Locke moves back to his table where Foulty sits and takes the seat opposite him engaging him in conversation and keeping his back to your group.

Kade gives both Vari and Ruskin and the three rangers head out in different directions. Kade slips into a seat near the bar and starts a conversation with some of the miners seated there. Vari moves to a table of miners, drink in hand and flashing a smile at several of the younger ones. Ruskin takes a seat at an empty table and pulls out a deck of cards which attracts several miners to his table for a game.

After Locke leaves, Liviel says softly to Wilwarin, "I think he has eyes for you. He's pretty easy on the eyes as well," she grins mischievously.

The trio of dwarves move to your table and the female of the group says, "I be Thrais Stonecroft and that red-haired bastard next to me, be me brudder Dewdrop." The brudder responses, "They calls me that, cuz when I hits someone they Dew Drop," he cackles through a set of broken and missing teeth. "Nah," Thrais interjects, "tis cuz me mudder said he was a blessin' when she had him one fine morn and he came into the world...like a wee drop a dew." The third dwarf puffs his pipe and through clenched teeth says, "I'm Dwalur Ironforge and tis my curse to work aside these two in Tallow's mines. Thanks for the drinks and tis good to see a kinsman in these parts. Is the rumors right that your hired by Tallow?" Thrais winks at Torvik, "Now ya gonna invite us to sit, or do I need ta arm wrestle ya for a seat?"

Torvik chuckles at Dewdrop's joke. He then greets the three "Well met Thrais, Dewdrop an Dwalur. Go ahead an take a see the lot o' ya. Aye yer correct mister Ironforge, Mister Tallow did indeed send us ere ta figure out what's goin' on and handle it." he chuckles at Thrais's mention of wrestling for a seat "Haha! Best be careful lass I just might take ya up on that." he gives he a wink "Been a while since I been with tha fairer of me kin." he then orders another round on Mr. Tallow's tab. "'Nother round o're ere please!" he tries to flag down they ever so nice serving girl.

Wilwayaisawén

After Locke leaves, Liviel says softly to Wilwarin, "I think he has eyes for you. He's pretty easy on the eyes as well," she grins mischievously.

Wilwarin suddenly finds her drink fascinating:

That has not been a subject of study, or practice, for me.

Recovering her composure:

Nonetheless, I think I would find him easier to relate to than the miners. I see Torvik and his people are making connections there. Perhaps, when Foulty leaves, I will ask what he had to say.

Rising:

In the meantime, I will see if I can make a connection to these workers of the mines we are about to explore. I have a few small magics, perhaps I can entertain with them.

Mave

Watches amused as the dwarven trio introduce themselves. Barely suppressing a giggle at Dewdrop and his sister, as they take the now vacated rangers seats, "I am Mave Gallowhawk, a pleasure to meet you and welcome. If I may be so bold, what exactly to you three do for Mr. Tallow?"

Thena

Missing the dewdrop reference entirely: Well met, I am Thena, crusader of Tempus. By all means sit down, drink your fill. If seating is benches Thena will scoot wherever to make some room. If you leave standing its not our fault...

In answer to Mave and Torvik's questions, Dewdrop responses, "We do as little as possible, and we do that quite well." Dwalur shakes his head, "Well maybe you do Dew. But Thrais and I were the mining engineers Tallow brought down from Hammerfall to shore up the mine, sorry humans don't know how to build a proper underground structure." He puffs again on his pipe, "We did a fine job too, no accidents since we came on the job, at least none till Malvue instructed Foulty to go behind our backs and dig that vein that led to that accursed tomb. If we'd been on the job, we'd have warned them about the unstable wall." He shakes his head at the foolishness of their actions, "Imagine having dwarven knowledge of mining at their disposal and just not makin' use of it."

Thrais arches a red brow, "A crusader of Tempus and rangers, looks like Tallow has brought out the big guns this time." She looks to Torvik, "Now what brought a handsome, strapping man like yourself out to of the Horn and back up the mountain. I bet you're homesick for the mountains."

Liviel rises and adds, "Not only that but he has a paladin of Kelemvor and a paladin of Lathander to boot. Now if you'll excuse me, I want to make sure my friend stays out of trouble." She moves to where Wilwarin has started doing some arcane tricks.

Wilwarin found gathering an audience was quite easy. The miners here were generally starved for entertainment and when a pretty elf is displaying her magical prowess, many eyes were drawn her way and she had soon attracted quite a few of the miners attention.

Torvik appreciates the compliment "I get plenty a time in tha hills, mountains and forest bein a ranger. I was sent on a mission by me commander ta gelp out an that eventually lead me ere. That an I think I sensed the prescense of me kin in this place. I couldn't leave an kin o mine in danger. That an who knew I'd meet a pretty dwarf ta boot." he says the last bit with a chuckle and wink at Thrais. He shakes his head and makes the sound on disapproval about the locals not making good use of their dwarf mining experts. "Yeah that be a shame, I find not everyone has tha sense ta use the advice of their experts when they aughta." he only pays slight attention to the magic show being performed nearby but mostly focuses on the conversation and Thrais.

