Re: Erillion OOC
Ok, I ran the numbers (sorry for the delay).
Currently, the city of Gont has 2 non-combatants for 1 gp each and 4 bowmen (mace, bow, lthr) for 7 gp each.
It's not much, better luck next time.

At 1 gp each, they are definitely poor quality (6cp/day)...They are taking dangerous work at or below the bread line!
At 7gp each the bowmen are earning just over 2sp/day. At least they can afford food!
I'd suspect that both groups would expect us to provide food (on top of pay) while away from the city.
From the statements above we could take one bowman - and we'd have to find supplies quickly. Or we take two porters and invest in some rations, torches and a fire-pot.
Re: Erillion OOC
I think a reasonable expectation is all their needs are catered for, accommodation, food, resources, etc. Otherwise they might fail morale and loyalty tests under pressure.

Re: Erillion OOC
How about split the difference and get 1 porter and 1 bowman and buy some rations, etc. I could throw in 2 gp.
Or at least the 2 porters.
Incidentally, did anyone get silvered weapons?

Re: Erillion OOC
No silvered weapons. I can pitch in 3gp, that leaves me 2gp. She also has 6 days rations for herself.

Re: Erillion OOC
I looked it up again, and the pay is per expedition, which are not likely to last a month. This was unclear earlier, I apologize.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 10:48 pm At 1 gp each, they are definitely poor quality (6cp/day)...They are taking dangerous work at or below the bread line!

As an unrelated item, each coin weighs in at about 2 troy ounces - so a 1gp coin is (in today's terms) about £2500. Thus 1sp is about £250.

Nobody said that gold coins are pure gold. Let's not drag real world economics into a fantasy game.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 9:47 am As an unrelated item, each coin weighs in at about 2 troy ounces - so a 1gp coin is (in today's terms) about £2500. Thus 1sp is about £250.

OK - Lets try fantasy economicsLance wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:45 amNobody said that gold coins are pure gold. A Donkey is 8gp
It will weigh between 80 and 480kg so between 1sp and .2sp per kg. Cool Carcase weight is about 50% of that so donkey meat is between 2sp and 0.4sp/kg. Perfectly consistent with the food prices for rations. All is good!
Whatever you do, don't use the mule for food though.
Re: Erillion OOC
In an emergency the mule as food is perfectly legit.

I have eaten horse, tastes like most red meat, I doubt mule is any different.

Re: Erillion OOC
So...Back to hiring underlings.
As an Elf, I'd obviously prefer Elves but for the good of the party, I'm happy to fund a Human Bearer/Skivvy.
Lance, I'm assuming that such a Bearer gets to stand at the back/middle and cowers manfully when things go wrong.
Does the poor person have a name?
I'm assuming pitiful stats.
Anyone else hiring anyone?

Yes, they do not engage, and thus have no stats.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 10:23 am Lance, I'm assuming that such a Bearer gets to stand at the back/middle and cowers manfully when things go wrong.

Name's Adras. Helpful, easily frightened, likes fried food.

Somewhat like Planchet in the 3 musketeer's film! Easily frightened but still appears in dangerous situations.Lance wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 1:34 pmYes, they do not engage, and thus have no stats.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 10:23 am Lance, I'm assuming that such a Bearer gets to stand at the back/middle and cowers manfully when things go wrong.

Re: Erillion OOC
I pitched in 3gp to help with hirelings/supplies.
Re: Erillion OOC
I can contribute 3 gp, 7 sp.
I was wondering why I had over 50gp left after buying gear- I suddenly realized I'd bought leather armor as a 'placeholder' armor, and then not upgraded after I'd bought the rest of my gear.
