Character Sheets
Re: Character Sheets
Modric- You may use standard weapons for now, but should you follow your deity faithfully, you think you might be able to use a Bow and Arrow someday. (That was Apollo's weapon)
NJWilliam- Alrighty, sounds like a plan. We're pretty close to being ready to start adventuring.

Re: Character Sheets
Good to go.
Re: Character Sheets
Oops. I forgot to tell each of you your Skill Points. Okay, so:
Rotten-7, and I don't think you have any intelligence bonuses.
Modric-8, and I don't think you have any intelligence bonuses either.
tkrexx-8, and I think your Intelligence is 15, so you get +2 for a total of 10.

Re: Character Sheets
And how do we spend those skill points?
Re: Character Sheets
I second that question.
Re: Character Sheets
Essentially, you get that many levels in certain skills. Let's say Tim the Thief had 7 Skill Points:
skill level
Theatrics: 2
Sketching: 1
Riding: 1
History: 1
Acrobatics: 2
This is a very basic example, but basically, you can divide your skill points up assigning levels to certain skills. The max level for a skill is 9. In order to gain levels in a skill, you must earn experience points in that skill greater than the current level by one. (So you need three points at level two to level up.) You earn said experience points by either rolling really well or really poorly on a percent roll pertaining to your skill. This represents that if you do something well, you keep in mind what you did, but if you do poorly, you learn from your mistakes. Sound good?
Edit: Just a bit of advice: Get as many skills as you can at lower levels, because it's easier to get them up to higher levels than it is to get new skills. In the end, you'll be glad you did. Unless you're going to be relying on a certain skill a lot at low level (like I did one time with Recruiting) it won't help you much to put more than one level into something.

Re: Character Sheets
If we start with weaponsmithing, fletching, or armorer, do we have a chance (however slight) to have already made an exceptional item?
Sebastian, A Candle in the Darkness
Ulrich, Tales of The Troll Company
Alex Fiord, The Rescuers
Hakon Geirmundarson, Pawns of the North Wind
Jameson Rowan, Silverband
Disston Symonds, Sigma Chronos

Re: Character Sheets
Do we need skills in weapons too?
Re: Character Sheets
NJWilliam-It depends on your level, but you can make a percent roll if you wish to determine that. I'd also allow you to have a work in progress item.
Modric- Nope, Weapon Proficiencies have you covered entirely. You could put a skill into something like Parrying, and potentially augment your combat potential. As a Cleric, you're probably going to want First Aid.
Also, you're allowed to take things which give you knowledge about certain things. Maybe you know a lot of stories about Dragons, and you have a level in Dragon Lore. When it comes to skills, it's all up to your creativity.

Re: Character Sheets
Ok, so there is no list of skills to pick from such as the non-weapon proficiency lists in 2e.
So I shall creatively pick skills that I deem useful to a fantasy setting?

Re: Character Sheets
Nope, there's no list. Although there's some things that should come as a no brainer to your character such as First Aid on the Cleric. And it would behoove you to choose skills which suit your character's functions. You're pretty much, like you said, choosing what would be helpful in a fantasy setting.
Re: Character Sheets
Oops, I was picking off the list from complete adventurer and such. I'll have to take a second look (though I'm keeping weaponsmith for sure).

Do what you must. And this is all coming together, so that we'll be ready to start soon.

Re: Character Sheets
Ruarc is good with his previously chosen skills.
Percentile roll for exceptional item (bastard sword): Ruarc - general percentile roll: [1d100] = 78
For a work in progress, how about a spearhead?

Re: Character Sheets
NJWilliam-Sorry, that isn't a good enough roll to have created a Bastard Sword. I'm fine with you having that Spearhead in the works. Also, what are the levels of each of your skills.
Unless I'm forgetting something, I think we're good to go on starting the campaign. Well, we're close enough at least. All four of you have done your Skills, correct?

Sounds good. And pertaining to your tribe, would you like to know a bit more about the area?
