Checking Out The Caves (initial run)

You can go ahead and do any more planning here, if necessary. As soon as it seems everyone is ready to head out, we will kick this into high gear.

As the fledgling adventurers prepare to head out in the morning, last minute plans and purchases are made.

The group leaders gather their crews, deciding to travel to the area together before splitting off into smaller groups.

Rida will be ready in the morning. He is just wrapping up a purchase at the quartermasters.

Sylla will arrive well before time in the morning, greeting Rida and then patiently waiting for Renna to lead the way.

"As many have already suggested, travelling in a large group until we have to part ways seems like the only reasonable option. Has anyone seen Pim, by the way?"

Gyb arrives at the meeting place dripping wet and wide-awake, after giving his head a quick dunk in the fountain. He continues his morning routine with some push-ups as he waits.

Renna arrives a first light, ready to lead into the Unknown.

The cleric is up bright and early with Renna. Once everyone has gathered and are ready to go he says a brief prayer to Fharlanghn, asking him to bless the endeavours of those gathered here as they journey into the unknown (to us at least).

Regardless of where he sleeps, the Half-Orc of Longspear is ready to go come morning. He first heads for the tavern to see if there is anything for breakfast and then gets his gear and meets up with his traveling companions.

Deducted 2 gold for food and board; let me know if I need to deduct more.

We can figure out how to add the two (or maybe one ) stragglers when that time comes.

The rest of us can continue the plan of leaving at first light.

Outside the Keep
Early Morning

In the morning, as the newcomers to the Keep are readying for their big day and their first trip to the caves, the sun starts to poke its head up above the distant horizon. After collecting their gear from their rooms, and weapons from the front gate, the gang assembles outside the gates to start their hike to the north.

A cat walks by as they discuss who should be positioned where, learning earlier from a few older adventurers that it is very important to have the right people in the right places when you're marching.

Birds chirp in the nearby forest, welcoming the fledgling explorers to this new and exciting day. No people or wagons can be seen on the road in either direction as you prepare to head out.

Squinting at the sun and silently cursing himself for drinking too much ale - but damn, it was good ale! - Dredd looks around at the group he is in and the other one, trying to do a quick count, but numbers was never his thing. "Ain't we missing one or two? Where's Croebus?"

"While I would welcome Crobeus but I think he decided to go adventuring with Thirteen. Pim was suppose to be here as well."

And for the record we originally had Meinhardt as well, but he dropped out of the game.

"Good Day. Ready to march."

Rida seems cheerful and excited as everyone is about to head out.

"Maybe they are around here somewhere. Under a bush or in a tree. Gyb should have told them that. Sleep in a bush. Or up a tree. Safe places, out of doors." Gyb sounds optimistic.

For those of you who haven't played in my games much, I normally leave a LOT of clues for you to follow in my updates. (yes, even if you choose to ignore them)

Most of the time, they are subtle hints to keep things moving forward. (you know how much I like posts that keep the action moving)

So, without actually requesting it specifically this time, (and to give the waiting players something to do) what do you think I was hinting at in my last update?

I will even help narrow it down for you.

I was just waiting response in the tavern thread to see if we had a henchman coming along, but it seems not...

Sylla gets up on top of a cart and raises her voice:

"Alright, let's get this expedition going. Keya and Magdal, would you like to lead? Your skills in tracking, keen eyesight and knowledge of beasts might come in handy.

Rida and Dredd, would you guard our rear as we march?"

Dredd

"This place has a lot of cats," the Half-Orc says to no one, fishing out a piece of a biscuit he had tucked away for breakfast. He bends down and tosses it to the cat. Never one for pets, or animals in particular, Dredd looks around to see if there are any others. He tries to remember if this is the same cat they saw when they entered.
When Sylla calls out the marching order, Dredd raises his hand and gives her a thumbs up.

Magdal

Magdal rises early skipping breakfast as her coin purse is near hollow. She will hope to gather some fruit or wild vegetables along the trail. She excitedly looks over the large group. She nods to Sylla's question, "I'd be happy to help take the lead," before glancing to Keya, "Though likely Keya has more experience than I at this."

At the sight of the cat, Magdal bursts out with a wide grin, "Hey there kitty." Watching Dredd feed the cat she gives him a warm smile, though you aren't sure if its for the cat or Dredd. She tempted to pet the creature but she needs to focus on the task at hand.
