Eodrien moves up next to Des. "Let's see if we can roust out some business at the inn. We don't have a lot of coin left."

The cheeky lass stops to flirt a bit with the guard, and then takes his advice and stables Naysayer before heading out to the inn for a meal.

Frank who has been quietly riding along with you says, "Let's stable our horses and go get a drink. Do you fancy "Beer on Tap" or "The Last Plate and Spoon?"
The stables will look after you mounts and feed them for 5 coppers a day, 3 silvers a week, or 1 gold a month.

"After we eat," Eodrien replies. "I'm hungry, and I don't want to drink on an empty stomach."

Re: (005) On to Elsburg
As Darian trudges into town his first stop is the stables where he prices a donkey...why that's most reasonable!!! A donkey can be had for 8 gp!
He walks across the street and down one door from the Blacksmith to a Cartwright's shop where he discovers a cart is only 15 gp! Why this is much cheaper than buying a riding horse/mule and tack for it!
The cart you are shown has a buckboard where a driver and passenger can sit and an open space behind over the two large wooden wheels where you can put goods or people. You are told that the cart with a donkey can haul about a ton of weight. The cart and donkey aren't going to break any speed records, but at a normal traveling pace it won't fall behind horses. It might have some problems if the party goes "off road" in their travels, but the cart is well built and sturdy.
8 gp Donkey
15 gp Cart
23 gp for both, same to board as the horses from above.
Now, Darian is ready to find that drink Frank was going on about.

Frank pats his stomach and says, "I can't argue with that! So, The Last Plate and Spoon for a meal? Find a place to stay, maybe, and then seek out an ale or two."
"Didn't you mention seeking out the hobbit's Master to say hello?" Frank asks turning to Darian, "Do you want to do that right off or try to get settled first?"

"All right, then," Eodrien chuckles. She steers her horse for the stables, where she will arrange boarding for a week's time.

Except for Darian, who walked to Elsburg, hated it, and immediately bought a donkey and cart once he arrived in town.terrymixon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 8:49 pmThanks.joertexas wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 8:45 pmWe purchased the horses, and then we rode into Elsburg.terrymixon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 8:42 pmOOC: My brain is fried. Callista will essentially go with the flow of the rest of the party for the most part, but, frowning slightly as she considers the current lightness of her purse, she'll also accompany Eodrien and Des to the tavern in their pursuit of more work.

Re: (005) On to Elsburg
The party walks up the busy street filled with dark half/elves (The Word), humans and other races past several stores. From the signs there is a hardware store on the left across from Dan's Metalworks and further up the street a big general store on the right and a cobbler advertising Boots on the left.
The Last Spoon and Dish is a three story building made of stone with wood for the top two floors on the corner of the two main streets in Elsburg. To the left you can just see the Market Square where Master Ross has set up his goods for sale, beyond the square you see the walls of the inner Keep complete with tower. More shops and stores are along the sides of the streets. You also see a Temple of Sunna (god of waters) and behind it towering over it is another building...you think it is a temple or church, but can't tell from where you are....near another gate that would lead on further west toward the Dismal Swamps.
The double doors of The Last Spoon and Dish are open and you can hear music coming from inside. Stepping through into the well lighted interior you are in a foyer with a private eating hall to your left and a much larger public room to your right. A counter is in front of you with stairs rising up to the upper floors next to the counter.
A Word man with skin the color of caramel, white hair and green eyes is standing behind the counter.
"Welcome friends to The Last Spoon!" he greets you with a smile showing slightly pointed canine teeth, "My name Dithralian and I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you ere now. Are you with the caravan selling its wares in the Market Square, or travelers new to our town?"
As he speaks to you, you glance into the almost empty private room and see it there are four people seated at tables eating, and then into the much larger and much more filled public hall where lively music, singing and much carousing is going on. You can't see much from the foyer, but you can see there are tables in the Public and food and drink are being consumed there as well . You note a sign on the lintel above the stairs that says "ROOMS." and next to it is "5 silver each night."
"As you can see we serve food here, and we offer clean and comfortable rooms as well." Dithralian says smiling again, "How may I server you this morning?"

"Certainly, we have the Private dining room, this way." Dihralian steps from behind the counter and over to the closed door to your left.
Opening it he gestures for you to enter, "Choose a table and I'll send in Sarigilian, my daughter, to take your orders."
