Dorath will press forward to get away from whatever is coming, but with a sachet of multi-colored sand gripped in his right palm.

Hopefully, I got that right. In either case, it was a 1, so as low as I can go!! :D

Harker attempts to force the door but it does not give on his first attempt...

Open Doors 11+ [1d20]=6

Initiaitive [1d10]=1

The door ...gave a little.. and the crack at the door jam made a rumbling from the floor within the room beyond.

Harker called out, "The Door is not locked or barred it is Barricaded... help me move it.. Quickly Now!"
"...you can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is Kill him."

The group of you mount the steps quickly, as the corpses in the Sountward corridor continue to beat against the door in utter madness and horror.

At the top of the stair, Harker tries to open the door, but it doesn't move despite the latch. He quickly puts his shoulder to the door as the sense of panic rises steadily in all of you, and the sound of the door below you creaks and cracks from the continued blows.

With a stout shove he forces the door. The loud 'THUD' of his effort is accompanied by the higher pitch of wood scraping against the floor. These sounds are immediately followed by the voice of someone beyond the door hollering. Paying no attention, but continuing his assault, Harker commands "The Door is not locked or barred it is Barricaded... help me move it.. Quickly Now!", and Conweena is quick to comply. They both rush at the door to give it another shove, but it moves more easily than they expected. From beyond the open door you can hear clearly another voice shouting loudly, at the top of his voice in an accent like those of the brigands you met in the caves not long ago "MASTER! MASTER VIVATINUS! THEY HAVE COME MASTER! YOU WERE RIGHT! MASTER, WAKE UP! THEY ARE HERE! THOSE AWFUL THEIVES HAVE CRAWLED OUT OF THE HALLS! THEY ARE HERE! MASTER WAAAKE UUUP! AAAARGH!"

Behind, on the stairwell, Pebble and everyone behind him aren't quite able to make the door yet. As they rush towards their escape a terrible sound comes from below. Anyone who happened to look can see several of the undead corpses have reached through the broken plank of the door, and they have grabbed the adjoining planks, ripping them wholly from the door frame with a terrible crash! They begin flooding into the chamber below like an unholy tide, too quickly to be counted!

In terror you all rush towards the door, hoping the undead horde summoned by the evil runes on the bloody floor do not follow.

Above, Conweena and Harker are confronted by a man dressed similarly to the others that were waiting in the caves with Lady Alant where you found them. He is wearing cured leather armor over a stained doublet with pantaloons torn off about mid-calf, but the surcoat he would normally wear is laying draped over a chair. His left arm holds a shield for a guard. At the table are two oil lamps, and their flame illuminates the room, though not overwell.

It is clear they were waiting for you. They had shoved the bed against the door as a make-shift barricade, and he must have been resting on it, waiting for you to shove the door open waking him in the process, which is what you've done. Now he is alarming his master the wizard above, but more importantly charging at you with a very sharp falchion! He is not fully awake yet, and in spite of this is overly excited to boot, so his first attack is wild.

Harker and Conweena get their regular attack. Everyone else will get an attack on the next round. Let me know where you want your token. The map grid marks 10 feet.

I should probably mention; the group you met with in the cave discussed a brother who had been charmed by the wizard in the passages. They were hoping they could rescue him. This is most likely that victim. Bonus points if you can overcome this dupe without totally murdering him, even though he is under no obligation to pull his punches for you. Also, the wizard is certain to appear sooner than later with all the noise.

Harker actually ignores the man raising his shield to deflect his clumsy swung falchion trusting Coweena to subdue the charmed victim and instead darts for the table with the two oil lanterns. Snatching one up one of the lanterns he runs back to the door and ushers his companions in preparing to hurl the lamp and its burning oil contents onto the stair to set it ablaze with its oil and flame upon the approaching undead. He will catch Dorath by the shoulder to gain his assistance in pushing the bed back into place to barricade the room...once he has hurled the lamp...

"Dorath help me reset the barricade...let them burn!!!"

Pebble gawks at the undead that vomit into the room below. He pushes into the upper room and ignores the crazed man and looks to use what he can to barricade the stairs!

dorath puts his strength to the task Harker laid out for him, pushing the bed back against the door, and then looking for anything else heavy to toss on it!

Harker charges across the room, dodging the wild swings of your shouting assailant, and grabs one of the crude earthen lamps (did I mention they were pottery or metal?).

In the stairwell, Igber looses a stone at the blasphemous creatures, and Traesta invokes Paldon's power of protection from them, but the tide of bodies is too powerful, and they simply keep filing the cellar. There are too many to count. The scene most resembles swarming insects, but composed of foul rotting corpses instead. If Igber's stone hit one, or had any effect, it will never be known. The thick tide of corpses soon smothers the fire that you had kindled with the oil, and the rest of the party escapes the stairwell in darkness and black smoke that now reeks of singed flesh.

Once in the room, Dorath and Pebble set about trying to re-barricade the door, while Conweena and the pirate dance with their weapons, but the lad is unable to find an opening in Conweena's defense. she returns the strike, attempting to brain him with the side of her axe, but he is also too swift for her awkward attack. He swears an uncouth exclamation, and continues calling for his Master.

Pebble starts shoving the table towards the door, but Harker is there first with the oil lamp. He throws it on the stone steps hard, and the pottery shatters spreading oil which instantly ignites. In the flash, Harker sees the cellar is filled with undead. A few have started climbing the steps, but they seem uninterested in leaving the floor of the cellar. If there was any interest, certainly the fire near on the upper courses will dissuade them, at least for a while.

With that task accomplished, Harker slams the door, and Dorath and Pebble shove the bed against it, followed by the table. Both of you realize the way they tore through the door, there is not enough furniture in the room to hold them at bay for long should the dead wish to emerge from the cellar. Conweena and the pirate continue to seek an advantage over their opponent. Footsteps can now be heard from the rafters above, hurried and unconcerned about stealth.

Pebble strains to make sure the barricade stays shut. He glances looks over his shoulder to see what the rest of the group is deciding to do.

Igber
The attraction seems to be whatever spell was painted on the floor in blood. Those that come up will be accidents I think. I can't see the Necromancer wishing to fend off his own creations

Igber then draws sling, and using its leather as a trap between his hands, joins in the fight - seeking to entangle the Pirate's arms or legs and pinion the poor dupe.

Having at least pushed the bed back into the barricade... Harker moves toward the stairs leading up from which the rapid footsteps of the conjectured Wizard is approaching hurriedly.

Harker takes the moment to Detect Evil searching for a source of evil up the steps and through the wooden ceiling which is not 3'ft thick wood he is certain. The party has assumed the Wizard here is evil... but Harker wants to know he is evil... Or not before arbitrarily resorting to violence!

In either case he hefts his shield and sword and charges up the steps ~ to perform a shield rush on anyone moving down the steps. A mostly non-lethal but potentially VERY disruptive to spellcasting...!

Initiaitive [1d10]=3

Attack w/Shield charge {+2} maneuver [1d20+2]=3+2=5
