Finver holds his war hammer eagerly at the ready but initially has no clear target to attack from the rear, "Let me in there and I'll cover tha walls with their green goo!"

Noticing Maskelyn withdraw from the front line, Finver moves up to sneak in aside Fiefo with an attack on ?3 the slime creature opposite the Rat-man.

Finver attacks in melee with two handed war hammer [1d20+2]=10+2=12 doing [1d6+2]=4+2=6 of bludgeoning damage

Caveman Dwelling near the Starfall, Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Night. Friday, April 13th, 912 CY

Image

A flashfire of the adventurers' making consumes three deformed things of ooze and bone! The stench of roasting slime and cadavers is almost unbearable.

Beyond the veil of flames, two more arrows suddenly bloom from the misshapen chest of a lurching atrocity (?11), late of Connak's bow! A bullet from Mungo's sling also hurtles through the fire, striking another half-formed horror! (?7) Both heinous things live!

Fiefo slashes his scimitar at the pyre-like creature in the inferno (?3) but jerks his hand back from the blistering heat! Draupadi and Ko-nan regrip ax and mace in anticipation of anything surviving the flames! Maskelyn backs away and Finver fills the gap, his great dwarf-hammer bludgeoning the burning monstrosity to death! (?3)

The other shambling abominations stagger back from the blaze. With only bare rock to feed the fire, the adventurers know the oil will soon be gone and with it, their flaming barrier!

Suddenly, from the south, a gurgling shriek heralds the arrival of slime-covered walking corpses from outside! (S3, S4)

Finver turns revulsed from the splatter of slime, sighting the enemy that approaches from their rear over his shoulder."Behind us!!" he shouts with alarm, repeated thrice in a growing tone of anxiety.

He steps back from the blazing curtain and hurries around to interpose himself between the two slime creatures to their south and Maskelyn and Drapaudi. He snarls clutching his shield and charges at full running speed towards the lead slime creature in an attempt to knock it down, attempting to send it clambering back into the one behind it.

Just getting creative and not sure this is possible, or how you want to adjudicate this... I did this in another game once and it worked. I called it bowling for bad guys. :D

Ko-Nan surveys the burning filth with satisfaction. At the cry from behind - and the fire still providing a barrier to further slaughter - he charges these new intruders!

Mungo's keen moleman sense of smell is highly offended by the odor of burning partially-formed slimemen. He takes a flask of oil from his pack, pours the contents on the fire, and rather frugally stows the empty flask. Stupid slime things, that was supposed to be for my headlamp, he grumbles.

Maskelyn
Maskelyn glances from one group of slimes to the other. Uh-oh... Duck, Rabbit. He moves toward the stairs on the West side of the cave, trying to watch both groups at once.

Connak sends two more arrows at his same target. "Quick! Does anyone have more oil?!?!" he yells as he sees two party members running off to the new threat. A little stressed, didn't see that Mungo was already on it.

Caveman Dwelling near the Starfall, Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Night. Friday, April 13th, 912 CY

Image

Slime-smothered human carcasses, in different stages of forming, assail the stranded explorers of Xygax's Island!

Retreating, Maskelyn observes them. Could their gurgling shrieks be some form of language?!

Mungo feeds more oil to the fire wall, and flames climb the stream up toward the flask in his hand! (Please make a DEX check on 1d20 and post your action regardless of the result!)

Connak's arrows fell a groaning sludge creature beyond the barrier of flames! (?11)

Draupadi holds her position as Fiefo, Finver and Ko-Nan charge the dripping horrors to the south! Finver barrels into them with all his might and the first monstrosity topples! (S3. Finver, please Save vs Poison on 1d20 and post your action regardless of the result)

Before it can stand, Fiefo and Ko-Nan make short work of the prone atrocity! (S3)

The other wet, shambling calamity (S4) lunges at Ko-Nan the barbarian with a preternatural strength! (5hp damage. Please Save vs Poison on 1d20 and post your action regardless of the result)

Ko-Nan reels from the blow - but quickly recovers and uses his great strength to heave the foul abomination backwards. He follows through with a mighty over head blow! His axe circles high overhead and, with both hands tight on the haft, slams down to cleave the creatures skull of slime!

[1d20]=7 > 8 Saves vs Poison
Finver just barely fails his poison saving throw! Doh!!

The impact of Finver colliding with the lead creature sends slime splattering in all directions. Finver releases a victorious guffaw, mocking the hideous thing on the ground before him. He unharnesses his war hammer for a finishing blow, unaware of what risk he undertook with his bravado.

Finver attacks in melee with two handed war hammer [1d20+2]=11+2=13 doing [1d6+2]=4+2=6 of bludgeoning damage

Mungo's rather tiny and quite beady eyes struggle to adapt to seeing through a wall of burning cooking oil and and thicker wall of magical fog. By Jules and Orson or Dawn (forgive me if I blaspheme by calling you by your first names, O dieties! he cries. Maskelyn has performed a tactically advantageous screening of our movements from the enemy!] He pans his headlamp left and right, hastily appraising the situation. The moleman cleric stows his sling, draws his forge hammer, and hastens to join Fiefo, Finver, and Ko-Nan in their attacks on the jellies to the south!

Not sure if a move of 60' and an attack at the end is possible this turn. I would vote for Yes, because the attack is a crit! ;) (Kind of doubt the rules allow it for little Mungo, though).

Mungo sees Finver's arm splashed with the disgusting green goo of a repulsive dead slime skeleton. He takes mental inventory of what he has in his pack, large sack, and small sack. And finds that what he needs in none of them. He unstoppers his waterskin and mightily squeezes it to squirt a stream of water onto Finver's arm. Then takes his bedroll from his shoulders and wipes it down. I hope that works? he mumbles, a little uncertainly.

Finver breathes a gleeful sigh of relief, "Thank ya, ol' Mungo. I don't feel a bit of pain from it. Tha first good news is, it's probably not acid. And fer more good news, it doesn't sprout a couple new appendages outta me. So, as long as I don't start drippin' green goo, and turnin' all skeletal, I think we're good ta keep goin'.."
