Beya; about to cast her Magic Missile spell; suddenly shakes out of her dweamor-connection mind-set and stares in surprise as the.....whatever it is...flees. Blinking for a moment at her companion's question; she then shrugs and replies; "Well...let's head that way and see what we can find; but be wary for it setting a trap or leading us into an ambush. Thoughts?"

The party presues the badly wounded spider, and it is easy enough to track, as it is leaking a "goo" that is yellowish in color. you arrive to the room to the North, and you see it in the room, apparently dead, not moving and on the ground.

The room itself is 40 x 40, with 4 of the bronze metal pillars and a central alter of sorts in the moddle, at ground level, it is 5x5 and square in shape. You do see that something is on the alter, but you are not sure what it is without getting closer.

you are at the archway on the south side of the room. the dead spider is on the eastern side archway. There is no northern or western archways.

Husker the thief

"Not on your life! Someone else poke it..."

Husker will move toward the altar, 10' pole in hand, to try and determine what is on top.

Ceric approaches the unmoving form of the mechanical spider. "Stand back," he says. With sword held out in front of him and shield raised, Ceric will prod at beast with the tip of his sword.

The spider is dead, or at least, non-functional, you do not see anything organic about it. It consists of cogs, gears, and other bits of metal like a small form a of a clock. There is a center glass vial that is shattered and is the source of the trail that you followed. You can take the Ax out if you want. (Or search it more carefully.)

The alter is low, and as you approach, a booming voice speaks in Dwarven.

PM sent to our Dwarf, let me know if anyone else has Dwarven as a language.

Beya nods her head vigorously in agreement with Husker's comment; "What he said....words of wisdom there..."; she says with a nervous smile while inspecting the 'dead' mechanical spider. Glancing over at the Dwarf; she asked; "Have you ever heard or seen such a construct?"

Brother Meldred looks down. "I wonder if the spider was suppose to be more helpful? I'm all for a challenge...just hate to think the piece we need lies in ruin though."

Noelle looks at the spider.

"I heard that some dwarves clans found mystic energy in the turning of gears and harnessing the natural energy of water and fire. Perhaps this is a creation of such a clan. While I am all for great treasure, perhaps we should look around before we go forward with this test, as it sounds like we can come back to it later. "

The halfling checks the body of the spider to see if can discern the axe he tossed earlier and recover it.
