Jrec can watch Ringer and figure out the basics. Air/rafts are fairly simple. If you run into problems, there the others to ask.

You (all) can decide how long the shifts last.

Jrec

Jrec volunteers to take a shift at the end of the roster, once he's had a chance to watch over peoples' shoulders and learn the basics.

Having been second officer, Madox is used to the late shifts so he will tuck himself in and take a nap till he is needed to pilot the raft.

Giotto could also take a watch at the controls, but he also does not have Air/Raft skill.

OCC @ GM: I am assuming the air raft has a decent autopilot, can it be presumed safe that each watch babysits the autopilot and if there is an issue anyone w/o the relevant pilot skill can wake someone with that skill?

Yes, the air/raft has a good autopilot. Given the distances between civilization and the station, no one would want actually be "driving" the entire time. Especially if they were hauling around "unique" living cargo.

Question: When will you decide to take a break? It is a long trip, and everyone will need to get out and walk around at some point. Discuss it, and if possible, indicate where you will land. :D

OCC: I think the best first place to set down would be the southern low lands on the main continent to the north. Thoughts?

If I'm reading the maps right, travelling for at least 12 hours at 80kph might just about get us to the main continent. (Assuming I'm right :? ) I'd suggest we aim for the closest point and set down as soon as we're over dry land.

I agree, it's probably the safest and quickest point at this time.

Thank you. I will plan your stop accordingly. From here, we have left the book setting, and events are up to me. Give me a day to think about it. My next post will mid-day Thursday, PDT. See you then.

A bit of retcon here...

I looked at my map again, and decided that the on-board navigation system plotted the first two legs as are on the map.

Leg 1: "you are here " will put the air/raft down on a flat area on another island. The island is listed as uninhabited, and looks like Iceland, minus volcanoes (cold, rugged, some snow on higher areas). Everyone can get off the air/raft to stretch your legs and make a very brief pit stop.

What are you going to do?

Ringar

After the stretch he will continue to take his watches as they fly north.

Jrec

Jrec will get out to stretch his legs and get some fresh air. He'll take his firearm just in case any of the local wildlife turns out to be agressive.

Chiree and siblings ask if they may get out for a few minutes. They have been inside the "animal containment cage" and are having flashbacks of their kidnapping. They will be grateful for the fresh air and solid ground.

Chiree looks up at Jrec, and says, "I thank all of you for rescuing my nestmates. Will you tell someone about the terrible things done in there?" He points back at the station.

The pitstop proves uneventful, as this island is a cold barren rock.

Are you ready for the next leg of the flight?

Madox talks a short walk around to stretch his legs before returning to the Air/Raft.

Jrec

"Yeah," Jrec replies. "We'll make sure plenty of people know about it. The people responsible will be punished." The ex-marine grips his gun. "If it was up to me, I know what I'd do..."

Ringar nods at Jrec's comment. He'll relieve himself on the island and then jump back in the raft. Anytime your all ready.

Chiree and the other two chirpers climb back into the holding chamber.

And... you are off on Leg 2, which will put you on the continent. You do run into turbulence after you get closer to land. There is no steward to hand you a pillow or barf bag.

Everyone make a roll versus your Endurance to find out how well you deal with the air/raft's movement.
