Thokk, Half-Orc, Fighter 3
Posture: Bold, Steadfast, Cowardly

More concerned for his olfactory senses than his actual health or livelihood, Thokk fearlessly jabs at the beast emerging from the cesspool with his trident. "Because Thokk not scared," the half-orc quips to Tinwendil; either snarling or flashing a toothy smile between attacks. It's difficult to tell the difference.

Clarification If the pit monster stays centered then there are at least five paces of distance between tentacle maximum reach and most of the chamber walls.

Tinwendil: Posture Cautious

Assuming anybody who wants to can stay out of reach of the tentacles Tinwendil turns his bow on the orcs, aiming to wound as many as possible, weakening them for his comrades to kill more easily.

The orcs rush forward. Parnell and Xavril form an impenetrable wall of armor and determination. (see OOC request for clarification) One orc quickly falls to Parnell's skill while Xavril's mace sends one to whatever afterlife these beasts deserve. Yet when one orc falls another soon takes its place ( Parnell takes 5 HP from two hits. Parnell and Xavril each have 3 orcs on them). Kurzuk, Dorni, and Tinwendil continue to pepper the onslaught with their missiles.

Thokk, alone, is repeatedly cut by the slime pit creature's flailing tentacles ( Thokk takes 14 HP from 3 total hits ). While it seems in dire pain, mindless anger pushes it to destroy.

Run two more rounds of combat. Current HP/Max HP Character numbers are:

32/45 Parnell
24/24 Xavril
16/20 Kurzuk
24/24 Tinwendil
10/13 Dorni
9/30 Thokk

Thokk, Half-Orc, Fighter 3
Posture: Bold, Steadfast, Cowardly

Thokk raps himself in the head with the post of his trident. "Stop letting that thing hit you," he mutters to himself before returning his attention to the matter at hand.

Looking to avoid remaining a stationary target, the half-orc begins to circle the pit, jabbing at the beast with his trident.

He hears Dorni's voice call out something about orcs.

"Me kill this first --"

He jabs at the monstrosity again.

"-- then me help you fight orcs."

Xavril Darkstone (Half-Elf Cleric)
Posture: Bold

Driven by the heat of battle and pressed close by Orcs, Xavril continues to bash at the Orcs with his mace, growling furiously at their ugly faces and evil wills.

Tinwendil stays back putting each arrow into a different orc, while looking for any sign of leadership among them. If he sees such a figure he will point it out and concentrate his fire on it.

The battle rages on, and the party is greatly outnumbered. The orcs fight with malice agaist human and dwarf alike. Xavril and Parnell have moved forward enough that they are in line with Thokk. While not a perfect line of battle, it temporarily blocks the orc advance while giving the missile armed party members clear shots. Parnell and Xavril each slay a foe, while Parnell himself takes only minimal ( -2 hp ) damage. Tinwendil (3), Kurzuk (1), and Dorni (1) slew orcs trying to come around the slime pit. While still outnumbered, the party begins to even the odds.

Unfortunatly for the brave (?) Thokk, his own attacks do not finish the struggling creature before he himself is deeply wounded and profulsely bleeding (takes 11, at -2 hp). Losing consciousness, the half-orc does not feel himself be lifted by the tentacles and drawn towards the maw of the pit creature.

A throbbing, sickly red glow emanates from the other corridor. As Thokk falls, the glow strengthens; Xavril can feel cloying evil in the air, soaking into one's skin.

The orcs fight on, seeming more afraid of what is behind them than the adventurers in front of them. A guttural voice screams the orcish equivalent of "Fly, you fools!"

Thokk went down in the first round. Xavril and Parnell need to decide which of them is closest to the wall, and who is near Thokk. The creature does not have him eaten just yet, but it won't be long.

The numbers in parens after Tin, Kur, and Dor are the number of orcs they felled in the past two rounds. While there are still more orcs than party members, their numbers are thinning rapidly. Xavril and Parnell each have three, and two more will be coming around the gap where Thokk was. They will either attack the missle troops at the end of the next round. Three more are coming around the pit itself; they are subject to the party's missile fire but cannot attack this round.

Dorni curses in gnomish as Thokk collapses and the orcs round the pool. He slaps down the orc-visaged visor on his platemail and turns to stoicly face the approaching pool-side foes. Tucking away his long-distance sling, he begins furiously flinging his slender metal shivs as the orcs close on them...

Initiative [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6
Darts (3/round) [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12[1d3] = 2 [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8[1d3] = 3
Darts (3/round) [1d20+2] = 8+2 = 10[1d3] = 3 [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7[1d3] = 1
Darts (3/round) [1d20+2] = 12+2 = 14[1d3] = 3 [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11[1d3] = 1

He will hold firm with the archer line, retreating together if they choose to do so.

Parnell nearer to the wall wonders if the attack should be called off. "If them orcs er more afraid of whate'er is comin than us maybe we should take a hint and flee as well eh?" he says to Xavril. As he tries to clear any orcs around the fallen Thokk to try and drag him clear and maybe bind his wounds.

Xavril Darkstone (Half-Elf Cleric)
Posture: Bold

Xavril follows Parnell's lead. Agreed!. Some evil is afoot!!! I say let these Orcs pass if they will.

With that Xavrill shifts position, hoping to flank with Parnell and attack the tentacle to retrieve Thokk before he becomes a treat for the tentacled abomination in the pit.

Standard Rolls: Two d20 [1d20] = 6[1d20] = 3; Two d6 [1d6] = 4[1d6] = 6; Percentile [1d100] = 32
Mace Attack 1: Initiative [1d6] = 2; Attack [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18; Damage [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5
Mace Attack 2: Initiative [1d6] = 1; Attack [1d20+1] = 8+1 = 9; Damage [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3

Not an issue since he's not actually engaged, please roll the extra round of attacks.
