OOC: This is Zhym's post, put in the wrong thread by accident, just placing it here and then answering:

Zhym's post: Is there a good spot where Nado can make life really uncomfortable for as many enemy soldiers as possible, either by entangling them in the brush or hitting them with some annoying weather?

Answer: Yes, you can crouch down in one of the Sangars (foxhole with rocks piled up around it) and use some weather to mess with a few advancing troops.....considering you're on rocky, snow covered mountains....not much brush at the moment to utilize...but certainly a strong wind/sleet storm could drive an obscuring haze of snow and water into the faces of some troops....

I actually did mean to post that in the OOC thread—but I forgot that you're more okay than most with OOC questions in the IC thread. :)

Nado crouches down in a sangar and draws on the wintry weather to make life really rough for the oncoming enemy troops.

Like the Fellowship of the Ring on Mt. Caradhras...

Early Afternoon of January 6th, 1944; Monte Majo, Italy

The half dozen members of SST 11 moved into position as the Austrians began their counter-assault in an attempt to reclaim their positions on the rocky slopes of Monte Majo....

Mark 'Mike' Battaglia gave Phil Heuron a sour look and half grin as the two men squeezed into the metal pill box and he got behind the MG 34 Machinegun as Phil checked and slotted a belt of 7.92mm rounds into the weapon. "Is Mark or Mario or even Battaglia THAT hard to remember Phil?", he asked as his eyes scanned the front and both men could see the 10 members of the enemy squad break into 4 separate groups. Right in front of them, they saw a pair of troops kneeling behind a couple of rocks and quickly setting up an MG 42 MG on a tripod some 75 or so yards away. Behind them by about 10 yards and crouched down in some better cover were a solider with an MP 40 SMG, probably marking him the NCO in charge of the unit and another solider working with some kind of heavy piece of equipment they couldn't quite make out. Then spread out about 20 yards to either side were two groups of 3 soldiers each, moving forward in a crouch, uphill....each holding a KAR 98 rifle. Mark/Mike said; "Okay, we're gonna hose down that MG team before they can set up on us, okay.....just keep feeding the beast...", and he pulls the trigger, sending a spray of heavy rounds down-range that quickly tear into one member of the MG team and send the other falling onto his belly and out of sight.....

To the left of the Pillbox, CPL John Porcupine and 2nd LT Nahum Chisholm dropped down into the Sangar and they quickly saw the German/Austrian unit split up (as listed above) and saw the trio of soldiers moving towards them. John reached down deep within himself and connected with his Talent Power and soon, a section of land right in front of the enemy troops was suddenly smooth and clear as boulders 'melted' into the earth and holes/depressions filled in. Chisholm saw the trio about 70 yards away gasp in surprise as their cover just vanished!*

To the right of the Pillbox, SGT Koda moved a few more rocks in front of the Sangar and Tom Nado moved in next to him as the enemy made their move. They saw a trio of soldiers move towards them...all crouching down and using cover. Each was carrying a KAR 98 rifle and one had a scope on it and Nado activated his Talent Power and a moment later, a cloud of sleet and snow was sailing into the faces of each of the trio and two of them fired very blindly into the 'storm' and their shots went nowhere. The last solider, the one with the scoped Rifle, took careful aim and sent a 7.92mm round at them that smashed into one of the new rocks that Koda had stacked up, just inches away from his face. The Canadian First Nations member KNEW that if he hadn't of done that, that round would've hit him in the head! Taking a quick look out, he could tell the trio were about 70 yards away....

Finally, the NCO fired a burst from his MP 40 at the pillbox, but the range was too great and the rounds just chewed up dirt about 10 yards in front of Heuron and Battaglia's position. What was MORE alarming though was the soldier next to the NCO revealed a long, tubular weapon that he moved to point towards the pillbox......

OOC: Okay, I hope that the situation is clear.....basically to the left is Porcupine and Chisholm in a sangar (a foxhole with rocks around it) and in front of them, about 70 yards away are 3 German (Austrian) Riflemen, with no cover thanks to John's Power. 70 yards is long range for Nahum's SMG, so keep that in mind.....

