Fydmar.

No, Five Finger Fillet is a competitive dagger game where you compete against your opponent to complete a number of dagger flourishes of increasing difficulty.

So in this game you provide a 3,4 & 5d6 vs Dex check. A pass is a clean round. For each point above your Dex you take a dagger nick on a finger. The winner is the one with most clean rounds or less nicks.

The pair have four daggers that they study. One a slim stiletto blade, obsidian handled and gilded with shimmering silver. The second is a larger ranger type knife, a heavy stabbing or cutting weapon with a serrated back edge. The third is a reverse grip Pikal style dagger, a short blade but curved with a long slashing edge and fine point for impaling opponents. The fourth dagger comes as a matching pair of bone hilted Kukri styled blades. The hilts can interlock to create a dual bladed weapon. With the way they are inspected, you might reason the guys value them and possibly they have more crafted traits than normal daggers.

take up the offer if you wish.

Sven pockets a poster, the black and white portrait fading, almost as much as the hopes of the smiling visage being seen again. The boy local to Helix, the concerned parents supply the kitchen of the Foul Pheasant with food stocks.

"He was last seen departing the Mercenary Guild but alone into the woods not with a group. Fascinated by stories of the wilderness. There is a reward I understand, for information." the barkeep says. "He had a companion friend, the butcher's apprentice, huge broad shouldered fellow. But he joined that outfit. Perhaps the missing lad felt he didn't quite measure up and struck out for himself?"

You can chat a bit about Helix, festivals and places. The reward of 50gp seems quite a sum (at least for low level characters). He gives you an extra flyer asking if you can post it on the village Bulletin Board.
Sven takes the extra flyer gladly, happy to assist the grieving family.

"I would be happy to help, sir. So if the lad's parents are in Helix, who is offering the reward of 50gp? That seems like a large sum for something such as this."

The Red Dragon

May 29th Evening Soirée.

Fydmar sees the chance to gain a unique weapon and some kudos, irked by the taunting rogue to challenge him to a duel of Five Finger Fillet, though if he loses, he risks becoming Four Finger Fydmar. Still other companions in the tavern and back in Helix have earned monikers, Stonewall and Diggler among them. What can go wrong when he totes agility greater than most. A small crowd of onlookers gather to egg on the two competitors.

Vasilev Dex challenge vs 16 [3d6]=10[4d6]=8[5d6]=11

Fydmar gets close, losing only six points, nicking his fingertips and thumb half a dozen rounds. Vasilev goes through the flourishing routines, stabbing between finger and outstretched thumb with precision and pace. The drink may have affected the dwarf's choice and certainly his coordination between eye and hand.

He loses.

"Eeny meeny miny moe. I'll take that fat little sausage finger." the rogue points at your left hand little finger.

Dougal, Durgo, Cadeweed & Orgoth engage in their own game, out drinking each other under the table. each provide a 4d6 vs Constitution please to see how drunk you get.

As this scene can develope a number of ways, actions please.

Cadeweed and Dougal provide a [4d6] Constitution check please with your post.

Orgoth seems unaffected by the copious amounts of alcohol consumed, 'stonewalling' once again as drinking companions begin to get wobbly legs around him. Durgo, full of zest and youthful endeavour is still nonetheless affected by the alcohol consumption and leans towards drunkenness as a ship might sail three sheets to the wind in a storm.

There is a storm brewing. At the other table, Fydmar chanced is arm at winning a dagger and losing the gamble, refuses to forfeit a finger.

Vasilev is outraged. "A bet is a bet. You could have chosen a dagger fair and square. I'll take a finger or a nose. Or perhaps a beard instead!" The rogue reaches across the table to grab Fydmar by his beard and pull him across the table. "Hold him down Clint, I am going to shave him a new one." The second man stands behind the dwarf to try and pin him by the shoulders.

As tankards of ale get knocked off the table to crash on the floor, the barman shouts up, "No spells, no weapons gentlemen!"

actions please everyone.