Thena

Nodding as Dewdrop speaks: I have always found engineering of interest, very respectable sir. Regarding the breach of the tomb, I suspect Malvue was not without an agenda.... How open is the leadership of Hammerfall to visitors? Visitors not unlike the party you see before you? My thoughts are that we may visit there after our task in the mines is wrapped up.

"I agree with Thena, Malvue and perhaps Foulty had some kind of agenda or they wouldn't shirk the opinions of their hired experts. I would be suspicious of any information we receive from those two." She eyed Foulty across the room, an unpleasant man, and undoubtedly a pawn of Malvue if not a fellow conspirator.

Liviel watches Wilwarin with appreciation. She and the others had saved the woman's life and she meant to repay that favor. She had learned a few tricks during her magical schooling but was content to watch Wilwarin practice her art, similar and yet very different too. The miners who were gathered around her seemed entranced by her clever magicks.

Dew responds to Thena, "Aye, visitors are always welcome in the Hammer, even tall folk such as yerself, so long as they come in peace." Dwalur adds, "You haven't lived till you've seen the beauty of dwarven architecture. But why exactly are you planning on such a visit. Few make that trek who don't call it home?"

Thrais winks back at Torvik, in flirty manner, "So ya be psychic too then? Or do ya just sense when a pretty lass is about? A dwarf of many talents it seems."

Morwen is paying particular attention to Foulty, concentrating on the man above all else it seems while Athan seems to be a bit in his cups. The three rangers appear to be making friends with those not watching Wilwarin's display. Vari seems to be attracting several of young miners attention while Kade is buying drinks for others while Ruskin moves about the crowd pausing with one group for a few minutes before moving on to another.

Foulty downs a large mug of ale in nearly one gulp as he stands up at Locke's table and turns to survey the scene.

Wilwarin notices Liviel watching with gratitude. She has nearly exhausted her repertoire of entertainments, and is wondering how to translate the appreciative attention into useful information.

She catches Liviel’s eye, inviting her to take over.

If she assents:

I am a dancer, but my companion has music. Perhaps she might be persuaded to favour us with it?

Whether Liviel takes over or not, Wilwarin finishes her display and, hoping she has created a favourable impression, attempts to remember how to socialise.

At first, she just talks amiably, but once she has identified who among the miners is friendly, she invites them to share a drink and talk about the mine, and what the expedition might entail.

Thena

Not entirely sure how much she can trust Dewdrop at this point she replies: Why, to observe the engineering and architecture, of course. Torvik has spoken about it and set some high expectations. Also, not many can say they have visited such a place.

Torvik chuckles and nods his head "Aye! Many talents I've got. But that ain't one of 'em. So what do yah good dwarven engineers know bout this tomb? Cause I ain't bout ta go makin tha same mistake. I'm consultin tha experts in minin' and engineerin'. I wanna know what you know an avoid pitfalls." he gets a serious tone now a bit more focused on the real task at hand.

Keeps an eye on Wilwarin and Liviel lest the miners become too friendly but mostly just listens to the conversation trying to decide if she fully trusted the information she heard. Her eyes finally find their way back to Foulty. She doubted she could trust that one and would not put much faith in the map until she had seen it for herself.

Liviel grins at Wilwarin's introduction, "I don't know about a musician but I can hit a few notes when I concentrate," and with that she invokes a small cantrip and music comes from one nearby miner's stein as if it was a music box that plays a lively tune each time he grasps its handle. The miner jokingly asks if he drinks from the stein will the music come from his belly but Liviel reassures him to contrary.

One miner is diverted from the performance, a young blonde man of about 20 winters who introduces himself to Wilwarin as Joreth. The young man seems very interested in a private conversation with Wilwarin and is open to discussing whatever she wishes.

Thrais nods and smiles, pleased with his answer, "Dangers aplenty, that is true, but only because they pursued that vein without seekin' our opinion. The danged wall crashed into that cursed tomb in two different areas. One we easily shored up and resealed, so that none could pass either way. The other was more extensive and required us to rebuilt a wall and properly close the opening. But Malvue would have none of it. Said the orders of Mr. Tallow forbade we do more than a temporary seal. Then his ill-fated hirees went in and only two returned and they didn't last long. We're ta remove the seal again for you on the morrow I guess. Same for anything to happen to such a pretty face," she says to Torvik.

Dwalur puffs his pipe as he listens to Thrais, "If I was ta give ya advice, I'd say be ready for combat as soon as ya enter. Put yer best warriors up front," he glances from Torvik to Bryne, "You two look like ya can handle yerselves, but be cautious with each step. I can't vouch for anything beyond the temporary seal we set. You've adversaries to worry about, and them two that returned said they was vicious abominations." He points to his noggin, "And Torvik keep an eye on your surroundings. What lies beyond the seal was built as a tomb by tall-folk. They aren't wise like us ta underground construction. So be wary of your surroundings and what lies in them surroundings."

Dew downs an ale, "I'm just glad it ain't me goin' in there." Thrais laughs, "With yer face, you'd scare whatever lies beyond to death again."

Morwen, who has been silent for some time looks across to Torvik and says softly, "Foulty has evil in his heart." Foulty, standing beside Locke's table, looks first at the miners socializing with the recruits, Wilwarin and Liviel and then back at your table. And he starts walking back towards you as if Morwen's words have called him.
