1. Drop luck down to 40
2. Set your Core Attribute at 95 (see Archetypes starting on pg 15 of Pulp Cthulhu)
3. Allocate the remaining points as you see fit
   • Keep in mind the average human values are as follows (CoC Invest. HB pg 46):
     • STR 50
     • CON 50
     • SIZ 65
     • DEX 50
     • APP 50
     • INT 50
     • POW 50
     • EDU 70 (bachelors degree)
4. Then manually (on the charsheet) set initial Luck at 65

NOTES:

• Locksmith Flaw: Do not allocate any points to Locksmith until you get to personal interest otherwise, you lose those points.

MANUAL CharGen – Point Buy
Step One: Choose a Pulp Archetype

• Take note of your Archetype’s Primary Skills
• Take note of your Archetype’s Core Characteristic

Step Two: Generate characteristics (Point Buy)

• Distribute 510 points
  • The Core Characteristic can be as high as 95
  • No other ability can be higher than 90
• Luck: Starts at 65
• Sanity: Equals your POW
• Hit Points (HP): (CON + SIZ)/5
• Magic Points (MP): POW/5
• Damage Bonus & Build (Table 1, pg 23): STR + SIZ then lookup on Table 1
• Movement Rate (Table 2, pg 23): Compare DEX, STR, SIZ then refer to Table 2

Step Three: Determine Pulp Talents (pg 23)

• Choose either:
  • (2) Pulp Talents
  • (1) Pulp Talent & (1) Experience Package (Investigators HB pg 61)

Step Four: Determine Occupation

• Calculate Skill Points
• Take note of your Credit Rating range
• Take note of your Occupational Skills

Step Five: Decide skills and allocate skill points

• Determine primary skills based on Occupation, Archetype, and character background
• Assign Skill Points as follows:
  • Occupation skill points (based on occupation calculation)
  • Archetype skill points (100 points)
  • Personal Interest Points = INT x 2
  • Credit Rating (CR): Assign skill points to bring CR into the range for your Occupation

Step Six: Create a Backstory

• Personal Description
• Ideology/Beliefs
• Significant People
• Treasured Possessions
• Traits
• Key Backstory Connection

Step Seven: Round out the hero

• Additional Details: Name, Birthplace, Gender, Picture, Cash & Assets, Equipment
• Cash & Assets: Look up your Credit Rating on Table 7 (pg 42)
• Equipment & Weapons: See Chapter 14