Orgoth

Not having payed much attention to the other table can't help but notice the chaos that ensues at the table next to his and a fight clearly starting. The words of the barman make it very clear what is going on. He stands and seeing the dwarf outnumbered and being grabbed from behind. He slips his helm on and tries to smash Clint with a roundhouse to the head.

Cadeweed

Cadeweed does not tend to over drink so this is out of character for him especially with all the work being done at the church.

4d6 Check against CON (11) - [_4d6]=(6+1+1+1)=9

Seeing that the action is way to crowded he will stay clear for the moment.

Sven stays away from all the punching, his hands instinctively reaching into his belt pouch.

He looks to the barman to see if he looks worried about the size of the fight. “What about spells that don’t cause any injuries?”

He holds his two hands together, fingers out, pressing them against his tilted head to make the universal sign for sleeping.

At some point during his stay in Ironguard, (probably after the tavern fight) Sven takes his large friend Orgoth to The Sphinx and Naga, hoping to have a friendly chat with any willing dwarves there.

The Red Dragon

May 29th 1066

Their first evening in the citadel, what could possibly go wrong? How about spending the next days wandering town looking like a resident panda or bandaged up like the Mummy you left behind?

Perhaps not, maybe you can escape with a few scuffed knuckles and be last man standing?

Durgo stumbles over, trying to pacify the man restraining Fydmar. He spins him around, leering loudly in Clint's face. The man swings a punch back but misses. Pulled by his beard across the table, Fydmar flails but fails to hit Vasilev who tries to cut his beard off. Before he can slice and dice however, Orgoth hits him with a haymaker that sends him barrelling into a wench carrying a tray of drinks that she spills over the fur cloaked barbarians, who lose grip of their own drinking horns, spilling that on the honeymooning gnomes beside them.

Mayhem ensues.
So, I am going to run this bar brawl using these simplified rules:

Roll a [1d6+ any Dex initiative bonus]. Higher scores act first. Describe your action and roll attack.

You can punch. Roll a to hit vs opponents head. Unarmoured AC10 - Dex - magic as appropriate. A hit scores +1hp damage+strength. Half is temporary damage, recovered at a point a round.

You can throw a combo: using dual-wielding rules, so the -2/-4 penalties adjusted by Dex & magic applies. Roll a to hit vs head AC, damage as above.

You can kick or knee: (elbow smash, kidney punch, however you describe). Roll to hit vs opponents torso, AC as applicable to armour class if armour is worn, + Dex & magic. Damage is +1hp plus strength. None is temporary.

Use bar stool: Lose initiative as you raise the stool but hit target area for d4+strength.

Throw tankard: Up to two tankards or hand held implements, (wine bottle, shoe) may be thrown. Use missile THAC0 to hit vs head. Damage is +1hp and possible effect (blinding temporarily, slipping, stun).

Cast a spell: any none offensive or damaging. (So no magic missiles but Shield, Spider climb, Sleep, Cures, Command, Bless, etc)

When a person is reduced to 0hp, they are knocked out. No character goes into negative hp, you just get unconscious and out the fight.
A barbarian rages, pushing aside the wench who slips on the spilled beers into Sven's lap.
He tries to signal going to sleep, but he looks just like a man having his prayers answered.

The irate gnome jumps on the back of the second barbarian who spins around trying to shake him off while little Miss Gnome bares her teeth and bites the man in the leg. He kicks her off, sending her flying into Cadeweed who is barged to land on the poker table, which upturns sending cards and coins to scatter on the floor.

The metal tray is picked up, "The drunk started it!" is the call and a tavern bouncer tries to bash Durgo over the head with it. -1hp & -1 to hit penalty for the next round.
after a few days rest in Helix, you should all be in Ironguard on full hp.

actions please.

Orgoth

Orgoth takes a swing at anyone who comes at him.

initiative [1d6]=6

Punch [1d20+1]=14+1=15 to hit 4 damage

Reminder he put his helm on first, AC 2, +1 to saves vs mind based attacks, including Command and Sleep.