To the right are Koda and Nado in a Sangar, with 3 German Riflemen in front of them, about 70 yards away who have some cover...but also have a sleet/snow storm blowing in their face, making life difficult for them. One of them is a Marksman with a Scoped KAR 98.

Finally, in the middle is Heuron (and 'Mike' Battaglia the NPC) in a pillbox with an MG 34 MG and they just fired on a pair of German troops 75 yards away setting up an MG42 and took one of them out.

Behind the MG team of the Germans, some 80 or so yards out are the last two Germans, one with an MP 40 who is the Squad Leader and the other with a Rocket Launcher he is pointing at the Pillbox.

Chisholm

Chisholm fires his Tommy Gun as cover fire at the nearest Germans. Then yells at the top of his lungs, "Take out the rocket launcher first!"

Koda will move his point of view and he knows he is not a great shot, he will watch the movement and take out his 3 grenades and place them for easy use.

Is the rocket launcher within reliable range of our machine gun? I assume so, since it's just a little bit farther than the enemy MG we just targeted. Phil will direct Mark to fire on him.

Early Afternoon of January 6th, 1944; Monte Majo, Italy

On the rocky, snowy slopes of Monte Majo in Italy, the members of SST 11 engaged with a squad of Austrian-German troops in fierce battle....

Inside the cramped pillbox, Phil Heuron pointed out the position of a German soldier towards the rear bringing a Rocket Launcher up and aimed their way to Mark/Mike Battaglia manning the MG 34 and with a quick, "ON IT!", Battaglia responding by sending a long spray of 7.92mm rounds his way as Phil fed the belt into the deadly weapon. The rounds tore into the rocks all around the German solider and then smashed into him as well, knocking him down and causing his spasming hand to send a rocket flying off into a different section of rocks, BEHIND the Allied position. Phil and Battaglia were happy to see that the spray of rounds had ALSO caused the German NCO to drop to the ground seeking cover as well, but then they were themselves docking down as the German MG 42 suddenly sprayed a burst of rounds that impacted the pillbox, but did NOT slip in thru the firing slit. Clearly, one of the MG crew was still alive and able to send short bursts of fire their way....

In the sangar to the left of the Pillbox, SGT John Porcupine was thrilled to suddenly see the approaching trio of German soldiers get caught out in the open and he fired a well-aimed round from his M1 Garand that smashed into the upper chest of the solider in the middle and the enemy staggered back and then fell face-down, never to rise again....

Next to John, LT Chisholm yelled out for Phil and Mark to take out the Rocket Launcher wielding German and as they did so, he sent a 10 round spray of rounds at the remaining pair of German riflemen out in the open after Porcupine dropped one and he was happy to see that both opponents dropped to the ground and were unable to return fire at them for the moment....

In the sangar; or rock-protected foxhole to the right of the Pillbox, SGT Koda and CPL Nado engaged the trio of German Riflemen facing them. First, Nado kept up his 'mini-storm' of snow and sleet, blowing into the faces of the German troops and causing two of them to charge forward awkwardly in an attempt to get out of the 'bubble' of nasty weather....closing to a range of about 50 yards, unable to get a decent shot off in return. The one solider with a Scoped KAR 98 however, stepped off to the side, took careful aim and fired a shot that burned a grazing line along the left forearm of Tom Nado and caused him to yelp in surprise and alarm for a moment, momentarily dropping his Power. As the kid from the Ozarks looked down quickly, he was relieved to see he wasn't seriously injured * and glanced from his Johnson LMG to his opponents; quickly deciding his next course of action....

Next to Nado, staying low and crouched down in the Sangar; SGT Koda took out a pair of grenades and a pair of Javelins and laid them out, ready to use. He then took a quick moment to look up and he saw the pair of German troops charging towards them; about 40 yards away and the one with the Scoped Rifle who had stayed back at a range of maybe 65 yards....

