I dont remember anyone actually messing around with it much, but you could guess that, since it seals to the wearers head to prevent gasses form entering, it is probably a little better than our modern welding helmets.

You have a little different vision with it on as well. Things look much clearer through the colored visor. (Blue Blockers for the win!)

The group decides to take the advice of their leader and stay on the submerged path that leads to the jungle's edge.

After a good few hours of walking through the ankle deep water, they reach the outer edge of the massive swamp unchallenged.

Other than having far fewer bugs around, the jungle forest seems as normal as it was when they arrived here initially, giving no indications as to how long the group were inside the strange darkness and the alternate smokie world.

Several hours remain in the day before darkness will set in.
