...I think confusing Parnell is a new gnomish hobby.

OOC - cantrips are short. He no longer looks like an orc, just invisible.

Thokk, Half-Orc, Fighter 3
Posture: Bold, Steadfast, Cowardly

Not the wisest individual, Thokk still gets caught off guard when he observes Parnell vanish from sight. After a brief pause, the fighter shrugs off any confusion and, gripping his trident, moves cautiously forward.

Unphased by the lack of perceived threat, the half-orc advances towards the nearest orc grouping and jabs at the first one he spies with his trident, before ripping the pronged head out and jabbing again!

Two of the vile creatures quickly fall to Parnell and Dorni. Thokk and Xavril close into melee and critically wound another two, while Kurzuk and Tinwendil use bows. One orc bleeds from multiple arrow wounds.

Kurzuk is temporarily in NPC mode, using his last post's extra rolls.

Of the four standing orcs, three are critically wounded. Two flee screaming down the other cave while the uninjured orc and the one barely standing bravely face the two easily visible opponents.

Those who can comprehend the orc tongue hear the fear, and the warning given. Xavril senses something more, a great evil...

Xavril's orc has 1 h.p. left. Parnell has a fresh orc. Orc init is 2.

In the ensuing melee, Xavril's mace does not penetrate the orc's defenses, but neither does the orc hurt the priest. Parnell quickly dispatches the surly beast charging the party.

DM fiat here, the last close by orc dies trying to flee.

Orc commands are heard from the cave. Something moves in the malodorous pile of waste and fluids in the center of the chamber. Tinwendil is not aware of anyone or anything coming from behind.

Pulling his blade from the dead orc, Dorni gives the fresh corpse a shove, letting it slide down into the murky pool as he sprints back to the wall near the others. "Maybe it will eat that and be happy," the old gnome puffs.

The plate-armored gnome looks around uncertainly, looking to the more dowdy adventurers for direction. "My magic is swiftly depleting, something's in that pool, and we lured eighteen orcs into that other hallway. Do you want to retreat to let them fight the sludge-beast, or escape the sludge-beast by chasing the orc host down the hallway?"

There were six orcs that did not go down the hallway initially, they are all dead or gone. There are no orcs in the next round or two.

Thokk, Half-Orc, Fighter 3
Posture: Bold, Steadfast, Cowardly

Absent an immediate threat, Thokk finds himself drawn to the movement detected in the malodorous pile of waste and fluids in the center of the chamber. Flipping his trident around, he begins poking and proding the cesspool with the butt end of the shaft -- ready to flip it around to the weapon side should the situation call for it.

We must follow the orcs, but I prefer to know we have nothing behind us when we do.

Tinwendil moves forward cautiously, staying as far from the pool as possible. If Thokk provokes whatever is in the filth to reveal itself he will shoot it, otherwise he intends to observe the tunnel the orcs went down.

Xavril Darkstone (Half-Elf Cleric)
Posture: Steadfast

Xavril frowns at Thokk's brazen act of disturbing the pool, hoping he doesn't regret poking at the unknown ;) then moves away from the cesspool pit and toward Tinwendil, to provide support should he need it, his mace at the ready. While I recognize your, er...Bravery, Thokk, I'm quite certain you won't want a taste of what that pool of bile has to offer. Xavril winks and keeps moving along with Tinwendil, curious as to what the Orcs are doing down the far tunnel.

Parnell (Bold) looks around seeing all enemies down in the close vicinity decides it might be best to track down those that ran off warning the others. "Alright well I'm gonna go after them orc cowards." he states to the others but waits to see what the majority of the plan might be.

Thokk managed to overcome the vile odor emanating from the shallow pit, and to maintain his balance as he poked around. For a few pokes, nothing happened, and then he hit something solid. A long tenacle snapped out of the filth, and serrated edges on the end of the tenacle rip into Thokk. (7 h.p. damage, + disease risk)

Tinwendil and Kurzuk are able to place an arrow each into the short, squat, denizen of the pit. However, the thickness of its hide and the covering of the mire give it great protection.

OOC: Stopping after one round: Thokk is the only one in range of a physical attack. Others can close, or you can shoot it. Thokk can use his next action to move out of range.

A second tenacle rises from the pit, and a large mouth can be seen opening and closing. The stench is overwhelming.

By the Gods Thokk, why provoke the thing the orcs avoided? If we did not need your strong arm to clear these caverns of raiders I'd let it play with you.

Tinwendil has no intention of getting in range of the tentacles, but he will keep shooting at the thing. It seems to have a tough hide, so he aims into its maw - that looks more vulnerable.

Are fresh dice needed, or will the old ones suffice?

Dorni curses a string of epithets in the gnomish tongue. Choosing between pulling back to let the orcs face the fecal-monster or pursuing the orcs down the hallway and avoiding the fecal-monster, his companion chose attacking the fecal-monster and letting the orcs come up from behind.

The plate-armored gnome sheathes his sword and falls back towards the original hallway, using his sling to thunk the fecal-monster from the safest distance. He keeps himself away from the hallway that the 18 orcs will re-emerge from.

Initiative [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3
Sling (bullets) [1d20+2] = 11+2 = 13 (+2 more w/ surprise) sm [1d4+1] = 2+1 = 3 l [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4
Sling (bullets) [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3 (+2 more w/ surprise) sm [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2 l [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2 :o
Standard Rolls: Two d20 [1d20] = 11[1d20] = 4 Two d6 [1d6] = 2[1d6] = 2 One percentile [1d100] = 90

Xavril Darkstone (Half-Elf Cleric)
Posture: Steadfast

Xavril shakes his head at Thokk and moves swiftly toward the tunnel they came down originally (not the Orc infested tunnel). Perhaps we should put that "thing" between us and those Orcs. They seemed afraid of it. Perhaps we could even anger it a bit more. Get it to eat an orc or two?

Good idea Marullus

Posting Early; the days become crazy in short order. If something needs to be fixed, we can do it.

Orc voices come closer, they are moving from the other cavern and heading to the center area. The party continues to attack the malodorous beast in the pit, and soon more arrows are imbedded in its hide. Both tentacles flail about as it roars in anger.

Two rounds of combat have been done. The creature is wounded, but still viable. It only needs an 8 to hit Thokk, and of four rolls, the highest was a 7. *sigh*

Time for the next round.

The orcs spy the party and charge; roughly made swords and battered sheilds in the attack! Several push towards Thokk, separating him from the party. However, they do not close to melee range.

The main orc group will be in melee contact this round. Who is in front? One person cannot block the way, two can. Three might be able to engage. If Parnell and/or Dorni are in the front line a taller person can shoot over them. Orcs have infravision, and thus hiding in shadows is risky at best.

Roll two rounds of combat, report hits and damage. The orcs are AC 6, 4 HP each. If you kill one it won't be replaced until the next round. The otyugh in the pit is AC 5, medium sized.

Addendum Parnell and Xavril have not used any actions during this time. They have two rounds of actions before the orcs engage.
