Inventory updated, I already added a horse (I need to change up the horse information in the equipment...). Hmm, adding a pony would add more complexity, let me think about it... But maybe it makes sense...

Shaidar had a horse listed which is why I took one. I was thinking we could use the pony as our pack animal. they eat less and most are hardier then a horse, just can't carry as much but more than enough for what we need.

OK, make the same rolls for your pony. I've added space for it also.
Oh, and I discovered some wrong stuff with horse encumbrance and have fixed it.

I was planning on a horse for speed of travel more than anything, although this might be less of an issue in the swamp.
Rex, sorry I missed this, but are you suggesting we take no horses and just a pony to carry stuff.

I was suggesting we each have a horse and a pony for pack stuff. In reality a pony can travel just as far as a horse in a day it just can't carry as much, but they eat less and are usually tougher and better in rough terrain.

I don't know a huge amount about horses/ponies, but I gather a good max carry is 20% of their body weight.

Dex: [1d6+14]=4+14=18;[1d4+2]=2+2=4
Will: [2d6+6]=9+6=15;[1d4]=1
Alertness : [4d6k3]=13;[1d4]=4 ;[1d6]=1
Charisma: [2d6]=6

I know just enough to be dangerous, LOL. I grew up riding drought horses and work ponies on my sister-in-laws family farm in the mountains of VT and as a hunter have used pack animals some (horses, ponies, and goats). My preference for pack animals is actually goats which lots of hunters have gone to in the past decade or so. Out west horses and the like (ponies, mules donkeys) are vulnerable to mountain lions which as hunting of them has gone down have become more aggressive and attacks on animals much more common. I know 3 different hunters that have lost horses to mountain lions. Goats on the other hand can be pretty aggressive in there own right and will defend each other during an attack so mountain lions tend to leave them along. They are better in rough terrain and can eat nearly anything they come across. You have to have more but they behave like dogs, you don't even need to lead them like a horse, they just follow along and stay with you on there own. I am sure it has happened but I don't know anyone who has lost a goat to anything and I haven't read any stories of it happening either.

Once we get everything settled in, and you are actually out in the wilderness, you will want to move your gear around between carrying yourself, on your horse, or on your pony.