*Nado is Grazed (rolled well for you STR and TERRIBLE for the German's damage roll....I know....you're DEVASTATED....:)
OOC: Okay, 3 Germans out (one of the MG crew, the RL solider and one of the Riflemen facing off against John and Chisholm)....7 left....2 Riflemen facing off against Porcupine and the good LT; 3 Riflemen (2 at 40 yards or so; 1 with a Scoped KAR 98 at about 65 yards) facing off against Nado and Koda; 1 MG crewmen and 1 NCO facing off against the Pillbox MG team (Phil and NPC Mark)

Early Afternoon of January 6th, 1944; Monte Majo, Italy

On the rocky, snowy mountain known as Monte Majo, a fierce battle continued to rage between a force of Austro-Germans and the American/Canadian unit known as the First Special Service Force....

SGT John Porcupine saw the left most German solider scrambling forward and getting to within about 50 yards and he fired his M1 Garand once, then twice, missing with both shots and letting out a curse as the second shot ricocheted off a rock just inches from his target. He then cursed again as his target fired back and a 7.92mm round zipped inches past his head, sounding like and angry hornet....

Next to John, newly promoted LT Nahum Chisholm took careful aim at the German on the right, moving forward like his buddy and he fired a 5 round burst that tagged the man in the center of his body. The soldier attempted to rise up, but then fell heavily and didn't move again....

In the tiny pillbox CPL Phil Heuron and TSGT Mark Battaglia manned a captured German MG 34 machinegun and fired back at a German solider manning an MG 42 and who was attempting to fire back at them. Mark's aim was on and Phil continued to feed the rounds from the belt into the hungry monster of a weapon, letting out a gleeful shout of victory as their rounds tore into the German gunner and took him out for good. Looking back out the little gun slit, he could see the German NCO and squad leader moving back, carefully staying behind cover....clearly falling back to the lines while yelling over his shoulder something that Phil couldn't hear from this range....

To the right of the MG Pillbox, Tom Nado let the impromptu 'sleet storm' dissipate and he took aim at the German marksman with the scoped rifle with his own Johnson LMG. The Ozarks country boy was a damn fine shot and he proved it by putting most of his 5 round burst into the German sharp-shooter and eliminating that threat forever. His feral cry of victory was short lived though as a German round clipped the rock inches near him with a loud report as it deflected away from him and then he heard the hiss of pain from the man right next to him, SGT Koda....

SGT Koda fired a shot at the pair of German soldiers advancing towards them while he saw in his peripheral vision that Tom was firing at the German sniper hanging back. Unfortunately, Koda's shot just missed and one of the advancing German soldiers fired a shot that left a stinging pain in his left side. A quick feel with his hand came back with blood and a moment later the pain kicked in*....

OOC: Okay, Koda was Wounded (-1D to all actions until treated)...

There are 4 total enemies still out there.....On the Left, there is one German Rifleman across from John and Chisholm.....on the Right, there are two Riflemen across from Koda and Tom....and in the center, the German NCO seems to be retreating....

Phil directs Mark to fire upon the NCO. If we can't hit him due to cover, maybe we can at least prevent him from retreating.

Porcupine
John tracks the retreating NCO, thinking of all the times he's bagged rabbits and deer as they ran.
He fires one round, hoping he's lead the target enough.

He remembers one winter morning when he saw a rabbit running straight away from him. He'd placed the front sight of his shotgun between the tips of the rabbit's ears and fired- just as his father yelled Don't! His luck had been 100% that day- one pellet had gone through the rabbit's spine, and the rest had pulped its head.

Early Afternoon of January 6th, 1944; Monte Majo, Italy

The battle on the snow covered, rocky mountain known at Monte Majo, continued....

First, SGT John Porcupine ignored the German Rifleman across from him taking aim with his KAR 98 and moved his aim to his right; carefully leading the retreating German NCO with his M1 Garand rifle. A hissing buzz passed his ear, missing by inches, but the American NCO kept his attention on the German squad leader. He took a breath, let it go, and fired a shot. His .30-06 round just clipped the back of the German Sergeant's ribs and caused him to lurch and stumble a moment as he yelled out in pain....

Phil fed the belt of 7.92mm rounds into the MG 34 that Mark/Mike was firing at the German NCO running away. The NCO stopped and lurched in pain as something hit him and then they walked the rounds into German squad leader and ended him....

