Game finds: information & items discovery log

#1 Post by Nordbo »

Here will be listed an updated log of clues, information and plot hints that the party has picked up so far during this adventure, that may be partially complete, immediately helpful, point in some direction, connect some dots, need further research or be irrelevant.
The list can also include unidentified, magical or puzzling items the characters have found but not yet tried out, their potential use and effect therefore as yet unknown.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Korin, Tiny, Thorelf and Eaton were jailed by bandits, led by Klov, for reasons as yet unknown.

In Klov's room, Eaton found a scribbled note:
Highport - five slaves.
Odo - one.
Klov
The late Paxon told Thorelf "we were brought here by boat" (see also dying Chav below)

The late Vivella was spotted recovering a book in Klov's room, and then quickly hide it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the late Vivella, "some sort of spring or well seeps through the floor in the" water filled hall. When wading in the hall, Thorelf noticed that the centre area seemed darker than the surrounding surface and caught a glimpse of bubbles there. Later, the group heard a hollow, flushing sound from the same direction.

Thorelf was surprised by a spell-casting sorceress appearing in an opening high up in the water filled hall. She and the opening then disappeared. He now thinks she might have been Krooda (see below).

Two enemies that the group fought in Klov's chamber, issued the following threats to Korin "You! Will end up in the pool! With the others!!", and "Yessss! Chained and sunk, with the others!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Out in the cavernous quayside area, the group sees a huge barred portal decorated with skeletons round a flame, and an openable portal decorated with skeletons surrounding a water spout.
Eaton remembers tales of Al-Yez, a cult priest who worshipped 'The perpetual flame', and disappeared with a band of followers a few years ago. A wrecked barge for transporting dead to cult centres discovered later seems to support this theory.
An enemy later claimed that "Al-Yez ? Pah! His god was dead, his followers too. We just helped him....fit slightly better in with that concept! Last I saw, he was taking a dive. A deeeep dive." and, to Eaton (who has lost his mace), said "And he took your mace with hiiiiiimm...."

Along the waterfront, some of the stone slabs paving the ground are slightly askew, and cracks can be seen in the foundations and staircases as if caused by some mighty force.

In the night, Thorelf spotted lizard men sneaking around the cultish portals.

While sleeping, Tiny dreamt of enormous wealth - gold and treasures that suddenly fade away again, in a cloud of sand. In their place appear men, seemingly made of sand.....

In one of the watchtowers along the cavernous lake, Thorelf found a crumpled black/purple sachet branded: Vapor of Violacea (see also below).

He also found a shiny large strong nail, recognised by Korin as being a fabled Spike of Sufflanimation - an enchanted nail with disproportionate powers.

In another tower, Korin found a metal jar labelled "Troll Wax". Thorelf took it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Behind the 'water portal', the group found undead who lay unmoving - until they were disturbed, that is. Not the usual behaviour of zombies and ghouls.

This is also the first time the group hear a faint, slight swooshing sound in the background, coming from nowhere in particular. Like soft wind rustling through branches - but much fainter. This phenomenon has repeated several times after this, in different places.

A group of 'chavs' are encountered in a room 'north' of the undead. They may be (connected to) the jailers or not. They may be the gang who chased Richard away from Krooda, or a different group. They tell the group that "the Svarts" are elsewhere. To Thorelf, the leader also hints that the area has already been completely looted of all treasure.

A group of hobgoblins were found torturing a winged creature that escaped and has not yet been found or identified.

In a junk room, the party found a map of what looks like waterways leading away from the 'quayside watch towers'.

Later, the rediscovered 'chavs' have now been slaughtered by hobgoblins. The last survivor gasps ."Itshhh him. HIM!" pointing towards Richard. "Take him...in the boat....our boat...coming shoooonnn. " then dies. He carries a small wooden tube - half the size of a regular scroll case. Inside the tube is a written note, that says:
Faux wizard. Impostor - knows location. Alive
Avoid Vapor; lethal.
5-10 Svarts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a wrecked funeral barge near the quayside is found:

1 x ornate golden goblet
1 x small stoppered flask containing a shimmering, silvery-ish half-transparent liquid.
1 x calabash, stoppered
1 x silver arm band

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An enemy emerging from the 'roaring room' hints that Richard might have 'gone up in smoke' if he'd stayed with Krooda any longer.

A sweet smell, that Richard recognises as connected to Krooda, and occasionally refers to as "The Vapour" sometimes floats through corridors.

Richard says he saw Krooda in the pool room; but she is not there anymore. The party heard someone flee.

The ashes in a pot that Tiny finds in the pool room, reminds Richard of how Krooda would joke that he might 'disappear in a puff of smoke'.

In the pool room, Eaton finds small a sachet with a stylish purple-black trade mark saying "Vapor of Violacea".
