Chapter 4:Fast Forward

Giotto finds and copies the most important, and damning, information to the memory sticks. He finds files on the crew history, and and he notices how the number has decreased over time. He also discovers who might be running the station:

A certain Professor Sir Gnetus Vicervis (apparently 102 y.o.!) was assigned to the station when it was first built. He originally was the assistant director, but after the director died of natural causes, he was promoted to his present position. He has gradually released all the other researchers and now continues the working on the project alone.

Giotto finds the age of the Prof. to be unnatural, and suspects that Vicervis might be using anagathics* to extend his life.

What do you do now?

Jrec and Maddox are able to get a hole cut into the vault door. However, it is not quite big enough for any of the party to get... wait...

At that point Jrec, Maddox, and Ringar all turn and look at Chiree.
Why do you look at me like that?
he says, with his big eyes wide open, and looking slightly frightened.


What do you do?

Jrec looks at the other two. He shrugs. "I'm good with it if you are. We didn't come all this way to give up now..."

Ringar

Heh, Chiree, would you mind going inside that hole and grabbing whatever is inside and handing it back out?

[SpinwardMarch]

Chiree

I think I can get through the hole. I will need light. You won't leave me in there? He looks up at the men with fear in his large eyes.

[spanningtree]

Ringar

Handing Chiree his lamp: Hey little buddy, I am not going anywhere without you. Worry not.

[SpinwardMarch]

Chiree

He looks up at Ringar, Thank you. He takes the flashlight and carefully crawls through the hole in the door.


You three watch him go into the vault.

Meanwhile...

Giotto finishes copying the incriminating files from the computer.

Anyone going to do something while Chiree is looking around?

Maddox is maintaining his spot outside the vault door in case that robot comes back.

"The professor probably knows we're here. I reckon he's hiding out. Did anyone see an internal address system in the control room back there? We could put out a station-wide call to him. Tell him we just want to talk. Make some kind of a deal with him".

Made a promise he intends to keep and stays at the vault, keeping an eye out for baddies though.

One of you will remember that there is indeed an internal intercom in the main communication room.

Meanwhile, Chiree will be exploring the vault. He first finds what appears to be a cash box, and hands it out to Ringar. If Ringar looks in the vault, he will be able to help Chiree remove other things.

What do you do?

Chiree can pass it to Ringar who can pass it to Maddox. We can look at everything once we have all we can remove from the vault.

"There's something I wanted to run by you guys too. It's one thing to free Chirree's people. They live here. This is their world."

"But what about all the others this Professor is experimenting on? What are we going to do with them?"

Helps Chiree clear the contents of the vault.

In response to the question: I don't know, some of the containment areas are not even our atmosphere.... I am not sure how involved we should get.

You remember the information Giotto downloaded. You might want get that information to authorities, after you leave.

Releasing all the inhabitants in the globes would indeed be a bad idea.

Rifles through whatever Chiree is handing out of the vault.

When you look in the box Chiree brought out, you find it contains several credit sticks, and two gold coins. One coin is engraved with a flame, similar to the one Chiree had. The other coin is engraved with a creature much like Chiree.

The coins are stored in small plastic holders and have an information sheet stored with them. When someone reads the sheet, you find out they are called "coyns," and are artifacts found in an Ancient site on Knorbes in the Regina sector. The sheet also states that the coyns are used for some sort of function similar to tarot cards.

There are other things that Chiree finds in the vault, but none of them are significant.

Giotto checks the balance on the cred sticks, and finds they are worth Cr123,000 (Imperial currency).

After finding these goodies,

Regarding the cred stick: Nice! Let's get Chiree's family and get the hell out of here Ringar starts to head for the elevator.

Edit: Ringar will grab the cred stick and gold coyns if no one else does.

Jrec shrugs."It's what we came to do." He looks at the others. "Any reason we shouldn't?"

If nobody comes up with an alternative plan, Jrec follows Ringar.