Newly promoted LT Chisholm took aim at the German Rifleman and right after he fired a round at Porcupine he lined up a burst and fired five rounds of .45 ammunition that stitched the German/Austrian solider all across the torso and dropped him unmoving to the ground....

On the opposite side of the Pillbox, SGT Tom Nado fired a burst from his Johnson LMG and put a 5 round burst into one of the pair of German/Austrian Riflemen and put down while next to him SGT Koda pulled the pin of a grenade and hurled it and then yanked Tom down just as the remaining Rifleman fired a shot that zipped thru the area Nado had just been standing in. A moment later, the grenade exploded and shredded the last member of the German/Austrian squad that had been threatening them.....

January 6th-9th, 1944; Monte Majo, Italy

The next 3 days were a seemingly never-ending series of attacks, counter-attacks, ducking down from shelling and then the whole process would be repeated.....

In the early evening of the 8th of January, the bone-tired members of the FSSF were finally relieved by the 133rd Regiment. As the weary members of SST 11 made the 4 hour long trudge down the mountain, they could see and hear how 'green' these troops were. They had canteens of water and bandoleers of ammo sloshing and smacking into things as they walked meaning poor discipline and they payed little attention to the sounds and terrain around them. The Forcemen mostly shook their heads as they walked down the mountain and finally were able to collapse in heaps in their tents as they reached the base of Majo. Some were able to stay awake long enough to get some hot food, others just shoveled some snow into their mouths as their canteens had run dry somewhere amidst the two day fighting and then collapsed into deep sleep....

Late in the morning of the 9th, a visibly angry Colonel Frederick had all of the men assembled and gear was hastily distributed. "Well men, Jerry has thrown off the 133rd from Monte Majo, after we spent the past two days taking it and holding it.....at least they were able to barely cling to Monte Vischiataro. Command is ordering us to once again take Majo. We've been promised to get some help as soon as tomorrow, but I don't want to give the Krauts any time to dig in further and make the job even tougher, so I'm sorry...but we're going to have to go right back into action. Colonel Gilday, you and 2nd Regiment are going to be in the lead and you'll have the Talents of SST 11 with you". "Yessir", replied the highest ranking Canadian officer in the Force.

Several hours later it was getting dark as evening was starting to set in and the Force had battled their way once again to the top of Monte Majo and the fight was in the balance when SST 4 finally all felt the strange Talents of a German Ubermenschen group coming their way. Pushing their way to one side of their lines, they saw a man 'blink' into existence a few hundred yards away with his arms wrapped around a pair of German soldiers. They all had felt and seen this particular Talent before....this was Karl/Carlo; the boyfriend of the young woman they had met in Naples! He quickly flashed out of the area as they all came into the clear and they saw the two German Talents he had 'deposited' utilize their abilities....

One belched forth a blast of whitish-blue frost that turned a number of rocks and boulders into ice, all right above/behind a trio of Forcemen who ducked down instinctively from the blast, not realizing it wasn't meant for them. Then the other Talent, a truly massive German solider, clapped his hands together and the frozen boulders and ice suddenly became an avalanche that swept the unfortunate trio down the side of the mountain. A moment later, from a position at least two hundred yards away, they saw that Karl/Carlo was ducking behind a boulder, holding a Rifle, but not doing anything with hit, but a Talent next to him moved his arms in a 'catapult' motion from behind his head and to the front and a massive boulder came flying out of the ground and slammed into a pair of Forcement that had been crouching down in cover near them....

Suddenly their part of the battlefield was clear....it was just the four German Ubers and them. The 'sound-clap' and 'ice blast' Talents were ducking down in some rocks, perhaps 50 yards away and the Teleporter Karl/Carlo and the 'Catapult' Talent were in a Sangar some 200 yards away.....

OOC: Okay, I'd like each of you to roll 1d6+2 to represent how much WPs have been spent over the past several days of near constant fighting and then a 1d3 to determine some remaining ammo (it's not necessarily 1-3 rounds remaining, but a lot of ammo has been spent in all this fighting)....
