginning a long, gradual decent into a desolate valley.

About two miles away, in the bottom of the shallow valley, is a settlement at the crossing of the road you are on (RT22) and another crumbling roadway. You spot more smoke, but it is low and lingers near the ground, drifting in the slight breeze. The gray smoke appears to be coming from several sources in and around the settlement. You are too far away to detect any movement or discern any more details.
